Your cottage garden video series inspired me so much yesterday morning that I went to my local gardening store and purchased 12 new perennials and finally finished (for now) my cottage garden. So grateful! ❤

Lol, my husband asked what’s that noise? I said, I think cicadas. Wow, I would need earplugs. And Lordy! What a crop of boxelder bugs!! Yikes! Looks like you have a wonderful playground. Yes, to geraniums needing sun-they crave it. The impatiens always brighten up a shady area en masse. I’m not a fan of hostas. There was a plaintan hosta here and it created a mat border and I’ve tried to get rid of it. It’s in the lawn also and one snippet of root and it’s back. I was given guacamole and do love the lime color, but will be watching for bad behavior. The astilbe I now understand why my FIL surrounded it with rocks 😅 it took a few years, but as the shade tree grew-So did It! And with all this rain it’s doing equally as well in full sun. It’s been unbearable heat, humidity and mosquitoes in WI. Can’t do anything outside so I went shopping and when you showed turtles-I got glass fish with a blue glass bubble solar light😂.

an idea for the front of the driveway garden would be pastels yarrow. Slowly spreads, super tough, doesn't need fertilizer or extra water and each bloom on the plant is a different pastel color and the foliage is nice too. spreads a bit too if it's happy. the foliage stays real low and the flower spikes get about a foot maybe 18 inches high. I think it might be your style
@gardeningTLC
@gardeningTLC 13 дней назад
Yes I have that one in the cottage garden. Thanks for your idea.

Well, we haven't had any measurable rain all month. So we're crisp. It's in the mid 90's most days and I can't water because of health so I think I've lost some plants which is tragic. Plants are expensive and I worked so hard on it the previous year. Have you ever counted how many plants you have? You're right to think about winter plants, so your garden won't look so bare. I put in several mungo pines and abroviataes. I need something with red twigs. Here the pansies last all winter and I had window boxes full of them which was a delight to look at.

You make experimenting in the garden a delight as I, too, think it should be. And then there is the challenge: why is the plant doing this when it is touted to do the opposite. That's the puzzle; that's the fun.

Beautiful! Your front area looks really nice now, funny how ‘less is more’. Your cottage garden is coming along beautiful, man it has grown so much already👍 Aww man, you just finished with a million Cicada carcasses and a new bug takes over 🤦‍♀️… I’d be throwing in the towel 😂😂! I usually don’t watch live videos as it seems I’m watching the host look at her computer screen and answering questions that weren’t read out or on the screen 🤷🏻‍♀️ but it sounds like you have a different plan which might be good. Perhaps your way will make it possible to watch it at a later time than it ran so it will make sense and be a benefit🙏🏻. Thanks Michelle, Brenda🇨🇦

I can grow things, but when it's time to cut back, prune, and winterize, I do it wrong and end up killing everything. So please continue any information as the season goes on about what to do with plants once they're spent, pruning, and winterizing. Thank you.❤

Your Willow Orbs are the cat's meow! 😻They look so quaint as does your v-shaped hanging baskets! By your AC, I love the layering effect you achieved. Beautiful and inviting to walk down the steps and see more of your garden! That's the goal of landscaping, right - lead you from one area to the next. I love Quick Fire and Oakleaf Hydrangeas, too. I need to expand my collection of Mopheads and add more texture in my Front Garden. Just wondering...have you ever grown Elephant's Ear?
@gardeningTLC

Yes but I can never get them big enough...and the whole starting them early, digging them up, storing...I try to avoid that whenever possible.

I love loosestrife 😊 I thought I was the only person that does lol I have a yellow one that stayed well behaved in my garden. I recently moved and my neighbour hates it and has been throwing it away for years so the property nearby has a small wild field of it growing 🙄 I wish I had some of all colors 😊 Thanks for sharing your hard work, it looks fabulous 😊 Also, do you like gladiolus? I had 18 last year and this year the bulbs seemed to have tripled and I have no idea where to put them. They’re just temporarily growing in my veggie garden and seem quite content there 😅 My flower garden doesn’t seem to be offering me a spot for them. My knockout roses were doing great but now only two out of the four are blossoming, not sure why the other two are sleeping 😢 Thanks again for the videos 😊

What fun to see your gardens! I think I can identify two of your hostas. They are both vase shaped. The blue one is Krossa Regal and the big white-edged one with a lantern stuck in it is Sagae, or I will eat my hat! I think you are right about your pots needing more sun, especially that one with the plant in the center that you mentioned not being silver. I think it is turning green from lack of sun. Maybe in that hot spot by the driveway where the black eyed Susans are would be happier with a variegated sedum? I think that it's an interesting foliage plant. Maybe there's another succulent that would be prettier. Your property looks GREAT. My goodness it is big. Look out Klehm, you have company! :D
@gardeningTLC
