I am not a huge Journey fan but them opening with Only The Young gives me chills. Its one of their best songs and was a huge hit but it gets forgotten.
Just saw these guys in Edmonton a few days ago. They are second to none. Totally impressed with Arnel's vocals, and with Neal Schon's guitar skills. Truly amazing. Two thumbs up!!
It's nice to hear your appreciation of Neal Schon's guitar playing. Most of the folks here just gush about Arnel; well deserved praise, but Neal is a musical force who started this band in 1974. I went to their first shows at Winterland in S.F. He rocked my world then- and here he is still playing so powerfully. 50 years on! Edmonton, an ex of mine lived there once. So glad you got to hear and see this great band. 👍 🕉
These clips are the best promotional device a band can get. This clip is very well done and Journey should be paying you. Any band that take clips down is nuts because if anything I’m motivated to see Journey because of this terrific clip.
Thanks for sharing your very nicely taken video, lucky you for being there with your great camera! Love it!! Another phenomenal performance of Journey with the amazing vocal performance of Arnel! **The Journey band is extremely lucky to have recruited Arnel Pineda, who has remained loyal to the band as a successful frontman for more than 16 years. **He added more life to Journey's success when AP joined Journey in 2007, at the time that Journey's popularity was floundering ever since Steve Perry left, and the arrival of AP, he revived theJourney band with success after success in its Concerts, all over the world where Journey had never been before! ( as SP does not like to do concerts back then in Europe, according to the band's interviews) ***How many 70's and 80's rock bands are as hot as Journey? and have even reached 50 years!! lots of them ( rock bands) have failed! ..Maybe one reason was that Arnel Pineda has that versatile vocal ability, endurance, young looks, and superb energy and charms to capture the crowds on the stage and give an incredible performance each time! Hats off Arnel Pineda! Happy 50th Anniversary, Journey!!
We saw them play in Raleigh on the 16th. This concert was 2 days later. The energy is incredible. I get frustrated with criticism of Arnel. I’m a die hard Steve Perry fan. But I really enjoyed Arnel’s interpretations and his pure joy of the music.
I’m confused. Did you like the concert or not? Your writing is confusing. You say it was a waste of money, but then you say you didn’t feel like you missed out on anything. At any rate, just to clarify, my husband and I loved the concert. We had a great time.
Arnel is totally amazing its hard to sing that high night after night sometimes he goes a tad off key in some songs on certain shows but overall he's amazing! So is dean his voice is insanely great and he can sing all these just as good as arnel ! Some even better and the keyboardist is good too
@@prajnachan333 yea bud, however we're talking about crooner who didn't last that long with journey band,Arnel never run out of gas which great for the group the bucks keep rollong.
@@theresaluchsinger4488 yea if music is in your blood,it's unstoppable action.Journey after all are very industrious musicians, traveling all over the globe just to make everybody happy.
I am super-impressed with Jason Derlatka's vocals. He's a tenor with a very clean but powerful tone. He reminds me of Kenny Loggins. They need to give Jason at least three songs, maybe also "Suzanne" and "I'll Be Alright Without You" or "Positive Touch". They also need to give Deen a couple more like they used to, including "Still They Ride" and "Keep On Running". This would also give Arnel a nice break too.
I cant forgot this of journey during were working kingdom of saudi arabia,,,iloveyou guys...nakakaaliw ang kanilang mga awitin .spclly kababayan arnel pineda...
Arnel Pineda is amazing. His voice of course is beautiful and his energy and movement onstage is so entertaining. I love the band with him. He is a tremendous front man, especially at 56 years old!!!! He moves around like he's 26 or 36. They are so lucky to have found him and he is likewise luck. It's changed his life beyond words. It was over with Steve Perry when he and the band parted ways. He had a nice solo career. Arnel has been with Journey now for 17 years. He has created his own legacy with the band. He also seems just like a sweet, humble human being who so appreciates this amazing and unexpected opportunity in life. In interviews he gives so much props to Steve Perry and has said he hopes Steve comes back one day, although we all know that is almost certain to never occur. I have seen Journey with Arnel 3 times now and I thank them all for making this happen and bringing this amazing music to all of our cities, even 50 years later!!!!!!!!!! Great show guys. PS Can we bring back an encore??? :)
Neil Schon is one of the greatest guitar players. Super underrated. I remember he was playing with Santana for a little while and people didn't realize who he was.
Neal is one of the very best guitar players, performing these days. I met neal, years ago, after a HARDLINE concert. He was very cool, friendly, down to earth.
@@adamchafetz2986 curious where you met him ? I met him after a Hardline show in Lititz PA after they opened for Mr Big in a "hometown" kick off show, since the Gioeli's lived in that area and Johnny and his bro and I went to school. Johnny and I were buds in high school.
He is one of the greatest. HE KNOWS IT TOO, because he is one of the biggest assholes. He is not underrated. He has always been one of my favorite guitar players.
Take note that the reaso why steve perry leave this band because He can't survive the schedule that is why He save His voice because its almost lost. But AP see how he manage His voice for 10yrs more upto now my goodness AP your such a great singer
GEN X, 1965 and a 51 year "Journey" Fan! I'm grateful "Classic Journey" with Rolie, Schon, Perry, Valory, & Dunbar seamlessly morphed into Perry, Cain, Schon, Smith, and Valory! Let's never FORGET Herbie Herbert the great Visionary/Manager and the original JOURNEY ROAD CREW as well as Cyndy Poon and Lora Beard busily dealing with Journey's fan club, "Journey Force." 1977, 78',79' and 80'...the band and crew busted their cans 24/7 and worked so much to become the successful "JOURNEY" 51 years later. Perry, Schon, and Cain belong in the "Songwriters Hall Of Fame"! I get so sentimental and nostalgic at the LIVE CONCERTS! I'm grateful Steve Augeri and Arnel Pineda were able to carry JOURNEY to it's "Legacy status." And thankful Herbie Herbert had the vision to add the greatest VOICE 🙌 in Rock history, Steve Perry! The EVOLUTION of the band has had many twists and turns, deep valley's and high ⛰️ mountaintops. We, the fans voted Steve Perry the "GREATEST ROCK SINGER" ever through Billboard in September, 2023.Steve acknowledged the WIN 🏆 with his usual humble self. One question? Jonathan donated "The WHALE 🐋 🎹" to the RRHOF. What is the name of his new red 🎹 piano? Whale,Jr.? 🎹🔺️
Brilliant singer , j. Cain keyboardsschon,( to me one greatest guitar players, and what a drummer. Great Musicians, legends. Great songs. One of the best rock and roll ever
Those songs have taken a toll on Pineda's voice as they did Perry's. Probably the most difficult library to sing in all of rock history. The ending of Mother Father was painful to listen to.
Saw them in March 2024 in Lubbock Texas. It was an experience. I will remember for a very long time. Our nails performance was spot on. Sometimes performing on a stage you can’t hear unless all the sound is being managed properly at the board. But this night everything was working perfectly. It was amazing.
Much respect for Arnel. I think he was the only once that could allow this band to continue fully successfully post the great Steve Perry. Maybe im just nostalgic but Journey without Perry just never did it for me. I saw Journey around 1982 at Saratoga Springs NY. Drove from NYC to see them. I saw them many times but i think in 82 the opening act was greg kihn band. We had lawn seats and a jug full of jack and cola. Seems like a lifetime ago but that night rocked!
What a story!! This band Exemplified my Childhood, one of them anyway!! A lot of Firsts to their songs! Makin Mixed Tapes for the girls a Journey song always made it in there, anf then Steve Perry just wennt away.... and now this little Phillipino guy Arnel comes along and blows everyone away with his beautifu voice!! Man those are big shoes to fill and he does it!! they sound awesome!!
@@The_Jewish_Cowboy Clearly I have been schooled.. THANK YOU .. I truly was and am a fan, but I obviously did not follow them enough to know these obvious facts.. I am quite knowledgeable about Music too so this one hurts the Ego a little!! but I will admit when I have no clue.. Again, Thank you
How many states they had accomplish their concerts? And arnel's voice is not all being considered to be taken care of becuase a day or two on the road to reach another staye for another venue of the concert is not enough to rest his jaw and larynx flexibility. I just thyre treating arnel well coz i dont think anymore lead singers in a rock band can sustain high notes at 50's.
Steve Perry, Neal Schon, and Jonathan Cain wrote all of this great music 🎶 Now the new band carry it into the future 🕉 Journey 2024................ 🌈 🌟
I love this band, and wish things could have worked out with Steve, but I love the story of how they found Arnel, and he's carried the torch wonderfully. When I think how Neil and Gregg were part of my favorite early Santana albums before forming Journey I'm even more impressed.
