Bob Wilkin of the Grace Evangelical Society answers the question, "Is repentance is an inherent contradiction of the Gospel?" Justin Peters at one time faced this dilemma and turned to Calvinism for his answer. That is repentance is not a work since it is given by God. Bob Wilkin looks at whether biblically the answer provided by Calvinism is correct, and answers the question of "Whether repentance is required for eternal life?"

So sad that Justin Peters never believed in Jesus for everlasting life that is irrevocable that can never be lost. Peters is a very nice likable man, but sadly his theory is wrong, and not biblical at all. Peters worships John MacArthur like if he is a god himself. Calvinism is a serious dangerous heresy, who they live in doubt and never know if they are saved or not. Thanks for sharing.

TRUE BIBLICAL REPENTANCE IS METANOIA: A CHANGE OF MIND FROM THE "LETTER AND LABOUR OF THE LAW" TO FAITH ALONE IN THE FINISHED WORK OF CHRIST THROUGHOUT HIS MINISTRY! DEATH! BURIAL AND RESURRECTION! IT IS A CHANGE OF MIND FROM TRUSTING IN YOURSELF OR ANYTHING OTHER THAN CHRIST TO CHRIST! God bless you 🙏❤

Christ's work is not finished its still ongoing. Example 2 Peter 3:9 9The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Jesus's mission for the new covenant was completed on the cross but He's not finished with man. Glory to God. You are correct change your mind about those sins and all sins

Jesus died for our sins. First Corinthians 15:1-4. Galatians 1:6-9. If anyone preaches any other gospel than that we have preached unto you, LET THEM BE ACCURSED. As we said before, so say I again. If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received from us, LET HIM BE ACCURSED. The gospel. First Corinthians 15:1-4. That Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures, that HE was buried and rose again on the third day, according to the scriptures. Romans 1:16. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the POWER of God unto salvation TO EVERYONE THAT BELIEVETH, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Colossians 2:13. He has forgiven us ALL trespasses. First John 2:2. And He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only, but for the sins of the whole world. Jesus paid our sin debt in full so we can never be condemned to hell again. John 3:18. UNBELIEVERS are condemned to hell already because they have not believed on the name of the Son of God. Romans 4:7-8. Blessed is the man whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

So, you believe you can save yourself, and Jesus died in vain. Galatians 2:21. I do not void the grace of God, for if righteousness come by the Law, then Christ is dead in vain. You are trusting in what you do to save you instead of what Jesus did for you. Matthew 7:21-23. You have never done the will of His Father in heaven. John 6:40 and John 6:29. You will hear, depart from me I never knew you. You have made the cross of no effect. You are going to tell God you did not need a savior. You saved yourself. Jesus died for your sins, past, present, and future sins you have not even thought of yet. Romans 4:7-8. But you will not accept His free gift of eternal life that He paid for with His own blood. Acts 16:31. Until you admit you are a sinner and need a savior, you are not saved.

@jimkraft9445 I don't believe in my ways like you do. We've been over this you reject Jesus's teaching on repentance and continue believing in your guru Ralph Yankee Arnold one of the worst grace perverter teachers on RU-vid. Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. 2 Corinthians 7:9-10 yet now I am happy, not because you were made sorry, but because your sorrow led you to repentance. For you became sorrowful as God intended and so were not harmed in any way by us. 10Godly sorrow brings REPENTANCE THAT LEADS TO SALVATION and leaves no regret but WORLDLY SORROW BRINGS DEATH. Repentance not a claim of belief results in Salvation.

First Corinthians 15:1-4. That Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures, that HE was buried and rose again on the third day, according to the scriptures. Galatians 1:6-9 Though we or an angel from heaven preach any other gospel unto you than that we have preached unto you, LET THEM BE ACCURSED. As we said before, so say I again, If any man preaches any other gospel unto you than that ye have received from us. LET HIM BE ACCURSED. The gospel. Christ died for our sins. ALL of them forever. Past, present, and future. And He remembers them no more. Romans 4:7-8. He has cast our sins as far as the east is from the west. Colossians 2:13. He has forgiven us ALL trespasses. To repent of your sins means you do not believe Jesus died for all your sins. It is to call God a liar. It is to tell God you can save yourself. That you do not need a savior. You can earn your way to heaven. You believe God will accept you on your own merit. You have perverted the gospel and made salvation what you do, instead of what Jesus did for you. He died to pay for all your sins so you would not have to go to hell to pay for them. But, you will not accept His payment for your sins, which means you will go to hell to pay for your sins. The GIFT of God is eternal life. But you will not accept the GIFT. So you do not have eternal life and you will go to hell because you will not believe He died for all your sins. First John 2:2. He died for the sins of the whole world, but only those who accept it are saved. John 3:18. Unbelievers are condemned to hell already.

So someone struggles - struggling assumes working- and if they fail in the struggle they are not believers, but the next day they succeed in repentance and win the struggle and that was a gift from God. In both cases same person different outcome same struggle yet one struggle wasn't a struggle because it's a gift. Then why is there a struggle just as the failed day had and a sense of reward for suffering through temptation and succeeding? It's like saying all day someone labored to finish particular tasks and in their diligence they succeeded and were rewarded only because in all that it was a free gift. Huh? Didn't the parables Jesus mention about labor reflect upon the rewards a laborer earns through faithful work? Here we go again with the lordship salvation view et al conflating ideas! Is it not far more in accordance with Scripture to just take the Apostle Paul at his words and accept( to him that work not, but believes)? And to one that works, his labor is accredited according to what he has done.

No read the verse: Jonah 3:10 “And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.” (KJV) This verse clearly says Turning from your wicked ways is Works!!! It defines Repent / Repentance as a change of mind. God Repented he changed his mind.

Repentance in the Greek is the compound word metanoeo… meta=> to change; noeo=> the mind… So, to repent is to simply change one’s mind re: any given subject… my Christian walk has caused me to change my thinking on many things and continues to do so…

We cannot use only the literal etymology of a word to define it. Instead we must include the connotations that have come to be associated with the word throughout its historic development. Etymologically "metanoia might be "change of mind" but it is more than a change of mind about which party to vote for in the next election. The full contextual historical definition in Thayer's Greek Lexicon is: a CHANGE OF MIND: as it appears in one who repents of a PURPOSE he has formed or of SOMETHING HE HAS DONE...especially the change of mind of those who have begun to ABHOR THEIR ERRORS AND MISDEEDS, and have determined to enter upon a better course of life, so that it embraces both a RECOGNITION OF SIN and SORROW for it and hearty AMENDMENT, the tokens and effects of which are good deeds (Lactantius, 6, 24, 6 would have it rendered in Latin byresipiscentia) (A. V. repentance): Matthew 3:8, 11; Luke 3:8, (16 Lachmann); Luke 15:7; Luke 24:47; Acts 26:20; βάπτισμα μετανοίας, a baptism binding its subjects to repentance (Winer's Grammar, § 30, 2 β.)...used merely of the improved spiritual state resulting from DEEP SORROW FOR SIN biblehub.com/thayers/3341.htm

Love bobs teaching, have learned a lot. I still a bit confused on repentance. Bob defines it as turning from sin. Which i can see it is in certain passages. But in others it seams to be a change of mind or atitude. On top of that we see God repented may times, so obviosly, it doesnt always mean turn from sin??

Repenting of sins is indeed a work. But just repenting is NOT a work. Repenting is simply to change one’s mind or to change course or direction (turn). When scripture says repent in relation to sin, it indeed means repent of sin. But when scripture says just repent, one must understand what the scripture is saying to repent from or toward. Jesus himself said “repent ye, and believe the gospel” (Mark 1:15). With a clear understanding of the meaning of repent, one can clearly see that Jesus was saying to turn from unbelief, and toward belief, in the gospel.

Calvinist take a verse like Ephesians 2:8-9. For by grace ye are saved, through FAITH, and that not of yourselves. They make faith not of our selves because they believe a person cannot be saved unless God gives them the faith to believe. It is not the faith that is not of our selves, it is the GIFT OF GOD that is not of ourselves. Romans 4:5. Faith apart from works. So, faith is not a work. Faith produces nothing. And Romans 6:23. Plainly teaches that the GIFT of God is ETERNAL LIFE. Not faith or a reward for good behavior. They take a few verses out of context and say salvation is by grace apart from works, but, if you are truly saved you will have works. It is a complete contradiction. It is double talk. The bible says, Romans 3:26-28. For He is the just and the justifier. Where is boasting then? We have nothing to boast in because we did nothing for it but believe it which is not a work. John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that BELIEVETH on me, HATH, (PRESENT TENSE) EVERLASTING LIFE. They pervert the free gift by adding to it. They add discipleship to salvation. No one ever got saved by following Jesus. We are saved because He gives us eternal life as a free gift. The problem is, it is to simple. Acts 16:31. Period. Do not add to it or take from it. It is partly we know that we have to work for everything we get in this life. We try to carry that over into salvation, and you will work harder and harder and harder trying to pay for the free gift. It is impossible to pay for a free gift. People go around with this huge yoke of bondage trying to save themselves. Salvation by works never works. It is impossible to earn salvation. That is why we have Romans 11:6. ALL grace, no works. IT CAN NOT BE EARNED. We have to keep salvation which is a free gift, from discipleship which is for rewards in heaven of the believer. First Corinthians 3:11-15. And, if a believer is living in those sins named in Colossians 3:5-6, then God does chasten His children. But salvation can never be lost. God cannot lie. John 6:47. John 3:18. Faith alone for salvation. Good works for rewards in heaven. Lots of unbelievers do good works, but they have never accepted the free gift, and are trusting in what they do instead of what Jesus did for us. Matthew 7:21-23. They never did the will of His father in heaven. John 6:40. And this is the will of Him who sent me, that ALL that seeth the Son, and believeth on Him, may have everlasting life, AND I WILL RAISE HIM UP ON THE LAST DAY. God cannot lie. John 6:29. Bible repentance for salvation is a change of mind. The Greek word metanoia. It simply means to change your mind. It means to go from trusting in what we do or do not do, to trusting totally in what Jesus did for us. We cannot add to the gospel. We can only receive the free gift by faith alone. Then they go to James. Faith without works is dead. James was writing to Jewish converts when he called them brethren. He was telling them to go on to good works for profit in heaven. Rewards. First Corinthians 3:11-15. Not for salvation. We have to rightly divide the word of truth. Salvation by grace excludes works or the law. Galatians 2:21. I do not void the grace of God, for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. No one can live up to Gods perfect standard of righteousness. But when we accept Him alone for the free gift of salvation He imputes His perfect righteousness to our account. Romans 4:6. Jesus said, unless our righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, we cannot enter the kingdom. Second Corinthians 5:21. For HE who knew no sin, Jesus, became sin for us, so that we might become the RIGHTEOUSNESS of God in Him. Ephesians 1:13-14. Born again by the Spirit of God. But, now we have a new sinless nature, but the new birth did not eradicate our first birth. We still have the old man plus the new man. Romans 7. The old man still sin, but the new man can not sin. First John 3:9. Whosoever is born of God doeth not commit sin, for His seed, Ephesians 1:13, remaineth in him, and He, the Holy Spirit cannot sin. But our flesh birth still does. First John 1:8. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the TRUTH is not in us. We cannot be made perfect in the flesh. Only in the Spirit. Colossians 2:13. He has forgiven us ALL TRESPASSES. It is the two natures that we have trouble with. We can either walk in the flesh or in the Spirit. And, our relationship as a child of God, John 1:12, never changes. Our fellowship can. Our own children can do things they know we do not want them to do, and they get out of fellowship with us. But, they are still our children. Our relationship never changed. Only our fellowship. First John 2:2. And He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only, but for the sins of the whole world. But, only those who accept the free gift are saved. Acts 16:31. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved and thy house. John 3:18. Believers are no longer condemned, but UNBELIEVERS are condemned already because they have not believed on the name of the Son of God. Jesus plus nothing = salvation by grace. Wow. I did not mean to write a book. But I want people to know they have eternal life. Hebrews 13:5. He will never leave us or forsake us. He will never cast us out. John 6:37. John 10:28-29. No one can pluck us from His hand. John 6:39. Jesus has never lost one sheep. And one of my all time favorite verses in the bible. First John 5:13. @@jimkraft9445 Repentance only occurs in behavioral settings with reference to turning from sin in every one of the 55 NT usages . Yours is a textbook Etymological and Root fallacy, , combined with a Totality Transfer fallacy . The constituent parts of a word's origin doesn't determine its later contextual nuance . Example : the word "gay" . Never once is metanoia found in the Book of John - written that unbelievers can be born again with Everlasting Life . Repentance is not faith nor a necessary precursor to it , ever . Not one passage in the Bible states : "Whosoever repents has Everlasting Life".

The reason you do not find it there is because believing is repenting. Repenting is believing. Acts 16:31 is repenting. Going from unbelief to belief. Change your mind and believe on Jesus for the free gift of eternal life. That is repentance for salvation. You did not believe it before you heard the gospel, First Corinthians 15:1-4, but now you do. You changed your mind and believed the gospel. The Greek word for repent is metanoia. It means to change your mind. The Pharisees would not repent, change their mind and believe Jesus was their Messiah. I have done nothing except to explain what repentance for salvation means. It means the same thing as John 6:47. Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that BELIEVETH on me HATH EVERLASTING LIFE. John 3:18. First John 5:13. Believing is repenting. For the GIFTS and calling of God are without repentance. Irrevocable, can not be changed back. OSAS.

Every false teacher adds the word sin to repent. It is not there, but they add it. When Jesus told the Pharisees to repent or you will all likewise perish like when the tower fell and killed a lot of people. The Pharisees were trusting in their own righteousness. They were self righteous and looked down their long noses at everyone else as though they had no sin. So when Jesus ate and drank with sinners, (who else could he eat and drink with. Romans 3:23) they said He was a wine bibber and could not be their messiah. But, he never once told them to repent of their sins. He just told them to repent. Change their mind and believe is was their messiah, but they would not. Nicodemus was a Pharisee, but he came to Jesus by night and Jesus gave him the gospel of being born again. By believing he was who he said He was. In the book of Acts, Peter said to repent. Not repent of your sins. The Jews had rejected Jesus as their Messiah. Now they had to change their mind, repent, and believe on Jesus for the forgiveness of sin. He even refuted the idea that water baptism had anything to do with the new birth. Acts 11:16. Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how He said, John indeed baptized with water, but ye shall be baptized by the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 1:13-14. God repented several times in the old testament. Does that mean God sinned? Of course not. So, believing that Jesus is the Son of God who died for the sins of the whole world, First John 2:2, is repentance. Romans 11:29 For the gifts and calling of God, John 12:32 are without repentance. Irrevocable. Can not be changed back. First Corinthians 2:14. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness unto him, neither can he know them. IT is the Spirit of God in the born again believer, Ephesians 1:13-14, that leads us into the truth of scripture. Second Peter 3:16. Some twist/wrest the scriptures to their own destruction.

Repent just means to "change your mind". Repent of unbelief. Repenting of sin is works. Jonah 3:10 And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not. Turning from your evil way is works. Turn from unbelief and turn TO Jesus Christ -- true repentance that saves.

Repentance “metanoia” in the Old Testament times was a change of mind. But like a lot of Greek words, as the language progressed through time, repentance had come to mean more than just a change of mind but a turning from sins to God. That’s why word meanings are derived from their usage and not just from their root.

Peters promotes the clearly impossible . Simply put , he contradicts so blatantly what little children can easily see . Ever seen the movie series 'Mission Impossible' ? I have not . I do recall seeing parts of the Television series back in the 60's . Wikipedia states : "Mission: Impossible is a series of American action spy films, based on the 1966 TV series created by Bruce Geller. The series is mainly produced by and stars Tom Cruise, who plays Ethan Hunt, an agent of the Impossible Missions Force (IMF)." The title 'Mission Impossible' - while describing countless death defying ventures cast in a temporal setting - has an eternal corollary . Most particularly with respect to the clear impossibility of entering His Kingdom based on one's behavioral performance (works) . Ephesians 2:8-9 ; Romans 3:20-5:11,11:6 ; Titus 3:5 ; Phillipians 3:9 ; and the book of Galatians uniformly render a behavioral metric for Kingdom entrance out of the question . Whereas , in terms so clear that little children can understand and believe , Christ Jesus offers the endless Gift to all who simply believe in Him for it : John 1:12-13,3:16,4:10-14,5:24,6:47,11:23-27,20:31 . The unattainable = the impossible . Therefore , all who look to their perseverance till death in hopefully good enough behavior (works) - instead of the free gift apart from what they did/are doing/or will yet DO - are indeed engaged in contradicting His Promise . The antithesis of belief in Him (John 3:18) . As such , it can rightly be termed : an Everlasting 'Mission Impossible' .

Agree with Justin Peters. Granting does not mean giving an opportunity - that is redefining "to grant" to create your point. Rather, if I 'grant' you the point in this, I am saying I give you the point, not the opportunity to have it. If I get a land grant, it is land given to me. A scholarship grants money, not just gives an opportunity to come up with your own. One can be granted asylum, granted a visa, and so on.

It certainly can have the nuance of "allow" or to "permit" as an opportunity . It's in Oxford Dictionary 's definition #1 . You agree with Peters that repentance as a work is a NECESSARY condition of entering His Kingdom ? Question : how do you have doubtless certitude that you are the recipient of a Secret Decree that includes your name as having been "chosen/elect" which will undeniably persevere till death in hopefully sufficient evidences (fruit/obedience/faithfulness/workfulness) ?

We can have assurance in Jesus if we humble and ourselves repent and turn away from sin we will the recieve the Gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:38 Peter replied and said unto them REPENT AND BE BAPTIZED every one of you in the name of JESUS CHRIST FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS and YOU WILL RECEIVE THE GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. Acts 5:32 We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.” Romans 8:9 You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. Without repentance no Holy Ghost meaning no Salvation.

@alvinfen4511 It was the very first time in church that some asked How to be saved? 2:37 Amp Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart [with remorse and anxiety], and they said to Peter and the rest of the apostles,[ that would include John] “Brothers, what are we to do Jesus said it is finished on the cross meaning the old covenant was done the new covenant. So being cut to the heart doesn't mean they would've seen heaven if if they'd died right them otherwise, no need for the following verses. 38And Peter said to them, “Repent [change your old way of thinking, turn from your sinful ways, accept and follow Jesus as the Messiah] and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ because of the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39For the promise [of the Holy Spirit] is for you and your children and for all who are far away [including the Gentiles], as many as the Lord our God calls to Himself.” 40And Peter solemnly testified and continued to admonish and urge them with many more words, saying, “BE SAVED from this crooked and unjust generation!” 41So then, those who accepted his message were baptized; and on that day about]3,000 souls were added [to the body of believers]. 3000 Believe were added. They were saved after repentance and water baptized. That harmony stuff is something Hodges came up with. Did he not understand that without repentance there is no Faith?

@@timgrady4630 Repentance is not a work on our part. We know we are chosen when we recognize we are unholy sinners in desperate need, believing on the Lord Jesus alone to save us. Can we remain unrepentant sinners and boast in the lust of the flesh, the eyes and the pride of life? Does Jesus save us to walk in our sin or walk by faith confessing our sin? Do we persevere in our own strength or does God work out all things? Repentance is no more a work than faith is, brother. God has justified us by grace through faith, and He will sanctify us as we grow in obedient service eschewing sin and embracing holiness, and will glorify us in that day. He saves us, and we live out our salvation here and now by means of the Spirit of God believing His Word.

@alvinfen4511 Absolutely Alvin . Undeniable from the text . There's not a single passage in Scripture stating : "Whosoever repents (turns from all sins till death) has Everlasting Life " ...which makes zero sense to begin with . One could not possibly have doubtless certitude of one's subsequent end of the Performance Contract, short of hitting the finish line with "hopefully good enough behavior (works)". All resort to purely fallible criteria is entirely unknowable . Thus , all who posit a subjective element into one's Everlasting destination can only top out at guesswork . That's not faith . That's unbelief (John 3:18 ; Revelation 20:15) .

Exactly . Just had this dialogue with a foremost promoter of that teaching (Onorato Diamante RU-vid channel) : @OnoDiamante Thanks . "Believe" WHAT (?) Is the quintessential issue . The object and content found in every possible Evangelistic/Everlasting Life context provides the undeniable GPS setting . 1. You didn't find "born again with irrevocable Everlasting Life" by belief in His "finished work" (DBR) as the Object/NECESSARY Content in the Book of John , the only book with the explicit purpose statement as Evangelistic (20:31) . Nowhere in any Evangelistic encounter does Jesus require belief in His "finished work" (DBR) , or His attributes to be born again . Ever . Objectively . Verifiably . Exegetically . Thus , undeniably ; to anyone truly invested in the pursuit of truth . 2. You cite 1 Corinthians 15 . Yet , clearly Paul is addressing already born again brethren in a sanctification Discipleship setting . Not an Evangelistic context in order for them to believe a certain "checklist" of arbitrarily selected items that lock it down . Wilkin adds :"First, the Gospel of John was written long after the birth of the Church to tell people in the church age what they must do be saved (John 20:31). Nicodemus (John 3) and the woman at the well (John 4) both came to faith, yet there is no indication that the Lord preached the cross and resurrection to either. (He did allude to the cross in John 3:14-15, but even the disciples did not understand this as a reference to Jesus’ dying. Compare Matt 16:21-23. The eleven disciples were born again years before they believed in Jesus’ death and resurrection.) Second, 1 Corinthians 15 is the great resurrection chapter. Paul is not evangelizing in this chapter. On this side of the birth of the Church, people come to faith in Christ for everlasting life by learning of His death and resurrection for us. Yet that is not the point of 1 Cor 15:1-11. Paul is calling the Corinthians to ongoing sanctification. He is writing to believers in Corinth on the importance of Jesus’ resurrection in their daily walks. Third, vv 1-11 serve to introduce the chapter. Paul’s point in these verses is that the believers in Corinth can be spiritually healthy by holding fast to the good news that Paul preached to them concerning Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection. The salvation mentioned in 1 Cor 15:2 is not a past completed event as in Eph 2:8-9. Instead, it is a present tense ongoing salvation that is contingent on holding fast to the gospel Paul preached. That salvation is being spiritually healthy. Compare 1 Cor 3:15; 5:5." The disciples were regenerate (John 1 & 2) well before understanding the nuances of the DBR, or His intrinsic attributes (John 20:9) . My two boys at less than 7 years old were born again by belief in His doubtless Guarantee (John 3:16) with next to zero understanding of such . No mention of "born again with irrevocable Everlasting Life" in this section (1 Corinthians15). Yet , Jesus clearly affirms that one "must be born again" to enter His Kingdom . 15:2 undeniably frames his defense of the resurrection as conditioned on "holding fast" . That is tantamount to perseverance . That's not a "doubtless Guarantee" a la : John 1:12-13,3:16,4:10-14,5:24,6:28-47,11:23-27,20:31 ; 1 John 5:1 . Which is equivalent to Acts 16:31 ; 1 Timothy 1:16 ; that results in Romans 3:20-5:11. Unlike the Unconditional Promise of Life found in every conceivable Evangelistic/Everlasting Life/Justification before God passage in Scripture . Once faith : Forever Life is the doubtless Guarantee employed in every such setting . 3. The only way to be born again is to believe the message that explicitly frames its object and content . The book of John contains that message . Its message has no expiration date attached . It was written well after the DBR . John 3:16 does not = 1 Corinthians 15 , or the laws of Logic may need revision . 4 . Progressive Revelation and the name of Jesus . You're affirming that based on "Progressive Revelation" , belief in things Jesus performed (DBR) are now the NECESSARY object of one's belief whereby one is regenerated (born again with Everlasting Life ?) . Because the name "Jesus" isn't found in the OT Scriptures. Yet , clearly Jesus/Yeshua the Person IS found in the OT . In scores of Christophanies/Theophanies : "your father Abraham saw my day ; he saw it and was glad" (John 8:56) . The Jesus revealed in the Book of John & 1 John is the Messiah/Christ whose name is His Person as the Christ (John 1:12-13,20:31 ; 1John 5:1) , the Guarantor of Everlasting Life to all who simply believe in Him for it , as Paul himself designates (1 Timothy 1:16) . To believe in Jesus in the Johanine sense , is to believe He is the Messiah/Christ that gives the endless Gift by one sip of the Water of Life (John 4:10-14) . Whereas , nowhere in the OT or the NT is there any passage assigning regeneration to one's belief in the "finished work" (DBR) .

@alvinfen4511 Great illustration bro . Zane had so many memorable illustrations that amplify the meaning , interns easily relatable . It's so clear that all attempts to "come in some other way" have something inherently contradictory involved , where everything ends in a Lot Jam . All "snarled up". Getting to the impossibility of that given contradiction is really what apologetics is about . Acts 17:11 remains the methodology that clarifies the contradiction , to anyone truly open to truth . [Thats Repentance] 42And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. 43And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. HE FEARED GOD. Anyone who refuses to acknowledge and change their mind (repent) about their sinfulled life will not be forgiven, just as the thief if he wouldn't have admitted his sins, he would not have believed or been forgiven. If he would've only said Remember me he would not have been saved. The other thief didn't admit he deserved to die he insulted Jesus, HE DID NOT FEAR GOD, he didn't admit his sins he said: If he is who he claims he is let him save himself and us. The thief, repented which is the consequence of faith and is with Jesus in paradise.
