Owamie is not a 100% wrong, because there are women who lie about men assaulting them. Like that teenager who led to that boys suicide, she’s wrong when she says you can’t be in a relationship with someone who can R you & continue with dat person. This is SA we live in townships where girls have boyfriends that sometimes beat them on the streets, dragging them to their homes in broad daylight. We have friends that admit they date ppl whose every touch they hate just for the benefits they get. She can just show more respect & sensitivity on this matter when delivering on it… But she chooses not to that’s the distasteful part about her deliverance and ppl pay for docket pieces to get lost so cases get thrown out. Sometimes we should comment on sexual assault issues with sensitivity. Most people do not understand what rape is and these type of statements discourage people to speak out.

The NPA didn’t say he is innocent they said the case is thrown out of court due to not having prospect evidence n other court matters to sustain the case

I just want to say to anyone who is reading this, the NPA did not dismiss the case, the case can only be dismissed in court. The NPA withdrew because they have the onus of proving beyond reasonable doubt that Jub jub is guilty and they did not have sufficient evidence to do this hence they did not proceed to court. That’s all that statement says, it speaks nothing to Amanda’s guilt or innocence nor does it speak to Jub jub’s guilt or innocence either. This is very very very dangerous reporting Owamie, you’ve made such unfounded accusations and assumptions. I’m sorry to any R victim who is reading this and has been in this position where the matter could not proceed to court simply because they could not prove beyond reasonable doubt that they were assaulted. That is what Im worried about too. Victims will be afraid to come out since lack of evidence suddenly means the guy is innocent. I hope that Jub Jub takes it to court so that it can be dealt with in a court of law and not thw court of public opinion.

I was raped and physically abused when I was 15 years by a grown man and in the village where I grew up everyone thought that was normal until three years later when my abuser died and I was free to talk about it, my own sister never believed me and she asked me for money to buy izingubo necansi for the guy’s funeral, I was so hurt and angry and I called her and tell her about everything since she was young when everything happened and she believed everything. At this point we should all understand that any R case with no evidence will be thrown out the window. We cannot keep embarrassing ourselves like this as women by fighting people about R yet we havent done any steps to prepare for such accusations. People who have never experienced this or don't have anyone close to them who has been thru this, speak so easy. 😢 Until it happens to you or your relative that's when you can view it differently (God forbid) I went to the tertiary in the early 2000s and I was staying at Horizon residence in Auckland Park... things that were happening to the girls that were recruited at Technikon Witwatersrand campus for music videos were horrible and I have never seen any of those ladies opening R cases against those hooligans they lived with depression and dropped out without opening cases against their perpetrators. I wonder how those young ladies turned out in life .. Sexual assault survivors hide their trauma from people or even themselves because they feel like its degrading and embarrassing and mostly they fear being judged & blamed. Trust me some of their perpetrators were/are big respected names and still doing great in the industry 😢 😢😢.. some have been on the news previously and lately for the S assault cases accused by different women besides my former Resident mates and i am always shocked to hear People supporting these perpetrators and condemning the victims 😮 because i know what I know i always feel so sorry for women who lose these cases. I fear the power of money and the power of being Powerful and idolized by society that doesn't want to acknowledge their idols flows. Anyways im not saying JubJub did it.. all im concerned about is the carelessness approach to topics like this. It is hard enough for sexual assault survivors to muster the courage to speak out on their own and it can make it that much harder when in today’s society there is still much victim-blaming going on.
I also a victim of rape and still dealing with trauma but I went to the police immediately trauma did not block me because I wanted those people to be arrested I did not wait for many years to report
I'm so sorry for what happened to you 🫂.. but people react differently to trauma, some can even carry that "secret" to the grave because they are ashamed, scared,self blame,shocked and in denial especially if they loved or were very close to the person who did it to them. If you did go for counselling after what happened to you and you are still talking to your therapist please ask him/her how R victims react to that trauma of being violated , trust me you will be shocked to hear how differently we react to the same situation. My son is 19 and he is still a virgin he says and reason being he doesn’t want to be accused of r. Every time he dates , girls dump him because he suggests they wait for marriage before they can have sex . He doesn’t drink nor smoke because , he doesn’t want to be controlled by substances and do things that might get him into trouble. It’s not easy 😢

And ke oksalayo the NPA has dismissed the case so ke it *doesn’t matter what public court thinks* If any of these allegations were ever true, then it should be a lesson learnt by anyone that evidence is key & that the sooner one reports the case, then the better and get the necessary psychological help they would need to survive trial, but ke 4 now Jub jub is a freeman in the eyes of the law.

Hey Miss Owami I think another issue that plays a role here is the term colourism. Miss Amanda has Pretty Light skin Privilege (nothing wrong with that) but it plays a role in how people perceive that person. If it were a less favourable lady for example dark skinned and thick many people would have questioned her because she doesn’t fit the beauty standard of society. Second “Toxic Masculinity” I believe also plays a role here. I remember the way some female celebrities went for MacG and tried to get him cancelled because of his comments that were not okay. In this instance it was the perfect opportunity to educate men not cancel MacG and to their “shock” I guess his channel grew even bigger. We need to start having such discussions as women.

We need women that will be loud for real victims & we also need women that will be strong against false accusers (liars that do exist) like that teenage girl who led to that boys suicide. In a dangerous country like SA we need to be real and just show a little more sensitivity because this is an issue that’s very complex. We’ve lived wit serial R’pists, some still being groomed on their phones, we also live around evil liars as well, women like oRosemary Ndlovu. Owamie just lacks sensitivity and realistic consideration on this matter. Many women in SA are in relatonships with abusers that do R them. But she’s also correct when she says we have friends that date men whose every single touch they hate for the soft life. You need to remain neutral to such sensitive topics ninja. Be very careful dear because when a case is withdrawn, it can mean a lot of things i.e that there may not be enough evidence to support it which happens often however that does not mean the incident did not take place and in Amanda du Ponts's case it is likely that the evidence is not enough since the incident in question probably happened many moons ago.

Well, dropping a case because you were not able to gather and keep factual evidence as a victim does not mean it was a lie and it was an intentional attempt to damage someone’s reputation. It happens all the time because a substantial amount of time has passed since the occurrence of the alleged GBV.

We don't know if she lied we don't know if he is innocent. The NPA dropped the case, not that he was found innocent. Sometimes you need to choose your words carefully. Alot of women were rapped by their partners and kept quiet about it for years, it doesn't mean they were not assaulted. If Jub Jub feels he was wronged I hope he sues her and lets this whole thing play in court.
If you go and say someone rap*d you and then you say i dont wanna open a case now, more especially if you are patners, your evidence may not even make it to court coz they will question why you didnt open a case then… As for suing he wont win it, maybe he did it , but she just cant prove it
