I'm a metalhead.... Slayer Pantera Jinjer etc. Got dragged to a Kasey Chambers gig way back in 2002, ewww country music I said...I got completely smacked down by her show hey! I have never banged my head so hard at a non-metal concert in my life! This chick is a force, and her shows are top shelf.
Just when you thought you know a song, then somebody shows you something different...... Kasey is a highly respected country artist here in Australia, along with her family. But not only are you seeing a different side to an all time classic song, we are also seeing a different side to Kasey Chambers. I love the way she builds the suspense and drama, then unleashes her emotions. There can be no doubt that she embodied the full meaning of the song. The stage at the Civic Theatre is no stranger to drama. It is a stunning heritage listed building just north of Sydney, so perfect for such a performance. Huge shout out to all of the musicians on stage, including her father on the slide guitar. Everyone knew what to bring that night, and WOW they delivered.
You could have titled this "How do you keep an entire theatre audience so quiet that you could hear a pin drop for at least the 1st 4 1/2 minutes of a song?"
I actually think she gave the great Eminem a run for his money. That has got to be one of the most unique intense covers lve ever heard. Pared down her beautiful voice resonates with such feeling and it actually highlights what a wonderful lyricist that Eminem is.
What did we just watch? This! This lady is *incredible* ! I like this song, but her performance is fanfreakintastic. Where has she been? I saw Kacey perform this 2 nights ago and became obsessed being an M fan. I came to your channel looking for reactions to this song and the first thing I loved was you didn’t pause the song to give your thoughts like every other channel does, you let yourself get lost in the emotion of the song. Being able to change you’re preconceived thoughts shows true humility. You’ve now the first reactor I’ve subbed to!!!! Stay humble

I think the original version feels like someone overcoming something. This version feels like a prequel. Like a desperation to overcome something. Both are awesome. They seem like two different perspectives in the best way
Kasey is an ARIA Hall of fame PERFORMER with more than 30 major awards (best song, best album...) hopefully this will bring her wider global recognition. She is mostly regarded as a Country singer but does delve into other categories. Her song writing is amazing an she always gives her all on stage. Love this!!! 🇦🇺🥰😍
She always leaves everything on stage - she's absolute gem. Anything she does live has a conviction and passion like it'll be the last time she'll every sing it and her songwriting is top shelf. So glad you gave it a chance.
It was exactly the same for me the first time I heard this. I was thinking; wth is Kasey doing??!! 😅 …but she pulled it off so damn well! It’s amazing & emotional, blew me away in the best possible way.
Every time I watch your reactions, I have more and more respect for you. As an Australian, I’m so relieved to know that you would tell us if you feel like a song we might recommend doesn’t quite hack it. We’re used to this stuff so it’s easy not to be objective but when a gentleman of your calibre and expertise says a song is worthwhile (or not) because of the way you carry yourself with such honesty and integrity, I for one, trust your judgement. During our Covid lockdown she had plenty of time to learn the Lyrics and write the melody. She went on to say that she'd never felt more connected with an audience than she did when she performed this song live. This concert wasnt filmed, so Kasey put a shout out for her fans to send any video footage they had of this performance. Thats why the video isnt great quality. But hey, I think it does the job 👍🏻 Kasey is predominately country, but wven people who dislike country music (like me) love her songs. She has a stunning voice. Got to agree, I started to listen to this the other day and about 2min in got distracted by something and turned it off. Just listened with you and wow!
I feel the slow part is to slow to long. But that climax. It’s the best 2minutes of rock I’ve heard in a long time and it’s a rap song by a country artist.

Not the best recording quality I have heard better quality audio than this. Its a pity because it such a brilliant performance and her tones are kinda of not what I am used to hearing. She doesn;t use tricks when she performs. She sings from the heart.
For people who don't like her that is probably accurate🤔🤣for those who do like her it is a heartfelt emotional sound to listen to. I hope you find the music that resonates with your soul.
