This week I am in one of my all-time favourite cars, the Volvo V40.

Just brought a V40 a few months ago ... in part thanks to your review. Clever, fun, accurate. Even though its interior is a bit outdated... its an incredible car. Thanks.

We have a 2016 V40 T4 2.0 litre turbo and it is a “ keeper.” Everything you liked about your car lines up with our likes. Love your quirky review. A real change from the usual boring “ we know everything” petrol head journo’s that are usually served up. Many thanks. 😁

Look at the video where they roll a V40 sideways........then tell me you want an Audi. Also Audis don't have indicators fitted as standard.......at least not on our roads 😁

This feels like a metafiction as she’s like just talking about the car but also living her “usual” ride to somewhere as she sings and complains about the traffic and such very charming in my opinion although I’d put the singing portions less often

Test drive on Tuesday. Don't think I could go for the light interior - it would get too mucky.

Have to disagree. The light enterior makes it feel bigger inside and lets not get started on what blacl leather looks like when it ages :/

We love this car and wants to get one but we also love audi a4 and it's hard to deside

between this car and the Audi A4, hmm, buy an S60 with the T6 engine, Summum trim level and the supplemental safety pack, dont ask me how they call that in your country, LOL Here is why, if you are cross shopping with the A4 it means you need some decent space in the trunk, and the V40 just doesnt have it, ITS A CITY HATCHBACK,, like the A3 from audi. The A4 is a sedan with a much larger truck, doh it is a larger vehicle, and the equivalent from volvo of the A4 is the S60. interior wise it is very very similar to the V40 in this video, but with much better materials for the seats, LOL. otherwise it has the same dashboard, and very similar central console. especially if you are one of those people who loves having knobs and buttons instead of stupid IPADs , like I do.

Do you think the start/stop is dangerous in South Africa where theres a higher risk of carjacking ? Loving the singing as always - always makes me smile :) This one is before the new touchscreen ( your favourite ) infotainment system

I'm not fond of start-stop technology either. My friend's 2015 Merc C class had an engine failure because of it, thankfully it was still under warranty.

Pad a, the doors all auto locked after 5 seconds entry, for let's say the dodgy parts of the world, ! I find it a pain in the UK, if I give a lady a lift,the look on their face when they hear the doors lock is priceless, you can override it, !

I would love to know why the South African market is so obsesses with black leather interiors. They're hot in our climate and makes the cosy cabin seem claustrophobic. Black black black on the used market. *sigh*
