As a Westerner, I can say despite my years of education, that I was never properly taught to appreciate the great things produced by Western civilization. I will spend the rest of my life trying to remedy this.

Dimensions of contribution or matrix of strenght and weaknesses of the west from Greece/Rome until today. The matrix of other great cultures and their contributions to the world looks very different. The matrix shows clearly the strenghts and what the west gave to the world but also where it's weaknesses are. I Material plane Economy 8/10 Technology 10/10 Health 7/10 Security 8/10 33/40 = 8,25/10 HIGH II Mental plane Ethics 6/10 Science 9/10 Philosophy 6/10 Social Order 7/10 25/40 = 6,25/10 High area of MEDIUM III Emotional plane Friendship 5/10 Love 4/10 Community 2/10 Spirituality 2/10 13/40 = 3,25/10 High area of LOW These Matrix shows why the west dominates the current material world, but also why severe transgressions against other world cultural spheres happened and most importantly the current trend of self destruction, the erosion of social life which destroys social cohersion but also leads to conflict with other nations in an attitude of greed and forcefully domination. If the issues in the last two sub planes of emotional aren't solved quickly the west is doomed from total collapse until transhumanist Dictatorship. Solutions already unfolding ppl search in cultures like south east Asia (7/10) and India subcontinent (9/10) for spirituality. But also medium plane like Philosophy where south east Asia has 8/10. Community as the second total weakness ppl look for indigenous or tribal structures also some look I the past of the west with better times like the Polis of Athens which at the same time would stabilize the social order of which gov and democracy is a part of. The subaspects of the three main planes are in strong feedback to each other so the catastrophic degeneration of spirituality effects community the most followed by love. Friendship is balanced due the strenght in the material plane which requires a high degree of cooperation. If the main planes are out of balance the most talented ppl leave, especially the weakness in emotional plane forces ppl which would otherwise never leave to go to get their emotional needs met in countries who might are weaker in the other planes but offer enormous improvement in the emotional plane. Best examples are the passport Bro movement leading to transfer of money and skill to non western countries with a high value of the emotional plane. The other way around millions of ppl want into the west and so succeeding into the millions that task to liberate themselves of a degree of poverty we can't imagine. The tremendous strenght of our material plane pulls millions toward the west at the same time social order of the west is overburdened and the heavy weakness of the emotional plane already led to the remigration of some of this ppl. In Summary the west produced great things for itself and the world especially from 1600 until 1950 but since the new Millenial the weaknesses in the emotional amplyfied to a degree that the stability of the whole system west is endangered by impairing also the other two main planes leaving the west prone to insurrection, civil war and revolution. Peterson is one of the great intellectuals of our time who sheds light at great partially glorious parts but also on the sickness the cancer which spreads in the west. But things aren't over with the right diagnostics like this matrix which is just the upper not so detailed part ppl can get conscious what strenghts we still have and how weaknesses can be improved and from which cultures or nations we can learn. I the best case a great markets of ideas of solutions in which every nation of the world attends whole humanity will improve. Addition: Depending on the subjective view ppl will disagree with some subaspects of the planes and as a open model not all components of the subaspects are statically defined.

In the same way that watching sport is not the same as playing sport, simply reading quality, informed material is not the same as practicing the usage of it in real time. The reason these men have such elucidated understandings is that not only have they read material which presents novel and intriguing arguments in a manner which most had not previously encountered it, they also furthered that literate tradition by communicating their understanding of it to others, and listening to the feedback they were offered in return. If you want to emulate this, I strongly encourage you to seek out people who have read many books in the field you are interested in, and, firstly, ask their opinions on certain specific points in the field, but, very importantly, to also offer your own opinions, and allow their response to inform your understanding further. You can't understand capitalism if you only speak to Communists or economists, you must also speak to historians and military men, business owners and community leaders, even mathematicians have insight to offer on topics totally unrelated on the surface. "The unexamined life is not worth living." -Socrates The reason truly intelligent people are humble is because they understand the road to enlightenment is to recognize their limitations when entering new intellectual territory. As well that humility conveys a respect to one's conversation partner that implores them to place very serious consideration on how they present their words.
@holdenmcmurphy6141
@holdenmcmurphy6141 5 лет назад
@@BenjiQ575 great insight! it's like an idea really only becomes yours when you've put into practice (via action or relevant conversation) and modulated it in the process. i think real-time face-to-face discussion is best for this, as it forces you to dance with the framework then and there, and receive immediate feedback on delivery, clarity, etc. unfortunately, regarding anything political (or religious/spiritual), it's difficult to find discussion that won't quickly devolve into amygdala-activated argument. which sucks, because those are among the most important topics one can discuss, imo.

I actually have to disagree with this comment. I think it is bravery because it meets the definition of the word. Bravery is defined as doing the right thing regardless of the consequences. When Jordan Peterson Spoke out against bill C16 in Canada he knew the hate and push back he would receive as a result and chose to do it anyway. The same thing with these lectures and his books. Despite the people in power trying to destroy his name and reputation he continues to do so because he thinks he is doing what is right. The definition of a Coward is the exact opposite definition. it is defined as to refuse to do the right thing for fear of the consequences. Just like the kid who lied in his example because he didn't want to get into trouble. He refused to do the right thing (tell the truth) out of fear for the Consequences (getting in trouble). That would make such action a cowardly act according to the definition. I think the same thing about Dave Rubin. He has laid out the consequences he faces for speaking out. How he is not invited to speak about left wing topics he may be in favor of and how he is completely dismissed in many of the circles he once felt like he belonged to. Yet he continues to speak what he sees as the truth despite all that. That is bravery pure and simple. Not according to my opinion, but according to the actual definition of the word.

@Ernestine it’s a complex situation but in short terms: Sweden sets a very sad example of how liberal socialism, strong individualism and thru the school system pushed on intersectionalism decades of well being can go terribly wrong. It’s just a become a big mess of virtue signaling politicians hand in hand with government controlled media (so called public service) doing everything they can to keep their leftie narrative getting fully funded by taxes, leaves out the real problems in our society, focus on niceties. Thankfully people finally starts to wake up, questioning the rooted system. But sadly the vast majority still leans back (until it hits their own wallets) This country is very divided with a very weak left leadership, and sadly the opposition is almost as bad. In short

You don't need these people you have to be the one, you all have to see things from a deeper perspective rather than the symptom a logical one that these people come from you have to look at deeper root causes for social ills oh, you must understand that misery is derived from two components that are exacerbated by the elites and the bureaucrats, hence the misery index, unemployment rate and rate of inflation. There's so much you need to understand instead of listening to these Talking Heads learn about deeper deeper deeper social ills and their remedy oh, that is economically freedom and they returned just sound money oh, this will ensure that the people will not remain debt slaves having to bail out the big corporations time and time again because just like in the past with big corporations like VW Audi Volkswagen BMW and Leslie were able to coerce government to use people as slaves this is going to return oh, this is going to repeat itself oh, they were the beneficiaries of all the taxpayer bailouts in 08 while all those people lost their homes, no the way this world operates or you're simply just follower Enchanted by your new modern Jesus whoever else you got there, wake up on a whole complete different level

@Mishka Leigh Why is Rubin a pinhead? He holds inconsistent views because his main motivation is money. He's all for the 'market place of ideas', but appears on promotional clips supporting a proto-fascist like Bolsonaro - someone who would happily kill gays and transgender people. He feels the left doesn't want to debate, but is running scared of Sam Seder. He feels free speech is important, but is on record as saying Seder called him an idiot, so he won't debate him. David Packman was accused by him of having a 'mental illness', but it didn't hurt his feelings and stop Packman annihilating him in their debate. Yes, Rubin is a pinhead, and charlatan to boot.

I am in my mid 40’s and just discovered JBP a week ago. Since it’s quarantine, I binge watched many of his videos. What I had realized is that our (hubby and I) way of thinking and living are almost completely aligned with what he is preaching. We have a pretty successful life and our success in life is not accidental. You have to have this kind of thinking to be able to succeed in life. I am glad he even reconfirm our child rearing strategies. It was a struggle to raise kids in this climate (safe space, everybody gets the trophy). We didn’t use the lobster example lol, but a lot of chimpanzees examples to explain to our kids about hierarchy, stand up straight, and etc etc. what he is teaching is extremely important to young people today. Please learn from him.

I loved this discussion! I’m an Aussie Christian, and have always loved John Anderson as a person and Deputy Pm. This conversation was so good because, it showed that people are all unique but can Think and read and make Intelligent decisions with respect, honouring the other person, not judging the person for their opinions. Courage and honesty and being true and authentic in what you believe, being willing to grow learn mature and love and compromise if you find your thinking needs tweaking, is what Christians believe. The system of government the western world government is based on the teachings and laws and commandments in the Bible. That spark of divinity IS in all men and women. That’s y people choose to do good! God loves and values everyone. And Christians have to love everybody, that’s part of our Faith description. Having God as your teacher, mentor, Author, friend Father, healer protector and Saviour certainly helps in finding out who you are and what value you and everyone else has in our Creators eyes. It makes life so much easier to navigate being authentic, courageous, honest, and you get the added benefit of Him being the best mental and emotional healer ever. I loved the respect shown by all three guys to each other. I’d love to hear more of Johns interviews too. So I’m happy to subscribe! Well said guys. God bless you all and may that spark of divinity in the two speakers become a fire in you and lead you to the source of your good sense and wisdom. Tina Neilsen.🇦🇺♥️

It is such a sign of sickness in the world that Dr Peterson has so many detractors. God, just listen to him, here, I am moved to tears - really. He is perhaps doing the most important work there is - teaching how to be a good and useful person is what it comes down to. The sheer passion and authority with which he speaks - compelling is an understatement; he is a force of nature and you have got to believe he means every word. I look at the faces of those young men and women in the audience, and I think they too are moved and inspired by him. It is such a travesty that many will say his audience is angry men. It is utter nonsense. His message is universal and the world needs it.
