How I converted an old Halliburton aluminum suitcase into a really cool portable case for my modular synthesizer.

Yeah, 90% isopropyl with salt was a great idea. I think i missed that part before. Great video, really relaxing.

Very cool! I really like the style you've put into this. Several months ago, I built a very simple 84HP system into a box I found at Goodwill - a case for one of those giant Nikon telephoto lenses - and it's served me quite well except for the fact that I've since filled it up.

Thank you! I’ve found some pretty cool finds at Goodwill, including this case!

Now you gotta get some 1u modules! Love the build, super clean. I've tangled with industrial glues before; that's some sticky stuff!

Thank you. I’m thinking about building some 1U utility modules from scratch for those spaces.

Excellent video! Been wanting to build a case like that for a while. What are those hinges called? Looks cooler than the usual lift-off hinges I see in eurorack cases

Try searching for “sugatsune quick release hinge."

Nice, I came across this case and thought it would make a good eurorack case. Glad someone pulled it off. What's the purpose of the isolators? Electric shock? Also which size case did you use?
@SISKworks
@SISKworks Год назад
The isolators are more just for physical isolation to bumps and vibration. Not exactly NEEDED though. I could have just used bolts. This is how Pulp Logic (where I bought the rails) does it so I just followed and did the same. Worked out really well. Not too sure of the size of case though. I can check later if you need to know.

@@SISKworks Thanks for the info. One more question, what did you do about power? I didn't see places where you drilled through. How do you prevent electric shock with the bus boards?
@SISKworks
@SISKworks Год назад
@@guysmiley7289 the power for the flying bus comes from a module. The power supply is external and plugs into the front of the module. I think it is the “4ms Row Power 45” I’m not really worried about the flying bus shorting out against the case, don’t think it would be possible.

nice job! is that 84hp? Can I get some more info about detachable hinge and sidepanel for 7u?
@SISKworks
@SISKworks 4 месяца назад
It is slightly over 96hp wide. I should have made it exactly 96 but wasn't thinking and cut the rails for max width that would fit in the case. I got the side rails from Pulp Logic (look for him on Etsy) and they helped this build so much. I've tried making my own side rails before for another case and its so hard to get all the holes EXACT. The hinges are marked "LAMP lt SUS304" on them but it looks like they are also sold by Sugatsune Industries. you can find a few different options if you search for "sugatsune quick release hinge."

@@SISKworks That is exactly what I am looking for! I am thinking about going with Intellijel 7u and seems not many options for side cheek for 7u (maybe the reason of different preference of layout, top, and middle). Sugatsune quick release hinge is also intresting! It is time to find a Halliburton zero case! It was really helpful for ideation for building a case :)

I though you were going to use homemade modules in the case. Ever think of doing that?
@SISKworks
@SISKworks Год назад
Yeah for sure. I’m just not there yet. I Just barely started learning PCB design. So far I’ve only made a simple Buffered Multiple.

I just purchased a Halliburton suitcase from a thrift store. Would you possibly be able to convert it to a eurorack case for me for a fee of course?
@SISKworks
@SISKworks 21 день назад
I’m not too sure about this. I would need to change quite a bit a lot to make it worth my time. It was a lot of work. But that’s why I made the video, so people could do it themselves.

@@AllisterDotDash you can try “rhythmdialtechno” on instagram. Looks like they built cases.
