There’s no way a build that clean costs 4-5k today. The swap alone would be $2-3k, kpro $1k, HR shifter/cables $700, EKK2 $600, radiator $400. Nope that’s an $8-12k build.
@@austin2994 I live in Northern California and there are tons of K20 and K24 at the yard and on marketplaces. I was just on Facebook and there’s a a K24 long block for 500 and only had 70K miles when pulled
Great content as always. Starting my EK kswap soon once I get the garage situation figured out. Big concern to me doing the swap, was the vibration I was going to see. On my buddys kswap, we did a test using a stock RSX rear tranny mount and fill the voids in the mount with 45a poly. Almost no vibration and no wheel hop at all. Just a tip if looking to cut down on vibration!
It’s easy I just got into Hondas like 2 years and I got a ek hatch automatic for like $300 with a blown engine I found a guy on offer up parting out a 08 civic si and he sold me the engine and transmission for $2000 with extra things I got kpro it was like $1500 $700 for ecu and another $800 to send to Hondata I got a rywire harness $800 and I skimped out on the motor mounts and intake I got those on ebay both for like $150 and I skimped out on the exhaust I got a “18 cherry bomb 3” exhaust from trubendz and a Ktuned turn down muffler I found on offer up for $120 I think it everything cost me $5000 and I’ve been daily driving my civic for 2 months on a base map I did all my research on RU-vid and Google putting the engine and transmission in a civic is easy you don’t have to drop the subframe look at my shorts ima try to upload more
A “budget” K Swap does not mean “cheap” swap people. A budget is a budget. If you have a budget of $5k, then the max you spend is $5k. Cheap and expensive is subjective. To you, $5k might be cheap or it might be expensive. To me, it’s neither because $5k is within my budget.
We’re you guys able to get it BAR’d? Considering giving my son my B18C5 out of my BAR’d EK and doing the K Swap only if it can be BAR’d. Everyone avoids this question 😏
@@TheNDex Not too hard. I did mine way back in 2005. Did a complete swap from a USDM Integra at JerryBuilts house up in Compton which made things simpler. I imagine a JDM motor may get more scrutiny.
My $h!t clears with the powersteering rack .. how ?? I made it fit !! Lmao I used uni struts for the radiator support everything budget swapped accord shifter and still yanking this thing around
Hey Tommy would I be able to DM you on my build? I’m running an accord motor js for a little more power than the sorry D series. Js want a clean swap with no additional mods
How’d you get your speedometer to work I also have a k swapped ek sedan with z3 transmission and k tuned speed converter but can’t get my Speedo to work ?
oh man congrats on the ride. i'm having so much trouble trying to bring back to life my z6 that i'm seriously wondering about doin a K swap. I just didn't wanna lose AC and PS, and none of the mechanics I know knows how to make everything work just fine. beyond that, doing the sawp, will the check engine light ever go away? or do we need to live with it for the rest of our lives? take care of this jewel man and vtec the sh* out of it haha
oh man, here in brazil it's quite hard to find spare parts for our old hondas. I was struggling a lot to find a decent head, for example. fortunately got one recently! we'll begin assembling the car tomorrow! wish me luck haha
@@Diogogodiow yesssir. Love to hear it gang. Also myself getting up in a couple mins to go to junkyard. Need a knuckle for my ek. Haven’t even driven my swap yet. Just started it to make sure it’s ready to send. I would say check the gaps, could probably use a valve tune up
