She is examining a lived physical and continued psychological pathology in our history-- the brutal atrocities of slavery. Walker's commentary in that realm is what makes her work brilliant. The psychotic response to slavery is in many ways what her work is about.

Now I see the genius in Lupe Fiasco’s “silhouette challenge” and why it’s named Kara Walker. Her use of silhouettes paints the picture of what the challenge is doing to Black women. Well how easy it is to do it to themselves. Kudos to Lupe for the correlation

I like to be reminded of the crimes of slavers and slavery. Their descendents are still here, still rich. My eyes-opener was was quite recent and had to do with finally discovering and reading the two-volume "'The Secret relationship Between Blacks and Jews,'" (1991, published by NOI). This is the complete documented (footnoted and scholarly) history and rise of the trans-Atlantic (black African) slave trade, from its beginnings. One volume deals with Brazil and the Caribbean, the other with North America. engrossing reading. find it.

That book is an Anti-Semitic canard that has been widely discredited by historians. It massively misinterprets the historical record, largely through a process of cunningly selective quotations of often reputable sources.

Yes, it is terrible when women have such 'exaggerated' imaginings of violence against them. Some of actually believe that somewhere someone is actually acting out their over active imaginings.
