Join me for the start of my K20 DC2 Integra racecar build, in this episode I introduce myself, introduce the car, and talk through the build plans and my goals. It's a solid 20 minutes of me talking, sorry! We'll get into some actual work next time...

Awesome, so much info. I've been looking for information like this for a long while. I'm about to build one of my Integras into a track car so this helps. Im actually a kiwi, also an engineer (civil) and live in Australia too. You probably have a buyer for your engine, but if you don't, I am interested. I think stage one for me is to do the basics to the car (Brakes, wheels/tyres, suspension and seat) then get some seat time under my belt while I plan upgrading to a K swap. I would like to swap out the B18b for a B18c for ease and because the B18b is on its way out. Anyways, good vid and I look forward to seeing more of the build.

Hey, nice build! I just came across this video, and it looks like you're on the wa to a fun Track Car build! One thing that I've noticed is the Exhaust Header(Manifold) ...it's not well designed(for power), it's put together to be able to fit the DC2 for a K swap essentially. knowing the firing order(1,3,4,2) ...the extraction will be messed up, and your power/torque curve numbers will be compromised. If you can, look into this. I've had to correct this on a few cars in my local camp with positive results. All the best ...I''m off to watch the following videos!

Thanks! Yes unfortunately there's not a lot of affordable K-swap headers out there. I do plan to design and build a proper manifold later, but I will live with the compromise for now

@Shane Rodger - TechnoLogic Motorsport Engineering Outstanding build man! I'm working on a 97 Integra K20 swap but for a nice street car build so yours is next level! I'm very curious how your shifter turns out, I love the Acuity but not wanting to cut the chassis.. :/

I've got the shifter installed, to me it's minimal mods to the chassis. You need to drill two bolt holes in the tunnel to mount the shifter adaptor plate, and then cut a hole in the firewall for the shifter cables to pass through. Bit more difficult with a street car that still has all the heater and AC though!

Why the change from the Civic to the Integra?

Good question, mainly because the Integra presented itself as a cheap option to start with a really clean shell, the Civic was a little rough around the edges. The Integra owes me nothing now that I’ve sold the engine, and I was able to get a really good price for the Civic selling as a whole as opposed to selling the driveline and K swapping that. And also I think Integras look cooler when they’ve gone full racecar :)

The Hatch for sure, but there’s not much in it, maybe 50kg. I’m hoping the Integra will be around 1000kg without driver

Why is it that people fallow the Honda factory spring rates for their shocks? It is fine for street driving or for less experienced drivers but putting stiffer springs in the rear makes a Honda Integra handle like a dream with no understeer. Don't take my word for it look at what other racers are doing. On my street Integra I have even spring rates, all 8k, and on my more trackable Integra I run 10s up front and 12s in the rear.

Hi Craig, I suggest you look up the Honed Developments full roll centre correction kit (front and rear), this is why we run lower rates in the rear compared to the traditional Honda track setups. The roll centre correction fixes the roll centres after the car is lowered, so it significantly increases rear roll stiffness. That means we don't need to run super high rear spring rates to get the car to rotate, and it means that with more "normal" spring rates in the rear, the suspension is actually working as intended rather than being so oversprung and upset by bumps in order to promote rotation. This is a very successful setup in many Honda racecars around the world, Eric Kutil would be one of the most well-known.
