This is the most relaxed and laid-back I have ever seen Karl. He is so personable here, maybe because Ricky isn't there winding him up, slagging him off and because he is not being "quizzed", he is just being asked about himself. I can see what Suzanne sees in him, he's a very sweet guy.
It's really bad when you have to pretend to like your bully boss. Especially that pretentious not at all funny, short arsed, slimey little weasel, Gervais. Poor bastaad.
Karl is intelligent, he's quick witted and realistic including practical. He must have been a good worker and the fact he was in a high managerial job must prove that. He just happens to live on another planet and looks like he's had a lobotomy, people just treat him like an idiot when he's not.
Ricky knows his worth, he knows Karl is effortlessly funny. So he puts him down at every opportunity. I prefer Karl chatting with David Icke, he sums up Ricky's type in a heartbeat! Karl's great. Ricky uses Karl's jokes in his stand up as though they were his own, Karl is way too nice for his own good.
He IS kinda an idiot. He took that IQ test...and this was the one time I thought whoever was in charge of the show was genuinely mean...they listed his score. 83. We all know that's pretty damn close to the mentally handicapped! Now he's clearly not that dumb, but he struggles to understand the most basic things. THAT'S why he's funny.
@@angelkotilainen Ricky made Karl and they're best friends, but what I'm getting from this...is you think Ricky is an "intellectual snob?" Because he laughs at Karl's RIDICULOUSLY stupid ideas? Like a watch that counts down your life backwards? Or the machine that transfers how you feel into the Doctor because he can't describe what type of ache he's got? LOL...c'mon... Oh, how about Ricky calling bullshit on Karl's INSANELY stupid stories about a Chimp performing Surgery...one that he's DEAD serious about! And the idea that Ricky NEEDS to steal material from Karl is...absurd. He made him a millionaire by doing nothing by telling Steven Hawking to "pack it in Steve," because we've learned enough. But I'd like some examples? I know he's quoted Karl and used the REAL person Karl in his standup. Never seen him steal a joke though...so any examples? After all, "a problem solved is a problem created."
has anyone else noticed that when karl is talking about radio broadcasting/production, he comes across quite professional? seems less dim than usual anyway
100% agree he is a total professional when it comes to that, always love hearing him talking about his past. Not always funny but ALWAYS interesting/entertaining.
i hear he got his first taste as a kid in hospital radio just wandered in to the hospital radio station when his dad or someone was in bad. i think if people like something they become good at it. whether they have the necessary qualifications or not
he's obviously not an idiot. he's naturally a funny, odd guy and, I think, he amplifies that on the Ricky Gervais Show.....he knows it's funny, so keep doing it.....love karl. THE man!
Ricky Gervais is brilliant, but he's also compassionate & not egotistical at all. Him at the award show tipped the balance back. I never wanted to watch those shows, what do I care that a very rich successful person gets an award and then gives a patronising speech about how we should think. Ricky was bringing reality back into the room, bringing them back down to earth. He's not cruel, just real. Love him
That's the man from Soccer AM and no matter what he does he will always be remembered for it, he was made for presenting Soccer AM not some cookery programme
6:56 Almost anyone else that is in any way part of media, when talking about meeting Mr. Adams, would be an absolute sickening sycophant when asked about it. Karl delivers an honest response that resonates. It wasn't in any way negative. Just the simple truth. Both beautiful and refreshing.
OMG THE BIT WHERE YOU SEE HIM WITH THE HOOVER BEHIND CARL AND THEN HE SUDDENLY SUCKS HIS CHEEK WITH IT AND KARLS JUST LIKE WTF, OMG FUCKING HILARIOUS!!!
I used to be like ricky, intellectually confident and full of energy so i'd wrestle friends and stuff. Then I moved to uni and my parents moved countries so i lost my home and saw my friends less and less. Was living in a converted prison with people i didn't get on with and spent a lot of time alone reflecting on how i treated people. Now i try be nicer to everyone but people seem to like me less and less because of it. I wish i hadnt reflected so much and could still be myself
he is very smart actually. a lot of the things he says im like...wow...and sometimes im like..you know that's quite good. he's also a natural at comedic timing and his story telling is genius. the show couldnt of been half as funny and brilliant without Karl. i think Gervais is sometimes very harsh on him or very quick to shut down anything he has to say. but i love em all ! they are such a funny team. brilliant !
