@@optidalfprime3904 even so, he was with her for many, many, many years in a professional capacity. Longevity should carry some weight where loyalty is concerned. At the very least she could have had the decency to pick up the phone and call Byrd. All the lectures she gives about integrity, honesty, doing the right thing, have gone down the drain. She's revealed her true colors and they aren't pretty.

Even though they were an amazing team, being that that they worked together for 25 years, friends or not, she should have at least told him before he heard about the show and called her. It's the least she could have done instead of him finding out the way he did. That would have been more honorable. It's Hollywood, they move people and rebrand. But if you have a working relationship being they knew each other before Hollywood, she should have told him that her brand was going in a new direction. That's all.

She will make at least $47 M this year....she appears to have forgotten the old adage " you can't take it with you". I watched an interview with him talking about the fact that she never even called him! How disrespectful to a man who was, and still is extremely respectful to you. I for one, will no longer watch her!

This clip makes her more real. She's not all makeup and raised brows, she's simply now aging with grace. It's good to see her realistically. Wisened enough to admit she only has "one calling" and has focused her career on that, full well knowing there is life out there way beyond her knowledge. "if it doesn't make sense, it isn't true" is the most ridiculous line she uses. This life does NOT make sense and alot of things don't but they are indeed true.

@@tubester4567- I agree. And remember that Amazon is notoriously cheap with salaries, maybe she felt that even asking Byrd to take a drastic salary cut would be insulting him. And clearly JJ wanted it to be more like a real courtroom, which meant 2 more salaries. Anyway, IMO Byrd should be grateful for her 25 years of generosity.

Actually Byrd was never forgotten. Judge Judy extended the offer for him to come to her new show but Byrd declined stating he would like to Pursue other endeavors. She respectfully accepted that and went on to choose her new Bailiff who has actually been on Judge Judy but as her security.

In a offhand kind of way she did (4:43 marker). She spoke of the new baliff and how he was her security during the original show. After watching this interview, I believe the reason she chose this new guy is because he is armed. She mentioned about "feeling totally protected". If she didn't contact Byrd to let him know, then that was totally wrong given the years he worked with her.

I’ve been watching Judge for years and I still find it one of the best tv shows on earth. But I have to tell that I am very disappointed and sorry! The way Byrd was dumped was a reason to be ashamed of. I don’t think I will ever watch this show again. Shame Judy Sheindlin!!

That is terrible behavior to treat someone who was a dedicated staff member! After he was later informed, she told him "he was too expensive"! Cruel, indeed.

I just watched two episodes using my iPad. I don’t watch American tv because I got fed up with it’s mediocrity and bias. I watch programs that have subtitles from other countries instead. Not nearly as plastic and fake. Her “guests” are real and often hilariously ignorant and entitled.

So that’s why you lied to byrd about his being there so long he has outpriced himself. What a crock. She just wanted a whole bunch of new faces, her granddaughter, and then she got all chummy chummy with her personal security guard & thought it would be exciting to have a new face for a bailiff that also they could get on the cheap so as not to take away from the salaries of Judy and her family and friends. I think she made a very big mistake because 25 years is a very long time, and a lot of people see her dismissal of him on the new show as a lack of loyalty. She doesn’t quite understand that although she was the judge, byrd was a fixture on that show that people grew to know and love, probably even more than her. I don’t think Judy’s going to make a ton of money off this new show because too many people are disgusted with what she did.

Agree with you. I always loved, and admired her. I used to joke and say to my family "I hope Judge Judy were Prime Minister", but now, she's a huge disappointment after what she did to BYRD. How can't she realise that BYRD was loved by all who watched her programme? I can't imagine the show without BYRD, it doesn't make sense. The new show hasn't been advertised yet in Europe, but if it comes here, I won't watch it.

I won't be a fan of the new show without Byrd. I love Judge Judy but I love Byrd also. I can't believe she more or less brushed him under the rug. Everyone knows that not all things are about money. Sometimes it's about family or taking one for the team. He said it himself, he wasn't even offered the decision to negotiate pay. Morally, this isn't right and unacceptable Judge Judy. This sucks because I really loved the old show & wanted to love the new one. Guess I'll just watch the reruns that includes Byrd. Love you Byrd. I'm taking one for you sense she didn't.

I think she made a big mistake when she dumped Byrd. She told him that he had priced himself out of a job. I would be more in sympathy with what she said if I didn't know how many hundreds of millions of dollars she is worth. She could pay Byrd's salary out of her own pocket and still have more money left than my 100 closest friends and I will see in our lifetimes. I don't think I'll be watching her any more. Greed is not a pretty sight.

A curious if not stupid opinion that suggests someone who was no more important to the show or its success than the podiums on the set! Her comment also ignores the gazillions more Byrd was paid than anyone in that job affording him wealth far beyond his dreams. He can thank Judge Judy for that and be happy he was so lucky. Maryann apparently knows nothing about business or economics. Judge Judy did not have to pay him out of her salary and there was only one star Judge Judy on that show!

My mother was the same age as this judge, and they both looked like twins down to the hair style. It freaked me out the first time I saw Judge Judy but I did love to tease my mother by calling her Judy whenever she was bitchy.

The way she did her bailiff Byrd dirty after like 25 years of being with her made me second guess how she really is in person away from putting on the act for the cameras. Even complaining she thought he mad too much money when she was making 10x what he was. That’s just terrible shows her true colors

No one is watching Judy Justice. She should have stayed a year or two more on Judge Judy and they should have done a one hour sit down with her for prime time, that way it gave closure to the fans and could have acknowledged her 20+ year reign as the Queen of the Court. She had a great gig over there too. Filmed about 4 weeks out of the year and was making $47 million a year.

TV used to be entertaining, interesting and informative. Today - it's about crime, violence and lies. You bring humor and knowledge to TV. Haven't seen ur new show yet - I live in southern Calif. Her granddaughter is the ultimate snob, with the way she laughs at people and always has this know it all look when conferring with her grandmother in chambers. Can't stand her!!
