The live band is “Ghost Band” which is BTS’ backup band during live performances and led by DOCSKIM on the keys who arranged this version of the song. DOCSKIM also main producer for “Lie” and my favorite BTS track “Outro:Tear”. He’s so talented and his arrangements are always so interesting and intricate. I hope BTS works with him again on next album tracks!

They all sounded AMAZING. I just luv Jimin’s voice sm. My eyes literally started crying when Jimin started singing. No artist in the world ever made me cry bc of their voice until I got into BTS and heard Jimin. That mans voice just touches my heart and the emotion he puts in it. He’s an insane vocalist! I’m absolutely proud of the vocalist jimin has become. This was the person who had to sit outside the room while other members were getting vocal lessons just so he could get some parts of the training and practice on his own 😭

Jimin going viral as “the little black hair guy with the bowl cut” for his beautiful vocals… this is so wholesome. He’s the only artist that ever made me cry because of his voice. It’s just so soothing, healing, and comforting. Jimin such a breathtaking vocalist. He executes every song so perfectly with his vocals and the way he does adlibs, high notes, vocal runs and the way he perfectly harmonizes with every one so beautifully and also conveys the emotions of the songs so raw and perfect like?

The Live Band: Ghost Band, who also joined them in their live performance for NPR Tiny Desk Home Concert last year (2020). And Boy, PARK JIMIN!!! OMG He hits the high notes for Faith Evans' line. I agree! I think some ppl "sleep" on Tae's voice bc some ppl only focus on high notes. Tae adds a lot of texture in BTS songs. His range is able to "texturize" their songs from his baritone voice to falsetto... it was very evident on this song 🎵 All the vocalists are very talented, but I think sometimes V's voice gets overlooked even though his voice adds the necessary tone that distinguishes BTS sound.

Totally agree. I’ve always preferred baritone voices so Tae’s voice quickly became my favorite. Plus, his tone and texture is nothing I’ve heard before so to me his voice is also the most unique. Even my mom, who’s been a musician her entire life, quickly picked up on Tae’s voice and said she likes his voice, tone, coloring the best. Singularity is her favorite BTS song. Even a Billboard article said that Tae’s voice is what sets BTS apart from other groups. Oh well, not everyone may appreciate his beautiful vocals but I sure do!

Park Jimin’s vocals is beautiful and incredible! The emotions is felt and it’s so touching to hear him sing. His high notes slayed throughout. His “Somebody tell me why” and “I’ll be missing you” will be remembered. Well deserved he goes viral again as the little boy with bowl cut, as he always do.

UGH JIMINS VOICE IS EVERYTHING! That mans voice is a gem💎Like Jimin has the most unique vocal color and range. He has such a beautiful and quite distinct vocal timbre. His pretty vocals add a new layer of flavour to every song and he can pull off any type of style or genre. Jimin is one of the finest vocalists in the music industry. That man is just in insane vocalist. One of a kind. I could listen to him all day. His voice just heals me and gives me sm comfort. Like how can someone sing like that? The backup band's name is Ghost Band - they're excellent! I don't know if they can be considered the "formal" BTS band, but they have been on tour with them and whenever there are live backing band needed in these types of shows, it's them (SNL, NPR). One of the members (on keyboard) is Docskim, who is also one of Big Hit/Hybe producers. His BTS remixes are bangers! In fact, I think all of their members have individually worked with BTS' team at some point in the past. I was in college when this song was released and it was everywhere! Gave me goosebumps watching BTS cover it. Going in, I was expecting V to stand out as well, and boy I was not disappointed. I grew up loving R&B and this cover really touches my soul. V and Jimin's high/low harmony gave me chills - especially when they went in "somebody tell me why, one glad morning, when this life is over, I know I'll see your face"... just exposing my heart like that, thinking of my mom who passed 13 years ago (love you mom).

In my opinion, your reaction to this song was one of the best bc you really understood their voices. Some reactors only focus on high notes but not the overall texture of the song. You totally nailed the texture of this song from high to low notes to the ad libs as well as the rap.

This is the 2nd time BTS has covered an English song this year (2021) for MTV Unplugged it was Coldplay’s “Fix You”. Now for BBC Radio 1 “I’ll Be Missing You”, with RM doing the opening rap in English like the original and Suga and J-Hope substituting Korean lyrics for their parts. My personal opinion, Jimin is the MVP for Faith Evan's high notes. Special Shout out to The Police, Sting, Puff Daddy/P. Diddy, Faith Evans, 112. 90s Vibe. I agree that Joon and Tae were really great here, but it was Tae and Jimin who really shone for me. I love the Korean that Yoonie and Hobi did and there are translations already. Ps. This song is part of my childhood, both versions from The Police (my uncle played it every Sunday) and I was in High School when stuff went down with Biggie, so it's very gratifying for me to see the boys do it so well.

They released the translated lyrics ahead of the premier so we could follow along! I loved this cover so much and I’m so so so happy the rapline got to show off and the vocal line showed their RANGE. Personally I LOVE that they rapped in Korean. I did hear it a lot and I’m happy I did. It’s a cover and they made it their own. but we each have our opinions and that’s ok lol

all of them did so well! personally vmin stood out so much mainly bc of their range, loved how jk is mostly on her lower register in here the adlibs were amazing as always, seokjin's falsettos lets not even start with the silver voice. the rapline arrangement was amazing how they wrote and changed some lyrics to fit the situation, yoongi's verse hit me the most.AND THE BAND!!! as always they were so amazing, the arrangement was everything. amazing amazing amazing

OMG Charlie, I was waiting for you to hear this and see your reaction, Ghost is BTS's Band. They are hot. That guitar sounded sooooo good. All of the boys sounded good BUT Jimin and V did not "play with their food, they ate it up"!!!!!!!!! Yes, Hobi was rocking those boots. I love BTS so much, they are my boys. The vocals were just beautiful and I swear I just cried all over again and the rap line really gave this song just so much love. This rendition was so ideal for this moment in time and the original will always be such a special song too ❤️❤️❤️

I agree that V suits this song because of his soulful voice but damn Jimin just nailed this for me, even those who are not an army noticed Jimin, it’s just that his voice is very unique and naturally high even Jin, and Jungkook with that vocal runs and his stable voice 😭❤️
