Kamp Kenan and the Urban Rescue Ranch have finally combined for a collab! Kenan visits Ben's wildlife rehabilitation and rescue farm and tours all of the different reptiles, birds and interesting mammals he has on the farm. Plus we take a close look at Kevin, his famous Rhea, and Dababy his Kangaroo. This place is built with love as evidenced by the beautiful enclosures, cages and aquascape ponds. Ben definitely works his tail off and has a real passion for animals. If we weren't there in person we would never appreciate how insane it truly is!

So sorry for the video quality. The camera was on the wrong setting when we shot it. We tried to add a stabilizer to fix it but as you can see it's quite funky. Problem has been solved so it won't be in any future episodes!

I was surprised, because this is an actual animal rescue. Most of the other sanctuaries say they are, but it's a for breeding / pets. This guy is literally taking in squirrels and raccoons, ducks. You don't see others doing this. This is a real legit animal rescue.

Ben Christie is a great example of someone who is passionate about his life’s work, and he does it for the love of animals. Not the money, not the clout, not for the prestige (as if!!), but because he loves animals. And he didn’t study agriculture. that "oil" slick is broken patterned which means it's 100% natural and a sign of a healthy biome. I forget what it's called but there's a ton of it here in the PNW.

I work at a wildlife sanctuary here in Illinois and one thing we do for hit by car turtles is a beeswax salve over the wound and or we use Legos or bra clasps to seal up cracks in shells. Those three things we have about an 80% rehab and release rate. If you happen to see this comment it may be some information that you could pass on to "Uncle Ben" to help with his turtle rehabbing.

The film on the top of the water is called biofilm Its oil and tinons released from decaying matter such as leaves wood bark dead animals dead algae. the best way to get rid of it is to add a skimmer onto your filtration system and use something like an FX5 or FX6 or larger type filter with a skimmer attached to it That will keep the surface clear suck up the excess proteins and oils that collect on the surface of the water because that actually is detrimental for the health of any fish that you want to add in there because it cuts off the oxygen supply the gas exchange from the water to the surface and vice versa it allows ACO 2 to build up and the oxygen not to dissolve into the water so you want to be careful about stuff like that building up A little bit is fine the whole tank cover with it is not good you also want to add plants maybe some snails to help with algae maybe some tilapia that'll help keep the algae down too.
