Absolutely true, crystal clear. I have been in love from afar with Karla for almost 40 years, ever since I met her at a little coffee house open mic in LA in the late 80s. Ever since I get speechless every time I hear her sing (then I start singing harmony, under my breath :)
I first discovered her in Solana Beach...I pulled her album out of a trash can in 1982, took it back to my beach house, put it on my turntable, and knew....damn! that was it!
Hang in there. Sometimes, when you are not looking, you find, or it finds you. If you do find love, trust and hang on for dear life for the road is rocky and the path full of stumbling blocks.

Karla is just as awesome as she was 35 years before this performance. I have seen her twice live and have loved her timeless music and angelic voice for a long time. She recorded this song with James Taylor as the accompanying vocalist. Pure beauty.
I've heard a lot of arrangements of this song, but this one is far and away my favorite, especially the album cut with John David Souther and James Taylor doing the harmonies.

Here it is, God knows how many years after Karla released this, and her's still one of the most beautiful single performances of the song. I'm floored every time I hear her sing it.
listening to this and thinking of friends and family gone on has always affected me...She played this for a small group of College Radio people in Atlanta in '76. Mac Mcanally was there also. He jammed for us in the elevator for about an hour. Seeing him and her in a small group when we were all so young was magical. Mac was 19 and the rest of us were in our 20s....Karla was 25.
She's not underrated. Everybody here seems to like her. I do. She had the unfortunate circumstance of being a female singer song writer at the same time as carly simon, joni mitchell and carole king. She appears highly rated by people who have heard her sing.
I've known Karla since I was 17 (40 years). The water is clearly "wide" and it takes much effort to cross the waters to join with someone else. There are storms even if we are in the boat together and we all have to remain focussed on the "lighthouse" or "the North Star" to remain on course.
I saw this video released all the concert stages in Japan in 2006 in Japan. More than ten years have passed since then. I honor her and still acting still, I wish for his future success. Karla and I are the same age, so her poetry is immersed in my heart.Thank you for "pjcisum" for releasing this!
There is a place some of us chance to visit though few remain to live there. Sometimes after many a long year the memory is new again in dream or echoes in a song.
We only learned, after hearing this beautiful rendition, that Kenny Edwards passed away some years ago. We think the harmonies are so beautiful. Does anyone know where we might get the sheet music that contains this duet? Thanks Kenny, RIP.
