The first time I went to selection, I failed, but during the exit interview, was invited back, the second time I got hurt, but again was invited back. The third time was the charm.

I find the most important and best stories are told by the ones who fail and come back for more until they succeed. Never Quit.

I did a selection in 2004 after my Iraq deployment. I had the opportunity, during the interview portion, to ask a question about anything I wanted. I asked what I was assessing for, and he said that he couldn't tell me. It wasn't overly difficult, but the strangest part was the ruck portion. I started as one of the last people, only passed two people but when I finished there were literally only 5 of us that got in the van together out of about 30. To this day, I have no idea how far we walked or how long we walked for.

No one, except the guys who run Selection, knows what the selection standards are. Those are highly classified but it is said that they look for specific traits, not necessarily the strongest and fastest.

George Hand and Pat Mcnamara were in the same Selection and they both confirmed that their class highest perfomer (an Infantryman from 10th Mountain) ended up as non select.

These guys are like Olympic athletes period . I never went higher than Airborne but I also joined the army when I was 35 . I wasn’t the fastest guy but I was always in the front pac of dudes never quit anything they threw at us completed every Ruck march . We had one kid who quit every one even the 2 mile we started with all the way up to the 25 mile ruck at the end with the steak dinner lol it was literally like 6 Oz steak with nothing else lol it was so good then we drank the punch it was awesome I wish I could re do life n join when I was 17 , 18 yrs old . I did 8 yrs in the 82nd n my hip blew out when I was 43 and I had it replaced. No regrets now I’m waiting for my other hip to be replaced. It would if happened with or without the army

@@picolascage5270 Seriously think through what you are considering. But if it's truly what you want and you're dedicated enough to go through with it, do it. I went through SFAS in November 2012 and we had a guy who got selected who was 42 or 43.

I understand special operators living with the injuries of serving physical injuries but I don't understand why a person would become a special operator knowing that mentally there's a really good chance you will never be the same i.e. Depression PTSD... To me that's a heavy price to pay especially for your loved ones that will be around you

Facts... me and my brother went through hte same spring class when C Squad ran the course. the course is really a joke. its the commanders board that get u to OTC but theyll fail u last day of the course. and the girls at G Squad always outsourse from the Unit because they either marry into the unit or dnt wanna be found on the JIANT global. and half of D Squad failed the shoot in to SOTIC. how do u go back to the Unit command and say I failed the shoot in?
