As a Chinese Canadian who's used to our longggg winters, I have to say you are a little inexperienced at and not used to preparing for the cold. 😂😂

I honestly love Beijing's Climate it's so perfect! Very cold and snowy winters and steaming hot and humid summers and mild autumn and spring

My hometown !!! The city I spent 5 years before moving abroad , it’s so big , and has some of the best foods, combining Korean , Japanese,Russian and Chinese Muslim all in one place . The dumpling place you went to was pretty good , but it’s even better in some market made by a couple grandmas , thank you for bring me back to memory lane 😋

I went to Mohe , January 2018. One of my best holidays fascinating to experience the cold. The Chinese were friendly & helpful. Great memories.

As a Chinese currently studying in the US, I am learning so much about my own country from your channel. I grew up in Beijing and have never been to at least half of the major cities in China. I admire how you explore the alleys and interact with the locals with an open mind when you are visiting each city.

When I was in Shenyang it was in the middle of winter and I was told by family the best way to stay warm was to eat often. Keep the fire in your belly stoked! Multiple layers is also a must.

Fun fact: From the southernmost Dongbei city Dalian to the northernmost Dongbei city Mohe, it is 2000km drive! Similar to the distance from Beijing to Guangzhou. Dongbei is HUGE!!!

Actually., a part of inner Mongolia is included in Northeast. I was graduated from Northeast University three years ago. They have a famous chain store called Lao si ji. You 'll love it.

The Five Mountains are Mount Songshan (1492 meters above sea level, located in Dengfeng City, Henan Province), Mount Tai (1545 meters above sea level, located in Taishan District, Tai'an City, Shandong Province), Mount Huashan (2160.5 meters above sea level, located in Huayin City, Shaanxi Province), Mount Hengshan (1300.2 meters above sea level, located in Nanyue District, Hengyang City, Hunan Province), Mount Hengshan (2016.8 meters above sea level, located in Datong City, Shanxi Province), and Mount Huashan. I went to Changchun before and the best food is actually dog meat, but don’t get me wrong, those are big restaurants and dog are bred to be consumed not pet dogs. It’s one of the traditions from Jilin province and north and South Korea from long ago

the special thing about the dumpling is it uses a unique technique called 煸馅, that is when normal dumpling put raw grounded meat as filling,煸馅 will use the 7:3 fat: lean ratio pork meat and cut off the fat part first, stir-fried it with sauce until most of it oil come out, filter out the oil and then add back the cooked fat part back to lean grounded meat with assorted veggies. it is most likely only served in Dongbei.

The UK has Ian Wright, the US has Samantha Brown and now, Australia has you! You should consider applying for one of those jobs. I would just advice to have slightly more mature vibe in your video to capture a wider audience. But I honestly love your hosting, I am 25 tho.

Ha， welcome to Shenyang ,my hometown. You know in the square where there stands the statue of Mao Zedong， there used to be an English corner, where the local people gathered together to speak English to each other. That is where I practiced my English and made a lot of new friends. I am currently living in Quebec and have not been back for quite a while. The statue still reminds me of my lovely childhood. Wish you a great journey in Dongbei. I won't say there are many places to visit there in Shenyang, but there are definitely a lot to eat , I mean , a LOT and extremely inexpensive. My mom's favorite is the outdoor hot spring in winter, that is something you must try!

With indoor heating available, you don't need to wear so many layers of clothing. Once you get inside it will get hot very quickly. A better way would be one big, thick and long down filled coat and a pair of snow boots. No woolen sweater or long underpants or anything like that.

I was born in Shenyang and personally speaking, winter Shenyang is not that attractive haha please come back to visit Shenyang again if you have time literally anytime between May to October, the HUANHE riverside, city nightlife and bars, BBQ.... Sooooo much more fun in the summertime. Wish I was there to help you, Zhongjie is literally 15 minutes walking distance to my home lol

Wow, It is amazing that you travel to my hometown! I used to live around the park you played Pingpong since my secondary school is located there! Shenyang is very cold and very dry, when the wind blows it feels like you skin is ripped off from your face! Also, there is a restaurant which sells the best Tu Dou Fen (土豆粉) in Shenyang beside that park (in my opinion). If you ever came back, give it a try! Shenyang also has a small Korean city inside with very good Korean food as well. Stay healthy and safe at home!

It was funny that the tour guide called the Mukden palace a "temporary little palace". The Emperors back then might have had higher ambitions, but temporary was probably not what they were thinking about their abode. Mukden is derived from Mukdembi (to raise in Manchurian). Mukden/Shenyang was actually not the first capital or "birthplace" of the Qing dynasty. Making Mukden the capital followed a period of busily/hastily moving the capital after a number of victories and conquests. Shenyang was hardly a big noticeable city back then and had it not been made the capital, it would probably never become the major regional center that it is now. The capital immediately before Mudken was near what's Liaoyang today (West of Shenyang), called Dergi Hecen (literally meaning Eastern City in Manchurian, because the newly built capital was to the East of the old Liaoyang city). Before that, the capital was in Hetu Ala (Horizontal Ridge in Manchurian) later renamed Yenden (derivated from yendenumbi, to prosper in Manchurian). That's to the East of Shenyang, part of today's Fushun. Yenden should really be considered the first capital. The old (smaller) palaces are still there. It may be worthwhile to visit these places if you're interested in history, but probably not a trip to that part of the world just for them.

The Southerner in me would want that dumpling dunked in soy sauce instead of vinegar! Good thing I am eating now. Stay safe!
