I'll give a realistic example from experience: My sister went on a missionary trip to Africa where the villages spoke French, but none of those travelling with her (including her) spoke French. When she arrived in Africa, she could suddenly speak to the villagers in fluent French and she could do it so well that she became the translator for her entire missionary group for the 2 weeks that they spent in Africa. While in Africa, the missionary group had stayed at the house of an African woman and when it was time to return home my sister gave the woman her phone number so they could stay in touch. After my sister had come home she received a phone call about a week later, but she couldn't understand the person speaking on the other end. After hearing her name, it turned out that it was the African woman calling but she was speaking in French, and my sister could no longer understand what was being said. What's more is she had also lost the ability to speak back to the woman in French. To this day my sister doesn't speak French. God gives gifts to those he chooses for HIS glory and not for our own. We need to remember that when seeking his gifts.
Exactly...i never understand why people think speaking in tongues is gibberish and that everyone must speak in tongues. Loved that your sister was blessed in such a way to give God the glory
You can keep on sharing testimony upon testimony about speaking in tongues or other spiritual gifts, but to a cessationist you're crazy and delusional. 😂.
The first mention of speaking in youngest was in acts. They were all together, the disciples and many on lookers nearby. When the power of the Lord came upon them they were all simply able to speak in such a way that all the different people there could understand them. Which I feel is the most important part to note. Everyone could understand, not gibberish. Paul wrote about speaking in an angelic language, but there is supposed to be an interpreter. And even wrote it'd be best for an unbeliever to walk into church and they all be prophesying rather than speaking in tongues. Prophesying would draw them in, yelling a bunch of gibberish would drive them away
People take this verse from Paul and run with it and totally forget about what Paul also said “For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit”. Tongues is a heavenly language given to us by god to speak to him about what it is we need when we don’t have anything to pray for or about. Paul only said that its best not to be used in a church setting when there’s no translator because it doesn’t benefit the church as a whole. However if you are in the secret place with the lord praying one on one it’s should be used because that’s between you and god.
Paul was talking about actual language. None of you know My Father. There is no secret prayer language that YHWH ELOHIM ADONAI needs you to hide in a closet so that you can talk to him. I don't care how attached you are to your uncontrollable babbling that you think comes from God but it has nothing to do with him. Instead of Following Yeshua, you people are trapped in sensational spiritual feelings and yet are dead in your sin.
For every genuine gift from God, Satan has a counterfeit. God gave us our heavenly language, it’s no surprise that Satan will try to counterfeit it to throw off true believers.
What language do angels speak? What language was mene mene tekel upharsin? 1corin 14vs2 For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit. The one who created languages has no limit. Paul spoke in tongues frequently. What we do not understand we condemn. As believers, we should read our Bible.
I started praying in tongues in August 2023. I was in a parking lot, I had been desiring this gift for sometime. I made a simple prayer, yielded my tongue to the Holy Spirit, started to move my tongue to make sounds and immediately felt a welling up from my belly, to my tongue, and a strange language started to stream forth, it felt like it was coming from my innermost being! Since then, it has become like a 2nd language, I sing and pray in tongues any time I want to, and I praise God for this, and I believe this prayer language is for every child of God. Why would God, our Father, limit something that edifies someone's spirit and builds them up in their most holy faith, where the Holy Spirit prays through one's spirit according to God's perfect will, to only a few of His children??? There are various kinds of tongues: for personal edification (for every child of God), tongues for interpretation, tongues as a sign for unbelievers... May God open the hearts of all His children not to hinder His Holy Spirit in this matter of praying in the Holy Spirit. Believe, ask, and do it. May God bless us all.
If you aren’t actually speaking in a language that can be understood by someone else then you are bot speaking in tongue , you are making a mockery of Christ!
@Seabass1206 1 Cor 12:10 "...to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues...." 1 Cor 13:1 "If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels..." - There are diverse kinds of tongues. If I spoke in tongues of angels men would not comprehend, myself included, this is not an earthly language. - May the LORD open your eyes and open your heart to accept His Word as He presents it, not as some theologians are presenting it, who are denying the power of the Holy Spirit today. Amen.

Exactly! I mentioned dreams to someone once amd she rejected them because she told me if I never spoke in tongues then I don't have the holy spirit. I believed her for a bit but then I realized we all cant be a hand in the body of Christ.
I remember this teaching as a child. Over the time I have realized this is absolutely true. It cannot be from the Holy spirit will give the other the words for our understanding
It's a complete misunderstanding of the bible. Quite easy to disprove. Acts 2,10,19 all believers spoke in tounges and no interpretation given and it was from God.
@@Liminalplace1 yes but isn’t that the point that he’s trying to make? Kinda like now how so many so called faithful believers speak in tongues but are not of GOD? Isn’t tongues truly the gift to converse with those of another language? A gift of the homy spirit??
@@jaytee2716 that idea that tounges was for conversing across language barriers was a strange misunderstanding that early Pentecostals had, that they discovered was wrong when they attempted to go as missionaries to the countries they guessed their "tounges" sounded like 😂. The thing is there is ZERO examples in the bible of any conversing in tounges. What occurred in Acts 2 was only one way, not conversing, the hearers heard their own languages. What tounges was is easily seen if you just look at the descriptions begining in the order of writing . 1 Corinthians 12-14 first then Acts. It's a form of prayer. 1 Corinthians 14:14
I only met one person who I felt had the genuine gift of "tongues". He was a missionary to a Muslim country. He absolutely flunked language school, but they sent him anyway. For awhile he worked with a translator. After 6 months, they reassigned the translator, thinking he should know Arabic well enough...he didn't AT ALL! They gave him a new local to work with who knew 5 languages but no English. They went to visit a family and he could understand nothing. Tears came to his eyes as he realized how he was now as useless as a baby. He couldn't even explain why he was crying! He could do nothing but pray. His companion told a joke and he laughed. They asked him how he understood. It was a couple of minutes before he realized he was speaking perfect Arabic. Ever after, he could speak perfect Arabic from the country he worked in. He did add some vocabulary over time.
That sounds like somebody that took courses and gradually learned some Arabic. That's not tongues. You're forgetting to look at Acts where it also gives the purpose in Languages T pentacost.
@@user-fb5un2rd5i I'm not forgetting anything just because I didn't address the entire topic. It appears you didn't read my reply. The most common manifestation of tongues is for people to hear in their own language as in Acts, with no evidence that the disciples actually spoke these languages. However, the Holy Spirit isn't limited by our conception of how He should act. My friend SUDDENLY, in answer to prayer, had a complete change in his ability to speak and comprehend Arabic. Was he influenced by his exposure? Likely.
My cousin took me to a Pentecostal church once and the moment I walked in I was ready to run.. many of the people got up and walked to the front and started crying, jumping, "speaking in tongue", yelling, laughing. I was mortified. My cousin tried to pull me up to the front. I said heck to the naw!
Well the Bible does say that when the Holy Spirit came upon King Saul he began to dance shout and strip his clothes off and prophesy… the Bible says God told Ezekiel to lay on his side for over a year while cooking with excrement… God told the prophet Isaiah to preach naked… God told Hosea to marry a prostitute… God allowed the Holy Spirit to fall on the Gentiles in Acts 10 while speaking in tongues and prophesying… Ezekiel describes Gods glory in chapter 1 there being Fire, electricity ⚡️ and weight…. That’s why people shake and feel heat and fall under the glory. King David danced undignified before the Lord. So I don’t see anything weird with the different manifestations that God makes throughout all scripture.

he goes on to say that he shall pray in a tongue and pray in his understanding... praying and speaking in tongues are 2 different things. 1 cor 14:14 ...
In isaiah 55 it says his thoughts are not are thoughts nor are his ways our ways. When we pray in the spirit it allows the holy spirit to pray over and for the things we do not know or understand we need. Deep rooted repressed anger or abuse or forgiveness, things of that sort. Praying in the spirit opens up and amplifies the gifts of the spirit as well ( 1 cor 12: 1 - 11) Bit maybe I'm getting a little deep =p God bless and thank you for replying!
Exactly. I had a guy speak in tongues then interpret himself in a weird voice. I was singing in a Christian group and we recorded it. It freaked me out and I played it again I ran from them😂 there’s even preachers teaching people to speak in an unintangible language. God can understand our thoughts without speaking why would we need a language no one but God understood?
@DomskiOKKK but if God can understand our thoughts, why would we need a secret language? None of the prophets of Old Testament had to use that method. Even at Pentecost Noone nit even disciples used unknown intangible language, but there are people that used this type of speaking and intangible language, and it was the pagans.
@@DiggertheBoxer because God gave certain believers (like myself) the gift of tongues to be able to pray in tongues. No one knows why only certain people receive this gift. My understanding of speaking in tongues is an earthly foreign language. Paul explains this in his Gospel in 1 Corinthians 14 4-5. When the Holy Spirit descended on the Apostles in Acts, the scriptures quite clearly explain that they spoke in earthly foreign languages.
@@markwillhite9200I believe it's Isaiah 28, when people started speaking in tongues, specifically from gentile areas that were not well educated like Galilee, the Jews would have instantly remembered Isaiah 28 and knew that God had fulfilled His promises
Acts is NOT the only place in the Bible where you can learn about tongues though. Look in Corinthians and throughout the new testament! It is fun and you will like it!
Tongues is not yelling in baby talk. Tongues is speaking in a knowable language. When the disciples came out into the streets in Jerusalem, they were not saying "BABASHALALAHAHAHEHEHOHO!" They were speaking in languages that everyone else could understand. "And every man heard them in his own tongue." Acts 2:6
Read 1Cor.14:2-4 There is mainly two function of this gift. 1. Develop your spiritual life (v.4) by having intimate relationship with God. He understands this “baby-talk”, nobody else should understand it - says Paul, - when you’re talking to God in Spirit (v.2) 2. When there is a need of sharing a message - in the Church or foreign country. a) In the Church, if message comes trough tongues Paul says there is a need of explanation, otherwise nobody will understand it. If there is no explanation, let people not share publicly (v.28. “But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.”) So Paul says if there is no explanation it not means the speaking in tongues is wrong (v.17), but it is good to use in the personal relationship with God and develop your spirit. By the way: if to speak in tongues without explanation is wrong then poor brother or sister should run home from service to speak in tongues at home alone - because Paul says “speak to himself and to God”. But it is not like this! If somebody has no message in tongues and no explanation, let him (her) not over-push in the Church as if he (she) has a message. Let everybody speak in tongues in the Church to God in the normal volume, natural way. (V.39.) “Wherefore, my brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.” b) In foreign Countries: This happened in the day of Pentecost, and happens also in our days to. 😊
@norbertzink6556 If someone is speaking in tongues, and the message is only for God, then why does there need to be 1 or 2 interpreters? And why does no church that promotes speaking in tongues seem to have any interpreters?
First of all Bro: The Biblical answer to your question is - just because it is like this! 😊 Paul speaks about it, so it means it is a fact, that there are several functions of this gift, and it depends on the Holy Spirit how it works. And Paul says it can work either way - 1. Prayer; 2. Message. If it is (1) prayer no need for interpretation (GOD understands), if the (2) message comes we need to explain (or interpret) it. The main "function" of speaking tongues is the perfect Spirit communication with God, and within this "function" there is a development of your spiritual life - build the Temple of God who is you (1.Cor.3:17). “He that speaks in tongues edifies himself” (1.Cor.14:4) Word edifies in the Greek is “οἰκοδομέω οἰκοδομός” (build a house). In the Bible this word is used several times for build a house for GOD (Act.7:47, 49); Build the Church on the Rock of Jesus (Rom.15:20); We as a spiritual House of GOD (1.Pet.2:5), etc. The expression “edifies himself” means when we speak in tongues “to GOD”, we build a strong spiritual Temple of GOD, with Him, for Him! We can say like this: …to build himself as the House of God. I believe the main reason GOD gave this gift (despite of the first manifestation, which was on the day of Pentecost), is because He wanted to restore our perfect spiritual communication with Him and to be able to build us as a spiritual person as His Temple. That is why Paul starts with this “function” first when he teaches about this gift. (1.Cor.14:2 “For he that speaks in tongues speaks not unto men, but unto God:”). Then he continues: “But he that prophesies speaks unto men”. Since not only we are as Christians Temples of GOD but also His Church, that is why Paul says: “But he that prophesies edifies (οἰκοδομέω οἰκοδομός) the Church. So if someone gets a message in tongues explanation or interpretation is necessary, to build the Church. Of course, there are many abuses, and misuses of this gift, but I think in most of the NT truth there are things we misunderstand, and use in the wrong or not a proper way, but it does not mean that truth is wrong. It is the same with speaking in tongues. Even in the early Church, he had to correct things, but he ends with this: “…forbid not to speak with tongues” (v.39.) Now comes the practical answer to your question. I received this gift when I was 17, now I’m 50. This gift can work beautifully and naturally. For example: when we are in the Church all of us can pray either way as Paul says "I will pray with the spirit (in tongues), and I will pray with the understanding also", and while I speak in tongues with GOD (He understands - no need of explanation), suddenly the way I speak in tongues it changes - I mean the words, the style, etc. -, (I experienced many times), and I recognise, that it is a prophetic "speaking tongues" and I know there is a message from GOD through these words. When this happens, and I want to share it with the Church (or House Group, prayer group, whatever), explanation is important! If I do not receive it (explanation), I believe someone else will receive it. You know Bro - Paul says: "but all these worketh the one and the same Spirit, dividing to each one severally even as he will." See - It is up to the Holy Spirit! If He doesn't want to give a message in tongues, I continue to pray in tongues and I keep speaking with GOD in spirit, and let my spirit continue to pray to GOD! :) You Know, our minds are sometimes filled up with many things from the world or circumstances, worries, etc, trying to pull us out of the daily relationship with the Lord. Sometimes we have no words to pray because the things make our mind fruitless. How beautiful that the Father gave us such a gift, that we can pray endless ways even if our mind, seems confused, fruitless, or depressed. Through speaking tongues, the Holy Spirit can avoid our minds (through our agreement), and take us into a perfect spiritual relationship with GOD, and we can fulfil Jesus and the apostles said: "Pray without ceasing". In that way, our prayer does not depend on our little mind, but on the Spirit of GOD Himself! Of course, there are lot more to say about it, but I close it here. Speaking tongues is not a compulsion, it is a Love Gift of the Father to us His children! God bless you! 🙂
@norbertzink6556 I agree with you. If it is just for God, he doesn't need an interpreter. But the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 14:27 "If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret." So why does there need to be an interpreter if tongues is only meant for God?
I love praying in tongues because it is more powerful than praying in your normal language. But on the language matter; That is also where they have got it wrong because they do not read nor analyse the Bible properly. The Bible does not say that the disciples began to speak in the languages of those who heard them. It says that they spoke in "other tongues". Meaning that it was an unknown language that is not known to man. They spoke in unknown languages but the ones who heard them, all heard them speak in their own languages. That was a miracle! In other words, the miracle was not in the mouths of the speakers but rather in the ear of the listeners! They all spoke in other tongues (what unspiritual people would call "gibberish"), and yet the ones who heard it, through the Almighty Power of God, was able to clearly understand them because they heard their own languages. That is why I tell you that with God, nothing is impossible. Although they spoke in other tongues, the listeners each got the message in their own languages and completely understood them. Remember, they did not speak in normal human languages but in other tongues (so called "gibberish") and yet because nothing is impossible with God, each listener could clearly hear the message in his own language. The miracle was not in the mouth of the speaker but actually happened in the ear of the listener! Praise the Lord Jesus! He can do all things! Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. (Please note that it says "other tongues", not the tongues of their listeners!) How were the listeners able to hear their own languages even though the disciples spoke in other tongues? Because the Holy Ghost spoke through them and with God, all things are possible! Acts 2 : 4-12 [4] And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. [5] And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. [6] Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. [7] And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? [8] And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? [9] Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, [10] Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, [11] Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God. [12] And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this? I know a man who regularly prayes in tongues and he once went to visit a very wealthy man at his work place. When he arrived there, the wealthy man complained to him that one of his employees were stealing from him but he didn't know whom it was. So this man decided to pray and to ask God to reveal unto the rich man who the thief was. He then went to the toilet and prayed in tongues behind a closed door. He prayed in tongues as we all regularly pray (what some call "gibberish). When he stepped out of the toilet, there was an employee who was from a different country. He asked him "Are you able to speak such and such a language?". He answered "No". And the man said, "Then how are you able to reveal in my own language who the thief is? You have just revealed in my native language who the thief is and also where and how to locate and find him!". The man was later arrested and everything was revealed and exposed. That man was just praying in tongues as he always does at home and yet God used it to communicate with a total stranger! And the stranger got the message in his own language! So praying in tongues is very powerful and Christians must pray in tongues! I remember, years ago, when I was still a young boy, here in Cape Town, a man collapsed in front of a crowd and died of a heart attack. Someone felt his pulse and confirmed that he had died. They called for an ambulance but waited for more than an hour for it to arrive. Meanwhile A group of born again Christians were preaching the gospel nearby and were singing with a guitar. They saw the crowd and came to see what the commotion was about. When they saw the dead body, they layed hands on it and started to pray in tongues. After praying for several minutes, the man came back to life! The whole crowd, including Muslims and unbelievers all clapped hands and were amazed! So tongues is in God's will and it is powerful! It is not gibberish! It destroys the kingdom of darkness!
I feel like people that have not spoken in tongues, just rather say it’s not of God. It’s a very beautiful thing, the Holy Spirit strengthens your soul. It can happen in the privacy of your own home when it’s just you and God. And in between he has a message for me or my husband. But if we never let it flow and quench the spirit. We would never be able to hear why God has to say. I was demonized and got deliverance. In the process a demon spoke out of me demonic tongues. I knew it was not of the Holy Spirit, it was terrifying. I never imagine that could happen to me. They prayed for me at church until I was free of that torment. Glory be to God! He was, is, and forever will be. Get in the word, prayer and fasting. I bet the Holy Spirit will break through any erroneous man made idea you have about Him. ♥️ much love, God bless you

It's real and for every believer. If you're taught against it, you won't believe it; and when you don't believe it, you won't receive it and will miss out on The Holy Spirit's edification.

There's a difference between praying in tongues as your specific prayer language baptized by the Holy Spirit vs speaking in Tongues to the body of Christ with a interpreter present.
Real quick answer... So when pagans speak in tongues, would you not agree that that's definitely not of God? Particularly because you say pagan speaking tongues. So if Christians speak in tongues how could it be foolish babel as many of the comments have said. Often times it's important not to speak against things that you do not understand so that you do not be in error in judgment. And Paul also spoke about the gift of tongues such that a person can speak whenever and then there's someone who's there to interpret. However I do speak in tongues especially when I pray. And when I'm praying God and I are communicating with each other. There is a holy and spiritual connection that cannot be discerned other than when you have actually experienced it yourself. God bless.

Where in the Bible does it says the operation of speaking in tongues is used in ministry? It is the outward sign that someone is filled with Gods Holy Spirit. The gift of tongues used in the church is to be used decently and in order
Over the last 15 years, when I have spoken in tongues, it’s been Hebrew, Greek, French, Portuguese, Latin, and Spanish - none of which I have formally learned. I know I’ve spoken these languages because as the years have progressed, I’ve had exposure to these languages and have been able to confirm things that have come out of my mouth during prayer. Anytime I have received a tongue during prayer, I can tell it’s not gibberish because it always has syntax and rhythm just like every other language God has created. Any Christian who genuinely seeks the Lord in prayer will not speak under demonic influence. Thats preposterous. I love brother Justin, and am fully willing to throw out the exegesis I have learned on the matter. However, I believe his reasoning on this is completely off. Can pagans speak in tongues? *Yes!* Are they speaking gibberish? Sometimes, I believe they are. Other times, it’s possible, that they are being enabled by the deceiving spirits they’ve aligned themselves with, and the languages they speak, quite possibly, blaspheme the Lord Jesus Christ. No one can argue against the fact that Satan is a master counterfeiter, and is perfectly capable of creating reasonable facsimile. Those who belong to Jesus Christ cannot be indwelled by both the Holy Spirit *and* demonic influence simultaneously. I know some of you will ask for Bible references, it’s fine. Everything I’ve said absolutely corresponds with solid biblical exegesis. It’s true that none of my experience is proof. I agree with that. But it is evidence that points to the fact that tongues is indeed for the believer, for today. Yes, pagans do it too, but that certainly is no proof that Christians shouldn’t be doing it.
Exactly there has to be an interpreter for it to be real immediately after the person is speaking in tongues there is someone in the congregation who God reaches out to to deliver the congregation and if you have experienced this in person you know that the person who translates speaks with power

Anyone listening to this man need to read the entire book of acts from Beginning to end and take notes when someone spoke in tongues and how it was looked at and discussed. Once you understand the revelation of God pouring His spirit out on an individual, and once you yourself have been filled with the Holy Ghost then it all is revealed to you. But don’t dwell on tongues just worship with all your heart and let go of the things of the flesh and Jesus will fill you
I came from a Catholic background but sought out other traditions after reading my bible. I was led to an AG church where some spoke in tongues, with translations, during the service. I didnt believe it was from God. It sounded like gibberish. Men laid their hands on me during alter calls, but I wouldnt believe. I prayed that God would show me the truth. Sure enough, in His gentle way, during prayer in my room, God gave me the blessing and I began to speak with language I didnt understand. Imagine if every thought and emotion you were feeling during prayer was expressed without using your words. Much like laughing, or crying comes from the heart, without words. The language of the Angels. It was true, and I could no longer deny it. For me, its a private and quiet thing. I have never spoke aloud in tounges. Its not always, but only when the Spirit moves me during prayer. Now I know that there are some who counterfeit this gift, and churches who abuse and falsify it. Just like the faith itself, there are the wheat and the tares. As all born again believers know, the most important things after faith itself are love and obedience to the law of Christ. Without these, all other gifts and accolades are just a symbol clashing in Gods ears. God help us.

I’m a charismatic.. and I agree with this rule that Paul gives.. people seem to think it’s ok to use the self edification or private prayer tongues in an open church setting which is not right in my opinion. Because tongues with out interpretation is useless to the congregation. Which is why the gift of prophecy is the most important since prophecy can benefit the whole congregation
U r blasphemeing the Holy Spirit.. if u know the scriptures u know that more than 1 way tongues work 1 is what u said already , 2 is when ur praying in the spirit between u n the Lord even in church .... but yes other religions do this and they r mocking the Christian tongs.. and if its not the Holy Spirit speaking thru them THEN N ONLY THEN its a demon.....or its some1 pretending to speak in tongues for show so they look like there anointed... which is wrong too cuz there trying to glorify them selves
U r correct. It’s also a prayer language between u and God. Most people do not do it out loud in public. If they do then it should b interpreted. But just talking to God it’s a special language
This is great to learn from and hear back from every so often. If we aren't careful and listen to this kind of thing all the time, we become heretic hunters. It's all a balance of the Christian faith.
I have this gift and respect it as a gift from the Spirit as 1 Corinthians points out. Mark 16:17 These signs will accompany those who believe, they will cast out evil spirits in My name and speak in new tongues.
Now this makes the most sense to me!! And verse 13 of Acts 2, says.. but others in the crowd ridiculed them, saying, “ They’re just drunk, that’s all!” Sounds a bit like everyone who calls it gibberish! I don’t believe that everyone whom claims to speak in tongues is legit, but I believe it’s a real thing! I’ve even had to google a word I’ve said, it was a Spanish word Santo..
In the beginning it was the physical evidence of having received the Holy Spirit. There are many bible verses that support that. On the e other hand Paul was rebuking the Church because when a nonbeliever entered the congregation he/she would not be convinced because he/she would not understand the tongues, therefore he said I speak in tongues more than all of you but not in the temple.
I needed to hear that, my pastor insists we speak in tongue, I can’t do it, I don’t feel comfortable even trying, I was starting to think there was something wrong with my faith since everybody at my church can speak it, now I won’t feel so guilty about it. 🙏🏿
If anyone tells you it is essential to be baptized, speak in tongues, any act of our own to be Saved, they are incorrect. The thief on the cross is proof. He did not do anything other than repent and proclaim Jesus is Messiah. What did Jesus say in response? "Today, you will be with Me in Paradise."
That is why a lot of churhes are afraid to speak in tongues because most people quoting Paul always mess it up. Paul taught so much about these. He said if one is speaking in a "tongue" And he also speak about tongues same sentence. Lord help us...in a church where people dont speak in tongues 😢😢😢
Justin Peters is blashemying the Holy Spirit when he teaches the gifts of the Holy Spirit ceased in the first century. He is denying the promise of the Father for today, which is the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues! Acts 1-2
Speaking in tongues is taken out of context, it means in acts when everyone was in the desert and there were many different languages being spoken, that when the prophets were prophesizing that everyone heard the prophets in their own language this was a miracle of the Holy Spirit
Justin makes very good points about the ungodliness displayed in their episodes.. yet I also do believe in Gods gifts but in a humble and sincere manner.. also: Revelation 19:10 says about prophecy that it will always point to Jesus (the Word) 10 Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said, “No! Don’t! For I am a servant of God just as you are, and as your brother Christians are, who testify of their faith in Jesus. Worship God. The purpose of all prophecy and of all I have shown you is to tell about Jesus.”[a]
Thank you so much for making this very important point. I spent alot of my early years as a Christian questioning why I didn't speak in tongues, wondering was I actually filled with the Holy Spirit, was I truly saved? It wasn't until I'd read through the bible cover to cover that I had the confidence to refute this dogma. It has saved me from joining churches that are not following the bible.
Here I thought Justin Peters had finally received the Prayer Language of 1 Corinthians 14:2. The teaching about the Gift of Tongues is clearly mostly correct according to the later verses in 1 Corinthians 14, there are some Charismatic, Pentecostal, and Looney Pentecostals abusing the Gifts of the Spirit, including Tongues, that is why we need the Gift of Discerning of spirits. This presentation actually shows a more open attitude by Justin Peters than the usual Cessationists!
Such a shame that individuals such as Peter' has 'allowed' himself to be deceived/enticed by the dark practice of Calvinism ie 'once saved always saved' Which 'is' a false doctrine that can clearly be demonstrated thru Scripture, 'for those with eyes to see and ears to hear'
Time is almost up. Please give your life to Jesus Christ before it's too late. He is coming soon and tomorrow is promised to no man. Ask forgiveness for your sins and repent/turn away from sin, having a change of heart and mind. Seek the Lord with your whole heart and ask Him to fill you with the Holy Spirit and be baptized in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He loves you more than you can even imagine. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and give your heart to Him. Invite Him into your heart . Read His word daily. It is the sword of the Holy Spirit and the word cleanses and heals. And ask the Lord Jesus to lead you and guide you through the rest of your journey. Much love and many blessings!🙏🙏🙏💕👑👑👑👑👑
My ex-wife is possessed by a demonic entity. She babbles in tongues and destroyed my heart. Praise God He used her to bring me to my knees and to repentance.
I believe that the Holy Spirit can fill anyone and give them the gift of tongue. We should be careful to judge or criticize though because it can be a blasphemy to the Holy Spirit. ”Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.“ Matthew 12:31-32 ESV
Telling a person not to judge is not only unbiblical but it's also self-defeating since you're making a judgment about someone judging others. There's a difference between righteous judgements and unrighteous judgements. Jesus tells us to make righteous judgments (John 7:24). The Bible tells us to reprove, rebuke & exhort (2 Timothy 4:2). The Bible tells us to exhort and rebuke with all authority (Titus 2:15). The Bible says the spiritual person judges all things (1 Cor 2:15). The Bible tells us to expose evil (Ephesians 5:11). There's a whole book in the Bible called "Judges". As for the biblical passages regarding “Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit”, It’s a unique sin for a unique time. Jesus was doing miracles to prove He was the promised Messiah. The Pharisees accused Jesus of doing miracles by the power of Satan. They rejected His claims to be the Son of God and Messiah. That is a unique, one time in history event that is not repeatable today. It is the sin of rejection - which people can do today - reject Jesus. But blasphemy of the HS was the contextual sin that is unforgivable. With Jesus right before your eyes doing miracles like raising the dead, delivering demon possessed people, giving instantaneous sight to the blind etc. That is not repeatable today because Christ is in heaven and is not trying to prove His credentials as the Messiah to Israel. People who reject the gospel and die in unbelief - that is the unforgivable sin today.
@@ChristiansMatter i think you misunderstood it. Blasphemy is still repeatable today even without Jesus here physically. ”And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.“ Matthew 12:32 ESV He is in heaven but he left us the Holy Spirit. Yes, we need discernment to judge. And that’s the reason why I said be careful to judge. People didnt believe Jesus because they didnt expect Him to come that way. Our ideal and expectations are different from God’s. Anyway, I still believe speaking in tongue is still happening if the Holy Spirit fill you and give it to you. That was the main reason I commented. Sending blessings to you!
Indeed there are many publicized accounts of what appears to be pagan or almost mocking the gift of tongues. Often people use 1 Corinthians 14 to try and say that the gift of tongues should not be exercised anymore , but I ask to those who claim this, do you have women openly speaking in your church? If so, than this same chapter says not to do this. I also think that it is important to read the ending of this chapter where we see in verse 39 “Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.” Did you not know that there are different tongues and tongues that serve different purposes? Paul clearly explains this in 1 Corthinians 14 and is also shown is Acts chapter 2 its importance. Tongues however cannot replace teaching of the unsaved, or prophesying which Paul clearly gives warning about in 1 Corinthians 14. God bless you all.
Stop pushing away the baptism of the Holy Spirit evidenced by speaking in tongues. These gifts help to edify the body of Christ and you as an individual member in particular. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is for every believer. Never will forget when I was going through a very dark and lonely time in my life and the presence of the Holy Spirit came upon me and prophesied: "I say, I say, I say unto you; I am the Lord and I love you!" It changed my world! and brought me through the trial. ... And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, he said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. Acts 19:1-6 KJV
@I’LL TALK ABOUT IT...! Speaking in tongues is the sign that you have received it. Jesus would not have instructed his Apostles and believers to wait in the upper room to receive the Baptism in the Holy Spirit for no reason. It is an enduement of power and gifts to edify the body of Christ.
@I’LL TALK ABOUT IT...! It's not a requirement for salvation. It's a gift for the edification of the body of Christ. Read 1 Corinthians chapter 13. There are times I have prayed in tongues and could tell it was in Italian or French or I would say a friend, co-worker, or relative's name while praying. You may not know who or what to pray for, but the Holy Spirit does. Then there was a manifestation of a word of knowledge given to my mother regarding an attempted molestation of my sister by our pastor (she worked in his office over the summer as a teen). My mother said the Holy Spirit let her know what happened and when my sister came in the door she said "mama" and my mother responded "you don't have to tell me. I already know."
@PearlsRubies Yes, you receive the Spirit, but the baptism of The Holy Spirit is to receive His Power and His Gifts. One thing I have noticed about people who don't believe in the Power of the Holy Spirit is they will not move forward in the things Jesus said for us to do...lay hands on the sick to pray for their healing or cast out demons because they do not believe in the Power of The Holy Spirit.
Discerning of Spirits is a gift. Don't all Christians seek Discernment of Spirits in prayer? How you going to test the Spirit of you have no Discernment? We pray ask seek the Lord in everything. Discernment is for all saints. Be built in the gifts. Each will come when the times are needed
I was told that tongues is prayer that originates from your heart instead of your mind. And in that way you edify yourself. I myself don’t speak it btw, but I also don’t dwell on it, with god anything is possible, if he allows some people to have this gift knowing many will make a mockery or falsified it then it is his will. Plus, satan always tries to corrupt gods gifts, whether it’s a human gift or a spiritual gift, that’s why you have Love and Lust, or people who have amazing voices and use it for evil.
Justin has built his ministry on exposing anything charismatic. Yes there are those who have misused and abused the ministry and God is and will deal with them. We have so much focus on false prophets and teachers, which is scriptural and ongoing, but let's not forget it wasn't false prophets and teachers that kept Israel out of their inheritance when Canaan was theirs to possess...it was unbelief. Yes discern the false prophet or teacher, but unbelief is the most prevalent error that still plagues the church. To suggest that the same spiritual gifts ended with the apostles is not only unscriptural but eliminates much of what Jesus taught. Please quote the scriptures whereby Jesus made this unquestionable without misquoting the verse "and tongues shall cease" or misquoting the verse " when that which is perfect is come" which when read in context is speaking of the church made perfect in love, read the whole love chapter.
We have the complete revelation from God. In 1 Cor 13, he says when the complete comes (the Bible- word of God), the incomplete will pass away such as …and he lists things and tongues is in this list.
This is obviously a form of praise and worship. If I begin blessing God and thanking Him for all that He has done for me in my known language, other believers would say that I am praising and worshipping the Lord. It is no different when we speak in tongues. In addition to this, the apostle Paul also said that he would sing to the Lord by singing in tongues when he was in private. “For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding
Using songs to worship, collecting offerings, meeting as a group, listening to a “sermon” are also not unique to Christianity. That doesn’t mean they’re wrong for Christians to do. Also, there are plenty of places that talk about the benefits of praying and singing with the Spirit. I think Cessationists need to read 1 Cor 12 and 14 more. Of course, we Pentecostals should read 1 Cor 13, the love chapter, more!
Speaking in tongues isn't Speaking a load of rubbish. It's speaking in different languages so that word of God could be preached in all countries in the world. Too many religious institutions have misinterpreted the meaning.
Dr. Brown, who once believed in this but now denies this doctrine, invites all these guys, specifically John Mcauthur (whom I have respect for ), but they deny him, and Doctor Brown is not of little reputation I would love to see the debate
