I admire Arnel, thought Steve A. was in a difficult spot, I often enjoy unique covers of songs. However, the songs that Steve Perry made famous and for the most part co-wrote, they only sound right when they are delivered with his heart.

Steve Perry was the ultimate. That vocal range is very difficult to attain or imitate. That being said, it was amazing how the band was able to get the other Steve (Augeri) to follow after Perry left. Augeri got some amazing vocals also and I guess Arnel P. Kudos to them all for letting the songs and performances live on.

Arnel has a raspy voice than the other two which separate him as clone. Amazingly he can do Bryan Adams' voice as close to Bryan's and other's too. Man! talking about job security.
That was awesome! Very well put together, you did a sweet job man! I am A Die Hard Journey fan and this video proves there is only one Steve Perry. However, Arnel Pineda is doing the classics proud. Steve Augeri was okay too.

steve's a legend!! i am a singer myself and steve is the only person who's responsible if arnel pineda sings as good as he does right now.. good job arnel, but we still have to wait for new songs from this new formation then people will decide..
Good job on the video, it rocked! I do think Steve Perry was the best lead singer Journey ever had, but the other two were good enough, that I would still watch them live.

Personally, I liked Steve A and thought he did a great job with the songs, but there's something in Arnel's voice that makes me feel the same way about these songs as when I first heard them. Can't wait until Journey comes to Southern California... I'll be first in line.
I agree with you. The band is not one man. All of them made Journey a great and successful band. I'm happy to see level headed people posting comments on this video.
The old debate goes on. There are Super bowl champs & icon bands of the old & modern era. The great Steve Perry, J. Montana, etc., all had glory days. AS HUMANS, WE, all team &/or band members COME & GO. Now, we have NEW teams with..Manning/NYGiants, Arnel/Journey. While BS walks, OUR MONEY TALKS. So the NEW teams/bands will bring back proven OLD plays & tunes WITH HOPES to capture OUR mighty dollar. LET'S ROCK ON WITH THE NEW TEAMS! WE'RE ALL HERE, LIVE LIFE, THEN GO AS MORTALS.

After watching many comparison videos of perry / pineda i think they are both unbelievable, but i think perry edges it on the feeling he has in his voice, it may come with pineda in time, but not just yet, good old steve!!!!!!
What´s the point on comparing? Every singer has a different and unique approach. Steve Perry has a nice soft and tender touch, augeri has a more bluesy/soul approach and pineda has a more powerfull and resonating voice. They all sound good to me

People...SP, AP or whoever frontman of Journey you love and support, listen. If you all love the band "Journey" don't fight amongst yourselves. The band is made up of guitarists, drummers, organists, pianists, and singers. It is not a one-man show. Those lead singers are nothing, I repeat, NOTHING, without the others. One can't exist alone. SP or AP is not the band, they're just part of it. So stop the hating! If you don't like whichever singer, then don't listen to him sing, it's that simple.
I think all three were great, and it's weird how similar to one another they all sound. The new album is great, and Arnel can sing very well, but for me, it's got to be one of the Steve's. :)

Didn't know Journey until Arnel Pineda, I am now listening to the old Journey and seriously don't understand why People think this is the better singer.

we have to move on guys, Journey band is for everybody's race. White, Black or Brown people or whatever accent, New Journey has new era, new image & mix generation. I'm glad somebody spoke up regarding this VERY OBVIOUS fact. His voice is pretty good but needs A LOT of WORK. His singing could be more tolerable (as tolerable as 2nd rate singers go anyway), only if he'd work on his accent. His HEAVY CHINESE accent DOES NOT HELP matters at all! Even if he did manage to eliminate the accent, it's still feels really strange watching a chinese guy fronting Journey!! This is a Great American band afterall .. isn't it?
