Is the BEST BEGINNER MOTORCYCLE still the Ninja 400? I'm not so sure...
The price of the Kawasaki Ninja 400 has steadily been increasing over the past few years and we haven't seen any updates to it besides the new paint scheme. So today we talk about if it's still worth buying NEW and is it still the best beginner motorcycle on the market? Because there are others out there who are offering a whole lot.. and for less.

Just bought a new 2023 ninja 400 krt abs for 6400 usd out the door. So far i love it and wouldn't change a thing.

I love my 2019 Ninja 400 KRT. Same livery as yours. Here in Sydney, I got mine for a lucky $4.8kaud that's done only 4kkm with Two Brothers Hurricane exhaust, Oggy sliders, tinted shields and 8 months rego. Clean as condition! It's the best! I don't even have my Ls yet so I just ride it around the property for now lol 2 weeks to go till my RKT. Just discovered your channel, good stuff! Nice to hear an Aussie accent motorcycle RU-vidr!

I'm actually happy with the analog dash (but that's just because I personally prefer analog rpm meter over digital). But I agree they should improve on the exhaust. I would also appreciate complete LED lighting all-around, same as honda is doing with their CBR500R. But most importantly, I think they should LOWER the price, instead of rising it substantially each year, without improving or changing anything. I would even prefer a lower price over updating the model or adding new features. Because for a lot of beginner Riders, which are often younger persons, it would lower the hurdles to get into riding motorcycles. You mentioned that one can buy one used for cheap, but in my area, the used ones now cost almost as much as the new ones (price maybe 1k below new, with 5-10k miles?) and there aren't even many Ninja 400s for sale on the market. At the moment, you could just add like 700$ to the price of the ninja 400 and get a brand new honda hornet 750 for that.
@KellerFkinRyan
@KellerFkinRyan Год назад
I think that if anyone really cares about the exhaust, they either wouldnt get a ninja 400 or they would swap out the exhaust regardless of what came on the bike. some bikes come with full titanium akr systems and they still get swapped for Yoshimura or arrows

Analog/ led dash is a thing of beauty on this bike, Forks are clearly fine and brakes while not the strongest are really good for riders with little experience not hitting the brakes to hard. The Ninja 400 is pretty much perfect for its position in the market.

Look at how long they went without updating Ninja 250! They probably won’t update it until Yamaha and Honda make their own 400s. You’re absolutely right that there’s no reason to buy a new Ninja 400 unless you have to have that color.

A new brighter digital dash like on the 650 and higher cost Ninjas is probably expected. This design looks great IMO. If they could add the features you mentioned while keeping the price just about the same, that would be something. I'm thinking back to my 2003 Ninja 250R (the 1988 model design all those years), and then my 2008 Ninja 250R redesign that lasted till the Ninja 300, when the competition finally showed up from other brands. My 2021 Ninja 650 has the brighter TFT display viewable in any sunlight angle, and is a really nice feature.

The number one thing I would love to see is the suspension updated to USD forks at least. Like the Hondas showa suspension. Plus full LED lighting. Not super concerned about the dash but an update would be nice.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it.", Kawasaki taking notes from Suzuki maybe?... Anyway, I also bought a Ninja 400 last year since after doing some research(which includes watching your videos), I decided that the Ninja 400 was the best beginner bike... on paper. Other lower CC beginner bikes, have better dash and dash functions, adjustable suspension(and inverted ones), full LED lights and even better lookin swing arms but that 399cc engine power was something I can't ignore. Hence, I got the Ninja. I do agree that the Ninja 400 looks a bit lacking now, specially when more and more low CC bikes are coming out. The ninja 400 now looks like a bare bones bike compared to other beginner bikes. But, I still love it and hopefully Kawa will give it some love too. (Honestly surprised there were no bird strikes or bird sounds in the outtakes, they're almost always there 😂)

@@Kwackajack It has it's shortcomings but I am loving it. It has good enough performance for it's price(though like I said, feels kinda bare bones). It's cheap enough though that you would have extra cash for a lot of mods. I'd recommend the R6 throttle mod Kwack, you should try it. Less wrist strain and the bike will feel more responsive. Almost left like a new beast when I installed the mod.

Lol it’s the other way around, you know how long the ninja 250 was produced for? 😂 I love Suzuki but I could never compare any of the big 4 lol they are all different in a way (besides the inline 4’s lol) Suzuki and Honda are more conservative and Kawasaki and Yamaha are the Bat shit crazy bikes lol that’s how I see it

I still think this is the best thing to get especially second hand. I've seen them go for 4000 euros in my country and it's a decent price considering most often then not you're also getting a slip on plus the original exhaust and since it's so recent they also don't have that much mileage. And what does the brand new ktm have over them? More electronic gizmos? Those are cool and good to know how to use them but I think it's better to learn on a raw bike that just has abs. The adjustability om the suspension on the other hand would have been nice to see. Well they'll definitely need to update it one eay or the other to keep up with ktm. But seeing how yamaha's been sitting on the r3 literally since they released it with only giving it like new fairings and upside down forks, I'm not surprised kawasaki isn't quickly responding to the new competition.

I considered the RC390 or another Ninja 400 (long story). My main concern being a shorter rider is stock seat height of course. The RC is a wicked sexy bike, but it’s tall. 32.7” / 830 mm whereas the Ninja 400 stock seat height is only 30.9” / 785 mm. What kept me with another Ninja 400 was the top speed at 104 mph / 163 kph. I’ve had my Ninja 400 pinned at max speed several times (119 mph / 191.5 kph). Not huge, but since I’m restricted to the size bike I can ride I’ll take the Ninja

My husband just sold his RC390. I took it for a ride, and compared to my Ninja 400, I have to say that I personally didn't like it. It was 💯 stock. I didn't like the sound or the handling, personally. What are your thoughts on the new ZX400? If I'd had known about it last year I would've waited to purchase a new bike. I've been riding for 13yrs & my first bike for 10yrs was a ZX7R. I realized I didn't need or use the power that bike offers so I "downgraded". I love my 400. It's so fun!!

It’s still just a beginner bike and a great one at that. Adding bells and whistles will just increase the cost. In the end 99% Will upgrade and sell it pretty quickly. With the exception of a dedicated low CC track bike it just is what it is.

Love the videos mate, That’s what put me off getting a ninja, it just seems outdated and expensive, looking at getting a CFMoto 450sr, for a guy getting his first bike at 41 it has more modern features and cheaper plus extra year warranty more than the ninja, quality probably won’t be as good nor the resale value
@MrEiniweini
@MrEiniweini Год назад
If you don't mind a little advice on getting the CFmoto, maybe don't. I am not dissing the bike but as a starter bike it needs to hold resale and you will get better from Honda or Kawasaki. It is not just the price on resale, it is the time. Also, at 41, the SV650 or Versys650 are more versatile. You will find that a sport bike setup is hard going over 35 years of age, you are holding weight on your wrists and shoulders in the lean forward position. Your hands will tingle after 30 minutes into a ride. Why do you think us old boys look to Triumphs and Hondas? I would seriously look at the Meteor 650 as an older beginner if you are looking towards cruiser/touring or the Honda CB500X if you are looking at ADV bikes. If sport bikes are your thing then I would probably start with the Ninja 400

While I love my Ninja400 I have had for the past 3 years, it could do with a facelift for sure. Seeing other manufacturers give their Ninja400 equivalents an update with modern features and better equipment, does make you wonder why they haven't opted to update the Ninja400 BUT, they have released the ZX25r and ZX4rr to the market with better equipment and maybe the lack of update to the N400 is deliberate on their part to drive sales to the new bikes. Seeing how upgrades to the shocks (front or rear) is pretty expensive for the N400, I'm honestly considering just holding onto my money and purchasing the new ZX4rr bike instead.

@@alexisaguado8467 Well I mean yes I agree its a sportbike and could possibly be better than yamaha r3 and ninja 400 when it comes to features and power for price point, but the thing is the fuel consumption from mix riding (fast or slow) are around 15-16 kpl or possibly even 19 KPL, while comparing it to Yamaha R6 as we all know it has inline 4, it only consumes around 15-17 kpl. So im my conclusion its still unbelievably thirsty bike for two cylinder (all comes from the review of Jao Moto). Anyway im not here to let u force to hate or decline the bike cuz i'll be honest I really loved it too specially it seems worthy for a price point but the problem is, if using it on daily, it would be a headache for some specially on how expensive gas price nowadays.
