Despite Samurai Haoh being a clusterfuck it kinda fits with the theme of the show as it looks like those Samurai Armor/Weapons displays you see in museums.

Personally I liked the Shinken Gold, I thought he's a perfect balance between the shows serious tone and the shows comedic tone and it's not like they overused him like other unfunny sentai tropes. Also there is one scene I absolutely love and that is the seen between him and Takeru, A really big highlight for me. As for the villains. I didn't mind them, yeah they were kinda weak but I felt the heroes made up for the villains shortcomings. As for the mecha I'm kinda a mixed. In one hand they are a little underwhelming but in the other hand I don't really care for mecha fights so I wasn't really thrilled nor particularly bothered by them. All and All good review. Btw I finally started watching Flashman because thank god the fan subbers got done with subbing the episodes. It has since became my drug these past two days.

I guess that the Gold Shinkenger was too shining for the series.

(24:26) I love it when they do that type of humor of silently letting the scene play out. The reveal of the formation, the sound of Takeru's origami flying by, Daisuke Gori's delivery. Adding to the fact that, again, here's no quirky music, no "wah wah waaah" or "boing" sounds, just conveying the joke silently. Teach kids to laugh at timing, not because Genta is mugging at the camera.

The fact that it is not fleshed out is probably what make Kagemusha plot work. It need to be sudden or the disconnect feeling won't work as there's feeling that audience is the one connected to her. Building it up will make it fleshed out but it make audience also attached to her while it supposed to not only make the retainers uncomfortable but also the audience since we also know that it's not the usual Shinkenger

A funny thing to note: besides Takeru and Kaoru, there were other two ShinkenReds that were shown the first ShinkenRed and Kaoru's father. I bring this up because both used to be blue rangers in previous series, with the first ShinkenRed being OhBlue and Kaoru's father being MegaBlue. And the funny thing comes when you realize that OhBlue and MegaBlue's Power Rangers counterparts, Rocky and T.J., were red rangers. I'm not going anywhere with this and I'm pretty sure this was just a coincidence and I'm just reading far into it, but it's a funny thing to note.

Can I get your opinion on something? I just finished writing my second power rangers book, and I ended it with something that felt like it should be part of the finale instead of the second book to start an arc for two characters. It ended with the red ranger, who was a kid to represent a kid's dreams of becoming a hero, being kidnapped to by the main villain to be experimented on to become a mutant( Not like Time Force, I mean humans who were turned into mutant animals armed with weapons) who are the main monsters of the series. should I keep this ending or change it and save that ending for either a later book or the final books of the first arc(I'm planning on making two arcs)

Just finished Shinkenger. Loved it but I agreed with many of your points. The shadow arc could've been longer, the villians could have been more developed etc, but overall I still love it and will revisit i gladly in the future

I really enjoyed Shinkenger plus it's heavy Japanese flavor made it fascinating to watch. Plus, if you love sword play, this is perfect. Ad before you ask, I can't tell you my favorite because I pretty much enjoyed them all.

I feel they could have done more with the whole monsters drying up thing as they never seemed to try and use that it was only used as plot device to avoid having the monsters finish them when they had them beat only to beat the monsters later with no explanation sure when they got new weapons and powers and mecha and rangers sure but I feel there was more there

Imagine if we had a team that was a combination of Yellow and Green? None of them were going to be the team, an older sibling or parent was being trained to stop the threat, but something causes them to be the team instead and because they weren’t trained they would have to be outside the box thinkers instead of traditional fighters.

Shinkenger is one of my favourite sentai shows from the 2000s as I love the cast and Takeru is one of my favourite Red who is a badass and doesn't behave a complete idiot like many of the modern Red Rangers. I also agree that Kaoru should appear earlier so as to compare her leadership with Takeru and how the others have got used to Takeru's orders that it is difficult for the others to follow a new leader. Although I am a bit disappointed that only Kaoru return in future sentai team up and no news of Takeru whereabouts. But then it is also due to the actor being very popular in movies and shows after Shinkenger that it is very costly for him to appear again in reunion episodes.

hmm i have seen the movie in bluray and the fences looks 100% real to me with its texture and lighting. I can imagine it would look oddly different if they had actually CGIed it. I did not understand how u could say that it was CGI?

That halfway point becomes Power Rangers Super Samurai. It might've been a reference to Power Rangers Ninja Storm, where the sixth ranger was called the Green Samurai Ranger, who also had a Super Samurai mode.

Good review as always, i see it as above average but not a great entry. The cgi overload and mecha designs are bad/ok while the cast and fight scenes are really good. Best of luck in the next sentai review.

there is one thing about the crossover with decade that was awesome, a monster steals Kamen Rider Diends henshin device, and becomes a rider monster, not like Hurricanger vs Gaoranger where the monsters perfectly fit in the ranger suits, this one was like a Demon Diend, first time its ever happened and possibly only time so far

Shinkenger. The first Super Sentai series that introduced me to, and I enjoyed it after Power Rangers RPM ended (when I believed that it would be the final installment of the Power Rangers series, until Power Rangers Samurai a few years later).

If there was a power rangers samurai and shinkenger team up movie Richard brown would've trained bulk and spkie like Emily in a strange case of the munchies which is something I wish kotaha did in this show

While watching power rangers samurai, I always wondered why they are doing a samurai season when that is a Japanese thing. Not knowing that the Sentai season was a samurai theme

Bad news. the director for the current season had COVID-13. They did make enough episodes to last did mid May. Hopefully he'll be better by then.

It wuold be cool seen another samurai motif but this time having it mixed wirh an seacreature motif with the story being that an evil army wants to conquer an underwater kingdom and they need to destroy a city similar to tokio in order to get into the submerged kingdom but the leaders of the kingdom give the ability of surviving avobe water and can give them simplistic yet powerfull scaled armors (aka the ranger suits) and having parts of the palace where they live transformed into powerfull machines in order to prevent the invasion of the villains (and the sixt ranger is an ninja)

Just finished it a few days ago, I had fun with it. I do think I liked the backstory for Dyuue and Dekker more in Power Rangers Samurai. I didn't hate Genta, he was a breath of fresh air to me. As for the monsters I saw, is that all of monsters has features of sea creatures. Akumarru I found to be a cool villain. Another thing I liked better in Samurai, the Lamp zord didn't talk. I give them credit to the fight on horse back, keeping those horses calm.

Who is better: ¿akumaru or sherrator is pr counterpart?

I’ve heard some people say how amazing Shinkenger is. One guy claimed it left him speechless. The theme song definitely kickass though.

This is just an idea I had, but after Kaoru is introduced I would have had the red on Takeru's suit change to black, thus revealing he was actually a Black Ranger this whole time. I also kind of wish Takeru and Kaoru were just brother and sister like their Power Rangers counterparts. I just think that works better, even though I think Shinkenger is still better then Samurai overall.

So this past week while on vacation I watched this show (finished it last night actually). I apologize for the length of this but I have a lot I wanna say about this show: Considering all the praise of this show, it only made sense for this to be the last Sentai season of 2022 for me to tackle. I was hoping I was going to have a similar experience to Boukenger and Gekiranger, however that wasn’t the case. That wasn’t due to me not liking the show. Rather, I have a feeling it’s most likely due to having previously watched both seasons of Power Rangers Samurai. As such I pretty much knew what to expect storywise. However, what really made this show extremely well done to me is several things. For one, unlike the prior show mentioned, this show has actual characters and not cardboard cutouts. They are a extremely likeable group from the start. My favorite ofc has to be my boy Takeru, who just like his previous Red Senshi is a complete and total badass. I love his relationship with Juzzuou. Reminds me a lot of Ryou and Jin in Dairanger and Jan and Leo in Gekiranger. Especially there battles, with Act 26 being a standout. On that note, considering it’s a show about Samurai’s all of the fight scenes are very well done. Something else I can’t forget is the music. The opening, done by the legendary Psychic Lover is a true headbanger. Now normally, I’m not one for the ending themes. As I’ve never understood there true purpose, as to me it makes no sense that u would need something to take you out of a show. As such there are very little ending themes I’ve enjoyed (Megaranger and Boukenger so far). However, idk what it is but Shinkenger’s is in there for me. Though I don’t understand why they decided to have them behind a green screen for the ending op. The battle music is also a highlight as well. I will say that this really does feel like the spiritual sequel to Dairanger, given the same narrator, Rintaro Nishi as the main villain and even the same color lineup, excluding the sixth rangers. Another thing this show does well is it’s ability to perfectly balance serious, emotional and comedic scenes. Even giving them there are theme music which is a nice touch that I appreciate. Storywise, the only thing I give Power Rangers Samurai points for is combining the stories of Dayuu and Juuszou (Decker). Kinda wish that had been original to Shinkenger, as it added another layer to Samurai. In Shinkenger it felt kinda empty. If I had to say any negatives, there is one thing. However, because this show is so Japanese culturally influenced, I’d say it’s more of a misunderstanding on my part rather then a negative. If anybody can explain this it would mean a lot. Now Power Rangers Samurai worked around this issue by having Lauren Shiba being Jayden’s older sister. However, in Shinkenger how is Kaori is only like 16 yet she adopted Takeru who’s at least like 25. Like how does that work? Cuz adopted in the western world doesn’t work like that at least from what Ik. Especially when you consider all the flashback scenes in the show of Takeru is a child. Sure before the reveal it makes sense but how do you justify it after the fact? Similar to Boukenger and Gekiranger I can’t wait for Shout! Factory to release this (hopefully on Blu-Ray) Otherwise this show is fantastic and was a great way to end Sentai of the 2000s. I never noticed how Daiyuu is the voice of Edward Elric, she changes the voice too much. But I did notice how Shitari is the same voice actor as One Piece Brook's.

This was a good review and I think your grade was fair. Overall, this was a good series and if I had to name a Sentai for anybody that never watched one before to check out for the first time, it'd be Shinkenger. It did great highlighting Japanese Culture and it had some good moments and memorable characters. SPOILERS below on my opinion: By far the Reds were the best part of this show. Takeru was a great red. He had to practice and practice to acquire the Fire Mojikara. But for me, Kaoru was by far the most interesting character of the entire series. Her time was far too short but from what I've seen, she was everything I'd want in a leader and a samurai princess. I'm personally glad the fights with Kaoru worked out. She's the true head of the Shiba Clan. I thought they did her justice. She was highly skilled, a good leader, approachable, adapts to bad situations, and if she takes a fall, she'll get back up. She saw that the retainers built a bond with Takeru so she gave them space and didn't overstep her boundaries or was judgemental. I'd borderline kill for some sort of sequel if we have Kaoru as leader of her own team (especially watching her duel Joe from Gokaiger). Shinkengold was also great and the fights between Juru and Takeru were some of the best combat scenes out there. The rest of it was alright. I wasn't a fan of Green. I found him to be a douche honestly.

Shinkenger is probably the best season in terms of Red focus. Takeru gets a lot of focus, but unlike seasons like Maskman, Ninninger or Kyuranger, not everything revolves around him. He's not the best at everything, he doesn't get all the power ups and most importantly he doesn't overshadow everyone else. All the Rangers have their own focus episodes, their own stories, their own character development. It's a perfect balance between Red focus story and character development for all the other Rangers. Still wondering why Yasuko Kobayashi is my favorite Tokusatsu writer?

there is a question i always had: why the police and the army never appears to fight back the monsters rampages? i mean, it could add a bit more of seriousness to the show....at least it could works to show why they can't beat them, something that ryukendo did right...

At least they tried to tie and theme the mecha into Japanese Mythology that the series uses.
