Most Korean baseball stadiums have a wide gap of seats and many various table seats, event seats, and premium seats, so the number of seats is small compared to the size of the stadium And Daejeon Baseball Stadium is scheduled to open a new baseball stadium in 2025. (Currently under construction) Incheon and Seoul are scheduled to build a dome stadium by 2028 or 2029. Busan new Baseball Stadium will also be built by 2028 or 2029. (Of course, it depends on the situation..)
The reason Skydome has the capacity smaller than it looks is because of the re-design. The planned capacity was actually 20000. When the city council was in discussion with Heroes for tenancy agreement, the team requested to have more premium seats in the lower deck behind the home plate and dugouts. As the premium seats take up more space than regular seats, so the eventual capacity became less than 17K.
@@m.j.n.808 I'm jealous man. Living in States, I wanna go ham and do songs and dances like we do at KBO but don't have the courage yet. Which stadium did you get to go so far?
@marchveris jamsil definitely needs a renovation, I'm not saying demolished because there's so much history in that stadium but definitely renovations
Gocheok Sky Dome was originally planned as an amateur baseball stadium. However, the plan was later changed to a pro - baseball stadium and became a dome stadium. Therefore, there is a limit to the number of seats because it was built on the site of an amateur baseball stadium. So now, planning a new dome baseball stadium in Incheon and Seoul.
I am a Korean who loves Korean baseball. Thank you for introducing Korean baseball stadiums. After With COVID-19, come to Korea to watch baseball next time! Korean baseball has many cultures that are not in the major leagues. Cheering songs, various foods, and so on. I'm sure it'll be fun if you come and experience it yourself! 😍✌️ 🇰🇷🇰🇷
ESPN carried KBO games in the early months of the pandemic when MLB was shut down. It was great being able to wake up early, watch a game, and then be ready for my first meeting of the day. My favorite part of the “culture” from KBO games was the cute Korean women in skimpy outfits 😊
Can't believe you didn't comment about the city view at Kia Champions Field. And no pirate ships. Surely there has to be a pirate ship at a baseball stadium, or maybe they shipped them all to Lake Ashi in Japan.
I knew a guy that used to be a teacher at my High School who played in the KBO and was called the Dustin Pedroia of the KBO meaning he must have been talented at bat and the field. He got about 22 to 24 home runs a couple season and batted nearly .300 every season. Doug Clark for reference
@@gangchanhyeog His sister used to be in my class from middle school to high school. He was a senior when I was in 9th grade. He seemed to been well liked in the KBO. Another kid in my class was supposed to have more success than him as he was drafted out of High School to the NY Mets. My Brother was supposed to be the next kid to excel but his development in the sport slowed down despite going to a scouting camp and being excepted into a good college for Division 1 baseball.

Covered seating isn't that big a deal in South Korea. Aside from the fall typhoon season and snow from December to February, rain is consistently mild. Unlike SK, though, Japan's Pacific League teams have spring training in balmy Okinawa (26N) which is warm year round.
Daejeon Hanwha Eagles will also start at a new stadium in the 2025 season. Currently under construction..!! Daejeon Baseball Dream Park! ^^ Similar to Changwon NC Park, !! (New Jamsil in Seoul and New Sajik Stadium in Busan are also being built. It is scheduled to open for the 2027 and 2028 seasons.)
Is the new stadium actually under construction now?? I have seen the new like a month or two ago, that KBO issued a warning to the DAEJEON city council for no progress in new stadium. The league also threaten the city council that if no confirmation regards to the new stadium soon, the league could suggest the Eagles to relocate.
Korean baseball fields are unique and fun~!! Korean baseball fields have table seats and barbecue seats. There is also a campground and a lawn. and cheerleaders Baseball fields in the United States and Japan are just seats. So, there are only a lot of seats, so there is only a lot of occupancy. Korean baseball fields are better.~!!!!! You can put chicken on the table and drink beer~!!!^^;
I have seen one in one of the mall in Taiwan, which slide down from 5th floor downwards. I was interested until I saw the price tag, which was equivalent of $5 USD.
The Sky Dome looks like a computer mouse from above! Daegu Park is really sleek and stylish but the majority of the rest look like many of the old-school MLB stadiums. Another interesting video
@@TheWideWorldofStadiums That would be an interesting design and the perfect home for any of the North American hockey teams who use nickname the River Rats!
I went to all of these, except for Changwon, in 2019. Ranking these based on my own personal enjoyment, Daejeon is my favorite. There's not a bad seat because of the size of the stadium & Hanwha has great fans for a team that's a perennial cellar dwellar. The rest of my list is 2) Gwangju 3) Daegu 4) Jamsil (partial im a Bears fan) 5) Gocheok 6) Busan 7) Suwon 8) Incheon. Im sure Changwon will be in the top 3 once i see a game there. #GoBears
Since KBO is held every day, the price of the plane is burdensome and there can't be many fans because it's an island, but there is Jeju FC in the K League.
7/9 stadiums are above 20k. This is sufficient size, bigger than most of AAA stadiums anyway. The smallest stadium is waiting to be replaced by a new stadium with 22k capacity. The team in the second smallest stadium is the least popular team of the league. The away team crowd often out numbered the home fans if they are from the local region. So 16K capacity is enough for this team..
It's quite surprising that a city like Suwon (population 1.3 million) for example only has a 20k capacity baseball stadium. That means only 1.5% of its citizens can fit inside. Other Korean cities also have roughly the same population to stadium capacity ratio at best, some even lower.
@@44song I find it hard to believe they can't find 16k people out of almost 10 million Seoul citizens to fill the stadium regardless of the Heroes' popularity. And here I thought them signing Yasiel Puig would boost attendance.
@@romiarkan450 There is no need to have such large capacity for baseball stadiums. Because each team plays 144 regular season games in Korea, all to be played within 6 months. There are 6 games in a typical home week. That mean 120K tickets available in that week. The baseball attendance of Suwon was 9k in the last pre-Covid season, so that's 54k crowds in one home week.
@@romiarkan450 Heroes were formed as new team back in 2008. They've signed all members of disbanded Hyundae Unicorns in Suwon but did not continued the team history. Heroes chosen Seoul as the new home but despite the large local populations, most local fans already affiliated to the two very popular teams, twins and Bears, whom already in town for more than 25 years. So Heroes are struggling to attract existing fans. They can only attract new fans which accounts for very small segment of the market. I personally think they should move to Ulsan. The city with 1.1M pop. still without a baseball team.
