I set out to dive another site on the river, it is wide and fast, but, when I arrived the current was moving faster than I felt was safe, even with my Genesis 600 DPV. So I moved on to an alternate site that I love to dive.
So glad you are back. Super hectc kind of day happening here. Watching and listening to the water sounds in your video so relaxed me. HA nw I do not want to get up and go back to work. I enjoyed my dinner while watching. Dang that beer would have been amazing with my cheese burger.
Is this the river that has the honey hole?(where everything gathers in a whirlpool, in one spot?) You Would have been sucked into that vortex with those currents for sure!! When you visit Florida, what part to you visit? I’m in Vero Beach, central east coast. I wouldn’t suggest diving anywhere in this state, too many gators!! But the beaches are great (in the water, waist deep) with a metal detector!! Thanks for the adventures!! Nice to see you again!
Good to hear from you. Yes this is the place with the Vortex, being in the middle of it is very calm compare to getting in and out of it. My trips to Florida to dive have been to the Keys, I like to wreck dive, there is just something about seeing a ship on the bottom. Vero Beach looks lovely! Good place to retire?
People use pencil sinkers in hopes of not getting snagged and have little resistance in the water. The shad (zombie fish) is a little late. Usually April to June. Good to see you back!
That mask you came across got me at first. Had the look of a Beauty School training head ( for lack of better words ). You'd think being in all that water you wouldn't get dehydrated. But its easier than people think. Glad to see you back ! Have fun & keep safe !! :~)
I look down at a text message and look back up to the floating face, startled me to death. 🤣 Yes Mark you’re an enabler…but what the heck, he’s happy. Haha! Looks like you need to go to a couple of your favorite lakes until the currents settle down a bit, those are crazy! Drink lots of fluids, that’s dangerous and by the way beer dehydrates! 🥺
A bit late this year on catching up with your videos but on this video I'm surely glad you came out safely from that small hand net that gave you trouble.
Yes, the long skinny sinkers that have no holes are called slip sinkers, they slip into rubber surgical tubing so if they get snagged they pull off the line, they get used a lot for salmon fishing...
I'm always amazed that, at the speeds which you seem to be sailing along, are still able to spot collectables on the bottom!---Great spookiness this trip (the fish and the mask!).---Hold a magnet next to that earring...precious metal won't adhere.
Boy, that current looks strong ! Another nice video Mark ! Stay safe out there and I’m looking forward to your next video . That beer you placed on your table looked good !
Hey Mark, if you intend to keep diving this area you might want to look into one of those collapsible grappling hooks to use as an anchor. They are relatively cheap, about $50 if I remember right. I was going to get one for magnet fishing but knew I'd lose it in the Texas snags. As usual enjoyed your adventure surprised your go pro stays attached with all the bumping and tumbling. Be careful my friend ! Gary
Hi Gary, I think a grappling hook would be working against the idea having a DPV (scooter) to be mobile. 🙂 But thanks for the idea! I actually found a grappling hook a few years ago. It is always good to hear from you!
Hi! That mask and the way it was hung there was scary! Yikes! Do you ever get scared down there by yourself? The mask looked like a cover of a spooky book😯🙃
I have been startled on occasion. I have been creeped out now and then (this is when I turn around and go the other way). I have been grossed out and disgusted. But, scared. No. I listen to my senses and avoid getting to the point of fear, that is when diver's make fatal mistakes. Staying calm and reasoning things out is key. TMI?
I am not a trash troll so I understand that there is just so much trash that you just cannot get. But I am thankful for what you do get out of the waters. You are a hero. Thank you Mark.
Watching your videos at the start of the pandemic really helped me cope with my anxiety, so thank you for that. Your eyesight is amazing for the speed you do!
Danielle! I am so happy you were able to find relief watching the videos...🙂🙂🙂 Thank you so much for telling me! Covid was difficult for everyone, I really wanted to be out making videos during that time but, no-one was out losing stuff for me to find. 🥰
Really happy your back at it!! Definitely missed your videos!!! Have you thought about using a large opening container to take with you (bunch of holes drilled in it) to hold larger fishing lures or other items in
Hi Josh, I have toyed with that ideaBut I don"t want another thing hanging on me. It would need to be so long to accommodate the larger lures. I had a larger plastic tackle box but it was smashed on a dive I need to get a picture on day of me walking to the water... some much to carry! I appreciate you suggesting it !
@@mokpot I definitely understand that for sure!!! Having lots of gear can be a hassle that's for sure. I was thinking a large plastic mayo jug or even the plastic container m&m's from Costco. Other divers I follow use things like that to keep larger items/fishing lures in.
@@mokpot No worries I must of had a brain fart I went and got my cert years ago part of the cert was to unhook all the gear under water and get back into it in case you got tangled up.
@@mokpot Sadly not I have put a bunch of weight on and I am trying to get healthy and drop this weight and get healthy again. I am in the process of starting a new business once I get some deals under my belt I will have the money to travel and get some gear. I really want to get one of those portable machines that floats on the water with a car battery and provides air for shallow dives . Some of these systems can provide up to two hours of air. I forgot now what they call them I probably wont be doing any deep dives. I need to get my recert there is no way I would go out now been too long. My goal is to get out of this rut and start living again . I wish I had people go dive with but people now days just want to be left alone. Keep up the great work on your videos I have always loved them
Glad to see you back! Was concerned something may have happened. Always enjoy your adventures in the deep...or semi deep. Just wondering if wearing dive boots instead of fins would make it easier to stabilize yourself when you "touch down" for a few seconds so you don't end up playing Look! I'm in a tumble dryer!😁 Oh and cold beer, as refreshing as it is, isn't great for rehydrating. Just sayin.😊 Be safe and look forward to more dives!👍👍👍
