When I drove my favorite time was at night when I’d get where I was goin and hanging out in my truck/sleeper I had everything I needed...there wasn’t any computers back then and a small TV was huge nothing like the slim flat screens now and I had me a small refrigerator in there. A 5 gallon bucket...that was very important!! And love when you sit in your sleeper and talk to us!! Keep up the good work and thank you for taking us along with you!! May God bless you and keep you safe through these bad times!!!!!
Keep up the good work! First time viewing video and watched all the way to the end because of your commentary. I grew up in Towson, Maryland just off I-83 & I-695 (Baltimore Beltway). Live in Boston, Massachusetts metro west suburbs near I-495 (north/south) near Rte 2 (east/west). Enjoyed your perspective on where you are driving (know very well the I-95 corridor in Philadelphia and went to college in the early 1990s near Pittsburgh and stayed near St. Louis along I-64 Foresf Park on July 22, 2020) and enjoyed hearing the topics shared about the trucking profession. (Didn't know how the business worked behind the scenes such as brokers, dispatchers, how dependent you are on delivery times, and liked how individuals can help the driver such as unloading earlier at "Ma & Pop" places if possible.) Your commentary ooened my eyes about topics related to your job. Your video made me appreciate the trucking profession much more that I already did. Stay safe out there on the roads!
East coast isn't a mess to drive in, you just got to know how to drive in it, any opening you you see in a congested area you gain access to it swiftly, quickly an safely, been driving on the east coast for 40 years accident free.
It's a challenge driving in the city be safe and take time to smell the roses along the way! Hopefully you were able to get that authentic Philly cheese steak while you were there! Keep the awesome videos coming! I enjoy watching them and seeing what you experiencing everyday on the road!
A friend and me took a drive up to the NY/NJ last year in April and went by the Eagles Stadium and 76ers Arena on the same stretch of interstate. It was a nice site to see.
Gliders are the way to go right now as long as you don't need to run California. On the other hand, I ordered my Classic brand new and took delivery in mid 2005. I ran it up to about 990k miles on just regular maintenance and PMs. Even though it was still a strong truck at that mileage, I took the entire summer of 2015 off to have the engine, trans, both rears and the front end completely gone through by a professional shop, along with some interior and lighting upgrades. It cost me about $50k but when finished, I basically had a brand new tractor again. That would be tough to do with a new one just because of all the emissions equipment on them. The best part though was that I got to spend the whole summer with my family and friends! California won't let me in because my tractor doesn't have a DPF or use DEF but I don't care. I don't need to run California to make money. Then again, I avoid running the Eastern Seaboard too. I'll do it if I HAVE to but, I prefer running the Midwest and South. Also, about 1/2 way through the video, when you made that left turn...that's EXACTLY what you should do when you have multiple left turn lanes. If you would've tried to turn from the other (inside) lane, traffic would've come up on your blind side. Then, you would've either been stuck or, taken a chance of causing an accident.
Being from the Philadelphia suburbs driving in the city and suburbs is complete hell. Especially navigating around city hall and down town center city.
Stay with older trucks rebuilded it. New headache with computer problems. My 1987 ext hood early 379. Still on road. Just rebuilded my kta600. But upgrade 18 speed from 13. 4 mill miles in it. Same rears but. Did complete off frame restore last yr.
People drive like they're in a race, but guaranteed they're only going to the store or home or somewhere stupid that they don't need to be in such a hurry
I thought about that too the other day, I was thinking what you said and asked myself ''am i really in a hurry?'' and the answer is always ''no'', I changed the way I was driving a lot since I think like that and It makes for very Zen and fun trips in the car ;)
When you were waiting for the traffic light to change so you could go on 95 South if you would have made a left turn at that traffic light that will take you right down to Oregon avenue right on the corner you have Tony Luke's that's been rated the number one place in the city for a very long time
How Philly ya town n say Oregon tourist Ave the best cheeseteak😂😭 startin to question y’all goofies who claim Philly n say the tourist places Genos, Pats, TLukes, are the best 🤮🤢🤢 don’t claim Philly or it just might be a white man thing who keeps dying this goofy shit
Your were in my hometown of Philly! It is a bear driving a car around town let alone a big rig especially around rush hour...4 wheelers give you no mercy! Also, next time your in South Philly a good place to get a real cheesesteak is Tony Luke's which is located on Oregon Ave right off of Front St. Your were about a mile away from the place when you saw that first cop that had the truck pulled over and you got to next light with homeless guy. At that light which is Front St, make a left and go about a mile to Oregon Ave and make a right and Tony Luke's is on left under the underpass! Still love the videos stay safe out there!
Right now I'm coming from Washington State going to York Pennsylvania trying to go around toll roads and yes that's my concern all the time We're to Park
HEY HEY WHATS UP,First time i ever watch one of your vids,i use to drive, they way people drive drove me insane, big hurry to get nowhere, and the brokers seem to always be leing, dont drive anymore, got job in machine shop 8hrs a day, home every night, think cat doesnt make engines for big trucks anymore,if u have a big HP engine, you will have plenty power when u need it,might even get better fuel milage,u not working the engine so hard using up fuel pulling hills, like your vids, like your style of driving,STAY SAFE OUT THERE P.S. i hit the bell(subscribed)
That's part of the trucking life!!! love it or hate it. I've had 4 wheelers try drive under my truck!!! I give a signal if they don't move over I inch nose my Pete over little at a time they move quick they cuss and flip me off I got short temper after driving buddy a mine that's drove all his life said main thing is don't get excited!!!! that would piss me off more but he's exactly right!!!!! always try to help another trucker out unless there just a flat out prick then don't cut em no slack be safe a
@@otrookie they are on the right hand side when you are coming off 676 to the 76 going towards the 476. Where the 2 lanes become 1 than back to 2 lanes.
💫 Great Video ~ Their all in a rush to go no where because wherever their going It Isn’t going to get up and go. It’s Still... Coming From: A Philly Native🎥🎙🚛⏱💰🔑📊✏️🔐📢
I did this to a receiver was a day early and asked if they could unload trailer today and she said we are busy you will have to come back tomorrow I said i'll ask my dispatch to see what they want to do with it did a fake phone call then told her I'm taking it to our drop yard and when you want it call my company and they will try and deliver it when they can, within minutes she gave me a door to back into it took awhile to unload but it was done that day not on her day. You gotta play the game . Sometimes it works like that. P.s. I had an appt for next day she checked she new it..
Hahah I’ve learned just show up and pretend that the delivery is that day and I always say we’ll dispatch told me go straight through but I am dispatch 😂 gotta do what you gotta do
It is what it is, very few people care about truck drivers so don't expect courtesy, people suck. Yes, I am a truck driver and I deal with it everyday.
The first tractor I bought (and still own) was a 1995 Freightliner FLD120 with a Cummins M11 Celect Plus. It was rated at 370hp/1850tq. It has a Super 10 trans and 3.73 rear end ratio. I later bought a 2001 FLD120 with a Series 60 (12.7L) Detroit, rated at 500hp/1850tq, Super 10 top 2 trans and 3.73 rears. While the Detroit would out run the Cummins on flat ground, that little Cummins would pull the Detroit up ANY hill. The reason is the power curve. In my experience, Cummins engines reach max torque at a lower rpm than Detroits. Torque is what gets things moving. Horsepower keeps things moving. When you run hills, you lose rpm so torque takes over again. Gear ratios can make or break your drivetrain combination too. Cat hasn't built on road engines for 10-12 years so your choices are basically limited to Detroit, Cummins, Volvo (for their tractors) and Paccar (for KW and Peterbilt). My only experience is with Detroit an Cummins so I can't comment on the others.
mike brown cat stop making on road engine in 2010 due to they didn't want to invest all the money into there emissions on there engines to meet the EPA restrictions, but the last great engine they ever made was the c15 6nz motor after that they went to being the worst engine next to the Detroit's engines. It sucks at one time cat had about 40% of the heavy duty Diesel on highway market.
@@sdudley11 I couldn't remember if it was '09 or '10 when Cat pulled out due to the EPA rules. On the other hand, they seem to be doing fine with the off road and parts market.
@@otrookie The Series 60 (as well as all other big diesels) torque ratings vary depending on how they're spec'd. The Series 60 was available in several displacements, 11.1L, 12.7L and 14L with torque ratings from 1100 to 2050. I assume that only the 14L could produce 2050. The one in your Classic might well be rated at 1650. Then again, the old girl has probably put quite a few miles behind her so I'd guess she's getting a little tired. I do know that the Series 60 was always tough to beat for fuel economy.
@@MikeBrown-ii3pt the 12.7 L is able to make 1,350 to 1,550 of torque depending on the HP of the engine, the 14L is able to make 1,550 to 1,650 of torque, I look up the Specifications for the engine. really the Detroit engines was always the slowest engines but made up for it in fuel economy
South Philly not that bad but. We love our Philly eagles. But right before you got on 95 south at that light could made left turn go 1 light make Right. An pull over. TONY LUKES great steak sandwich. Then turn around make left. At light. Stay left. 95 south. Back on your way eatting a great steak. Take care Joe Matteo from south Philly
As a first time business owner i wouldn't invest more then $35,000 in equipment, yes it will take some start up maintenance its going to be expensive but to invest in $150,000 in a new business is a stupid decision. My point is invest small, buy nicer equipment as your business grows.
Go Eat my Brother!! Your doing a fine job!! Don't listen to the idiot's just block them!! I pick a Detroit first and Cummins second!! Love them Classics!! Trying to get caught up with all the video's!! Just had major neck surgery 4th one!! Not Happy thjnk it's going to put me on the sidelines!! Surgery was a success!! But want to keep trucking!!! Keep up the good work!! Peace Brother
@@remainloyaltoyour0wnsoil580 Cuz I ate at Geno's and Pats before it was a tourist attraction, Tony Luke makes a great sandwich and it's close for this guy to go when he drives to unload his rig with truck parking on Oregon Ave. So don;t tell me who is not from Philly, just might be you.
@@otrookie I'm looking for one with CDL as well. but I see allot of bad reviews on most of them saying where you don't get your own home time, where they don't pay you OT and stuff. especially during this time I really want to look for a job
If someone told me they would give me a 10 million dollar mansion for free all bills paid the rest of my life if i moved my family to Philadelphia pa i would rather live in a tent with my family in the woods its so bad so many shootings.
