@@turk38922 there's a CRAP ton of screws stripped to all hell. Idk who my brother paid to do it before but they effed it up lol. Removed parts and cleaned as you described. Bike fired up and ran beautifully. In addition changed all fluids, oil/filter, coolant, brake fluid front and back. Thank you for this video! I got a 2010 Ninja 250 that sat up for a year outside. I had to clean the carburetor....clean the air filter...... change the spark plugs.... remove the petcock and drain all the gas.....replaced it with non ethanol fuel. It ran like a gem after all that.....before that it keep cutting off everytime I hit the throttle. It only ran on full choke but was limited to going 40 mph.

Just bought a 2009 Ninja 250.....I had no idea this was such a popular bike! Even though this bike has absolutely "ZERO" balls on the low end top end does not disappoint! Not to mention handling and flickability are amazing! Ive seen 100's of videos on this bike but Mr. DIY is by far the most user friendly for us old timers that like to fix and maintain our own bikes, cars, etc.... I would have NEVER thought to pull the factory plugs and pull and clean those pins. Although I have been working on engines of all sizes for DECADES having a place to go and take the guess work out of unfamiliar territory is fantastic! Thanks for your time and experience! GODSPEED!

Thanks man! I left bad gas in my ninja and it would only run 40 mph at full choke. I followed this video, and now it works great. I had some difficulty to put the black tops on the carb at 20:15 the rubber kept pinching. The trick is to wiggle the top in a circular motion in order to tuck in the rubber diaphragm. The idle jets were hard to remove. I had to file down a screwdriver (like you did). I did not take apart the fuel pump or the air/gas mixture screws.

great video. just a point with regard to fitting the manifold boot clips at 25.45. I found it difficult to get the screw to engage in the small fixed bolt on the other side so before fitting the rubber boots on, I closed up the securing bands and slipped them over the boots. I was very happy that the boots went on so easily (silicone spray on them) and so much easier than the ones on a HONDA CX 650E.

Very good video but two things I feel you missed one as you pointed out about halfway through but you addressed at the end is how the carburetor float needles love to leak the true proper way to test them is spend the money get yourself a mighty vac vacuum pump tool where after you reinstall your floats before you put the bowl cover on you can flip the carburetor upside down put a pound or two a vacuum on it and then let them sit and do a leak down test to make sure they truly close and you won't have a small amount of gas leaking through And other connected to the same area is getting a carburetor float height tool which measures how much gas actually sits in the carburetor bowl before the floats close off If your floats are too high you let too much gas in bike runs like crap if your floats are too low won't get enough gas runs like crap because it's running lean float height tool need to be made or buy a cheap one on eBay for 10 bucks but either way need to keep the float height set at 17 mm plus or minus 2 mm to get these carbs to run right.

I always read the markings on jets, because I want to know if somebody before me has done something stupid to "improve" on the engineering of the bike ! As he said, do not overlook removing the idle/air jets.. that is the tightest clearance most likely to clog place in any carburetor !
