The jury sent a note to the judge saying they can't come to a unanimous decision. WBZ-TV's Cheryl Fiandaca offers her insight into the case and what this situation entails.
This is absolutely ridiculous. There's a mountain of reasonable doubt. It is scary they don't seem to understand she does not have to be proven innocent (if this is even why they're deadlocked). Either way, what a disgrace.
Funny cop shows up dead at atf agents house and atf agent has fractured wrist, both victim and defendant phones scrubbed, yet police arrested girlfriend.
This is disgusting. If they can do this to a person like Karen Read, a profesional, highly educated lady and citizen, with the means to hire a totally capable defense team, imagine what they would do to less fortunate citizens. This is absurd and criminal.
What does a professional and highly educated lady and citizen have to do with it. Anyone can take part in an accidental, or deliberate act towards their significant other under the influence, coupled with anger. It happens more than we would like it to. And, it will happen again and again.
@@doloressosa4351 Just because she is educated and her family has deep pockets is a ridiculous reason to find her not guilty. John O'Keefe deserves justice. He is DEAD because of her actions. Ted Bundy was highly educated also.
Have you ever had a teacher/manager/boss that just doesn’t like you and you can feel how much they don’t like you in all your interactions? That’s how I feel about the judge/karen dynamic
Don’t blame the judge it’s not her fault she doing her job. She’s not saying that she’s guilty and She’s not saying that she’s is guilty. She does not make that call. That is the juries responsibility. She wants them to come to a conclusion Whether it be guilty or not guilty. I don’t blame her because of all the time they spent on this case it was 32 days of countless Exhibits, People coming in and testifying, Lawyers getting paid a lot of money, Jury sitting for 32 days, and the Judge Who has other court cases that she has to attend to Besides this one. On the other hand, do you understand that if they remain deadlocked, they will have to go back through this whole entire process with a new jury which means more time more money and more Wasting peoples time to come back to make the same testimonies. So I don’t blame her, she’s right they need to come to a conclusion whether it be guilty or not guilty
I figured this might happen after day 2 and no verdict. So shocking that others saw something else during the trial then I did. I saw NO evidence against her.
Also agree. I don’t think the CW met their burden at all- not even in the ball park. If the state retries KR, she’ll have to essentially pay for another trial. Crazy.
@@TBrl8you mean the person who has been caught lying about multiple things said she said that she hit him then blatantly lied about her search history.
No one noes if just one person is saying gulity and the rest is saying not gulity so stop already unless your in the same room with him u can't no how many are saying gulity and how many are saying not gulity.
how can they not be unanimous not guilty yet? Two reconstruction experts, hugely credentialed independent of the defense or the prosecution, say that "it is impossible that JO was hit by Karen's car" if her car didn't hit JO then none of the rest of it is possible. The end, period, end of discussion.
My guess is that the Jury foreman in charge has been chosen by the Judge and is bias and adamant that Karen Reed is guilty and the rest of the Jury are not going budge on their decision. We will probably find out the odd duck is a police officer.
McAlberts (two families) have killed at least twice now. Don't think the locals knowing the corruption and support from the legal system won't do it again?
They planted every other piece of evidence and you think they did not plant a juror? If juror a cop or close relative they should not be there period...
@@cristipratt2844Zero zilch nada. You are living in the twilight zone if you think these people are intimidating. It is just mind boggling what you will fall for. You do realize this is their goal and you have fallen prey to them.
I wouldn’t say everyone is stupid as much information as they had to go over without having an incredible amount of conversation with others as well as the internet to rely upon. I think before I watched the trial I thought she was probably responsible for his death and although I don’t think they were all in on it that most likely a couple of dirty cops were behind it and everyone else just chose to stand behind their own.
@@user-tq1dv2yr6pshe? Karen? Responsible in what way? The plow operator would have seen his body and the lack of injury to show he was hit by a car say a not guilty verdict should have been reached in a few minutes, if not a few hours…..
There's no way a reasonable juror can listen to experts state categorically J.O was almost certainly not hit by a vehicle and not agree there's reasonable doubt as to the prosecution's claims
@@sarahmurphy8030 He has animal bites on his right arm. He has injuries to his face, the back of his head consistent with a fight and possible fall onto concrete. Also his phone recorded 60 steps after K.R dropped him off at the Alberts. The evidence is overwhelming. It's unbelievable the trial was even brought let alone there's a reasonable juror who thinks she's been proved guilty
I have not followed this case but how does a police officer die in mysterious circumstances while hanging around his police officer friends and that same police department leads the investigation? And then the jury must decide while living under the jurisdiction of this same police department? Perhaps they fear blowback from police who then investigate themselves
Karen found John immediately, under a foot of snow, raging blizzard, zero visibility right where she hit him. What a coincidence Yannetti pleaded it was an accident. Then Jackson was called and made up the conspiracy
If the cops can get away this easy folks, we are in big trouble as “free” citizens. This is about as corrupt as you get. Can’t believe this wait, can’t wait to hear what’s going on.
Jury left early two days in a row and only deliberated 3 hrs today. They need to work more but I do not think they will reach a verdict even with time.
@@lindafinch1520He's an x cop? I didn't know that. There seems to be something fishy going. After the FBI experts testified, there is no way they can say she hit him and caused him to die. Was Mr Albert in the courtroom to intimidate someone?
That’s what I just said. If you aren’t letting me go home, I’m sticking to a NOT GUILTY verdict. The judge knows these people on the prosecution’s side. She should have recused herself.
No the judge has said that the jury can’t possibly have had time to review all the evidence in the time given at this point and should continue deliberating. And I agree with her. I also believe there’s no way this can possibly be a guilty verdict.
This lady is absolutely not guilty! And if anyone thinks she is. I can only hope that they Never ever get picked for a trial. A person has be convicted beyond a reasonable doubt. There is tons of reasonable doubt in this case!
Allegedly there is an ex cop on the jury. I wouldn’t be shocked if things were divided more on those lines. I’ve seen plenty of men saying they think she’s innocent
I would guess its 80% of them that think she is innocent. It only takes 1 person to hold up all the others, and it only takes one McAlbert pocket jury member to hold them up.
Exhausted jury is done ! To force any exhausted jurors to stay until decision is forcing a jury to say anything they possibly can just to get home and sleep !
If the Jury said, "they exhausted all efforts & CAN'T come to an agreement". That's an automatic mis-trial. This Judge making them go back & deliberate is a blatantly disregard to the Jurors decision!!!
The jury deliberated 2 hours on Tuesday, Went home early on Wednesday, Went home early on Thursday, And on Friday, only 3 hours before they told the judge they are deadlocked! Karen Read’s life is in their hands, but they don’t seem to care. Alan Jackson presented all the evidence, forensic told them that Boston police Officer John O'Keefe injuries weren’t from her SUV. One of the final witnesses was a retired forensic pathologist who testified Monday that some of O'Keefe's injuries were inconsistent with being struck by the Lexus SUV. Clear as water, and this jurors can’t see it.
It MUST BE RETRIED under the DUE PROCESS, which is allowed for EVERYONE under the CONSTITUTION. For the JUDGE to just send them back without declaring a MISTRIAL IS ILLEGAL AS HELL.
@@ayasreviewsandtoycolection7148 why do you feel the need to use caps. You’re either an emotional liberal or a narcissist assuming his/her audience are stupid.
A mistrial from deadlock is not a dismissal with prejudice, the Prosecution can retry the case given if it does not violate Read's due process right (speedy trial right) unless Read waived her right. It's the same as the trial never happened, which mean the Prosecution have 6 months to retry Read. If they had not refiled the case in 6 months, then the speedy trial right of Read will be violated, and she cannot be retired again.
It’s there with the witnesses in the very beginning. They all heard her say she hit something, she said she hit him. That’s it. Only people that want to believe otherwise won’t see it.
She also can't allow them to declare being deadlocked after such a short time in deliberations. Deadlocked means there is disagreement within the jurors, somewhere. So, while YOU might think they "can't find something that's not there", some members of the jury ARE finding something. The judge sending the jury back is so that they can further deliberate and try to work the issues out. Judges routinely do that. No one knows the split in a jury. It could be one holdout for guilty. It could be one holdout for not guilty. If a mistrial is declared, it means that this will have to be tried all over again, with a new jury. She won't be set free.....she will have to sit in prison until the process is repeated. I've seen people be retried, 3 and 4 times. So, cool your jets....it's best for everyone that the jury continues deliberations.
This crooked JUDGE needs to allow the jury to make their decision not to make the jury go back in ! This is crazy its like the Judge is saying she is Guilty
Evidently you have not been watching the trial from the beginning or you would know that the judge is biased and would say she's guilty along with the prosecution
Never ever have i seen a judge try so hard to have someone convicted. She has lied and claimed karen was smearking hoping to change the mind of people watching she has spoke so rude and uneducated. She should be dis bared
Karen WAS smirking throughout the trial, which struck me as an odd demeanor, as well. And I'm sure the jury took notice of that, too. A person's behaviors, appearance, mannerisms are all carefully watched by a jury, and can leave a lasting impression with them. The judge is there to keep the court in order, make sure the law is followed, and to assist in any issues that come up between lawyers. She must ethically remain unbiased, but that doesn't mean she won't scold lawyers or anyone else if she feels they are behaving unprofessionally. She isn't there to be the social welcoming staff. She is there to rule over the case.
They can’t have access to that report. AND they don’t have the transcripts. 8 weeks of long days and they’re expected to go off of their notes? Of which the judge had specified instructions on. All with the extra long instructions and the change of that verdict slip, it is in fact too much to handle sitting in a closed room with 11 strangers all day with the clock ticking knowing that the world is waiting. This controversial case shouldn’t have been accepted in the first place. This is jury abuse!
They haven’t spent enough time , it was a long trial and mountains of evidence. They’ve had shortened days , I agree with the ruling . Jury wants out especially bc we have a holiday next week . They need to continue working !

Well, I don’t blame the judge that’s a lot of time that’s a lot of money. I mean that was a very long case that was 32 days and now this is the fourth day that they’re waiting for a verdict. Not to mention the family that lost this man and the friends that lost his man. If They decide not to make a judgment and stay deadlocked and they will have to have Another case Another trial Meaning, More money and more time I don’t blame her for wanting to get Justice for their family so they can have closure. They need to come to a conclusion based What Think is fair and right.
Don't know if she's guilty or not, but I also don't think that the state proved their case beyond a reasonable doubt. It's more important for the citizens, that if the prosecution fails to thoroughly do their job, that a jury should find a defendant not guilty than it is to find that person guilty "just in case." In fact, it's vital to maintain our democracy. The state has to live up to their responsibilities - every single time...
It's a hellva burden for everyday people to reach a consensus on such a complicated case. Shame on you people poopooing the process and impugning false motives.
