Canadian professor Jordan Peterson became a blockbuster intellectual almost overnight with his latest book, 12 Rules For Life: The Antidote To Chaos. It rose to the top of the New York Times bestseller list earlier this year. He joined 7.30’s Leigh Sales to discuss taking responsibility for your own life.

Good on you! finally, someone has something positive thing to say...not many people are bothered to see his contributions. people don't even try to understand how hard he has to work and what he has to give up to get to his level of knowledge or wisdom, not even mention his courage to face the world to be judged!!! It is sad to know the kind of humanity we face these days. Thumb's up to you buddy

reminds me of a real conversation with my grandpa with I was in my early life. It went like this, as I was crying to him at his favorite fishing hole: Me: But Grandpa you don't understand... Grandpa: P.P. "Sometimes life is not fair, but we are all born into a lot of life, that we have, some hard, some harder, some kids get it easy. That's not you." He told me saldy. "Someone will always be standing behind you trying to knock you down. And when you fall down and get mad, GEt UP! Pull yourself up by "your bootstraps" and prove to them that they are wrong." I never forgot those words. I wish the world were filled with a lot of old wise grandpas like I had until I was 40. I'm 60 now and miss him more than even, but his wisdom lives forever inside of me...

I can hear grandpa say, "Well now P.P., that man has some damn good common sense. We sure could use just a little bit more of that. Don't you think"? As he winked and smiled before he walked away.

Aww! Look how happy he is at the end of the interview when he finds out that the Woman interviewing him was actually respectful & actually appreciated him being there & listening to what he had to say... Instead of just trying to either; trick him into a "gotcha" moment, or insult him the entire time, or just constantly & repeatedly try to put words into his mouth... Which unfortunately is what usually happens to Jordan. But not this time! And as a result, just LOOK how happy & relieved & appreciative he is to her at the end! You can just see how good of a person he is on the inside, and how people throughout his life have tried to take advantage of that & have caused him to develop a tough outer shell in order to protect himself, but yet despite that, just how good & kind of a person he is on the inside, & that he didn't let his adversity & struggle to cause him to become bitter.

1 Corinthians 13 is true love - but of course, everyone on this earth is imperfect so our human love is not going to be 100% perfect all the time. I would say I have a similar past in not receiving "real love" but once we know that, is there a point to dwell on it further and have self-pity or live in the memories of our past - not particularly (not saying you do this or not but just my opinion), live in the present and realize you can only control yourself. I'd encourage you to embrace God though and His perfect love that He freely gives to those who seek Him, have faith and believe in Him because He does love you unconditionally [John 3:16]. [Hebrews 11:1 - Faith is being sure of what we hope for. It is being sure of what we do not see.] God bless

If Ms. Leigh Sales is reading, I would simply say this: thank you. You did not recant from doing tough and crucial questions, you were respectful, listened carefully and smartly. This kind of journalism is almost extinguished. Keep that fire alive.

I remember when a change of government occurred in Australia in 1986. The new Treasurer said there was a huge budget deficit left by the previously government. He said in parliament: "we did not create this mess, but we will take responsibility for it". He did indeed and got the budget back to surplus in a few years. This is analogous to what Dr Peterson is teaching. You can inherit a mess, but sometimes you have no alternative other than fix it. Simply blaming the previous government wouldn't help, just like blaming the past doesn't help. I have, for years, blamed my upbringing for certain aspects in my life. This video has helped me understand what it means to take responsibility for my life, instead of feeling resentful and abdicating that responsibility to my upbringing. Thank you Dr Peterson.

Yep. Whether you were born lucky, or not, there's no use in crying over it. Take what you have and start from there; don't dig a deeper hole, climb out of it, even if it's little-by-little, inch-by-inch. Keep moving, keep going, never give up.
