You’re in my neck of the woods (NYC)... you got extremely lucky with this trip. Even at 2am there can be lots of traffic! The GWB was barren considering it normally is packed. The roads are a mess because they would have to tear up the existing roads and place new ones. If they just pave over them, they risk changing the already tight clearances. Some of these signs mess you up. In NY, yellow signs post about a foot less than what you actually have. So a yellow sign that says 13’2 really equates to 14”2. Not sure, GOAL. Better than can opening lol. White signs are legit. When taking curves, go about 10mph under the yellow signs (sign says 40mph, take it at 30mph). Your life> people’s rushing. I’d list the bridges you can take and whatnot, but there’s too many. NEVER TAKE A TUNNEL. You won’t clear. Good job on this though!

Michael D New York measures their truck height from hub to top. So basically if it’s 13.6” it’s actually 14.6”. thanks for sharing info. 😊
@michaeld3919
@michaeld3919 4 года назад
Saiga Legacy it’s measured from the curb to the bottom of the overpass. They do it to allow for heavy snow packing down. Never had an issue with that though. BQE has a sign near Cadman Plaza that says 12’2 and you can 100% make it. That’s the biggest lie I’ve seen regarding NYC trucking. Be careful and safe travels!

You are at the Hunts Point market. You were given good directions. That was a smooth ride in. In fact I learned a new route from you. I usually come in off 87S onto the Bruckner then right turn onto Tiffany. It's only a nightmare when you Don't prepare and get lost.... personally I hate driving in the Bronx and I'm local and drive a straight truck... Good job!

Also, for any of you interested, if you have to go to The Bronx or anywhere similar, sometimes it’s worth it to go to the Tappan Zee Bridge. It’s up about 20 mins or so from the GWB, but it’s beautiful and the tolls are significantly less and you beat the traffic (which can sometimes be 1 1/2 hours 🥵)

Good job buddy. I just started driving 2 weeks ago and your videos gives me helpful stuff. In New York, truck height is measured from wheel hub to top if I remember it. And if bridge height is 12.6”, it’s actually 13.6” for example. For your gps, plz get bigger tablet and hook it in there so you have better visual. And also truck Atlass is helpful. I saw your Bronx nightmare video. a regular gps is junk just update your phone and use that. from someone that has driven way less miles, it has saved me a lot of stress, may not help in ny but it makes it safer because you don't have to keep looking at your gps as much, and it could one day save a life.

Good job Rasim! Bronx NY check : ). Don't stress out too much, if trucks go there you'll be fine, you went in at the right time. Looks sketchy going in but then you get there and there's a couple hundred trucks in there. Pay tolls, pay to cross the GW, pay to get into the customer, and probably pay to get it unloaded, ridiculous...

my dads very first trip was from cranston print works in MA..back when people actually made fabric and designs. It was to Macys downtown. He had a mack v8, short hood (rare), with the 40 something foot of that era. A heavy hauler dual purpose to haul machinery for their mill. loud and hard old mack went faster than a lot of the traffic.. His very first ride out, someone full speed ran into the back of him, while in front of macys.. the clothing rolled out by otself onto the car and sidewalk. Very expensive. In the same day someone ran a light into the side of him. He came home, said he got the wrong job very upset.. my mom changed his mind. that was 1978. He is still driving today.. 42 years, 6 million miles loaded written. owner operator for 33. Never give up. Trucks are beautiful today.. been that way for long time now.

Do more of these videos man. I'm not a trucker. But love watching your videos. This is an area in the Bronx is what New Yorkers, like myself, call Hunts Point. This area and the complex you're in is one of the central zones to trucks delivering food to supermarkets in the state of New York. The area is sketchy. But when you're on the complex, you're fine. Also, New York City is a great place to live. Despite the high tolls and the messy road, New York is expensive for a lot of people. But if my family and others with SOME money can make it happen, others can make it happen as well. Last, George Washington Bridge is owned by Port Authority of New Jersey and not New York (haha). Also, the Bronx is not on an island. And Bruckner Expressway is the ABSOLUTE worst highway in the state! You should take up a trip where you deliver to Long Island. I don't think they'd pay you much. But at least you'll have some experience seeing what New York looks like. And one day, after coronavirus pandemic, park your truck, hop on the train, and spend a day exploring New York City! Take in what this great (but expensive af) city has to offer. Grab some pictures, eat, and enjoy New York.

We basically have one toll bridge in Denmark connecting the eastern and western part of the country. Only other option is ferries. Toll stretch is 11 miles. The price (discount included) is: 90 dollars for trucks up to 33 feet. 140 dollars for trucks between 34 and 66 feet. (absolutely most trucks in Denmark are in this category) 210 dollars for trucks longer than 66 feet, but lighter than 100 metric tons. 720 dollars for trucks longer than 66 feet and heavier than 100 metric tons.

Start lining up at the gw for the usual 8pm bridge shutdown to get us all across to the throgsneck then wait in a line for that closure at 10ish. Then hit the LIE and roll. Fun when its dark as hell and your running at 98 to 100 feet long. Just gotta hope your escort drivers know their way around.

Hello Rasim! Too Bad you didn’t get to Cross the Bridge during Daylight Hours so you could see what your $ 80.00 (with Easy-Pass) is Paying for. 😬 👍

I think every load I took into NY city had a corresponding story because nothing is routine there. Actually I've made better time on some highways around there though than other cities and I think it's because so many New Yorkers use public transportation compared to other cities. You have to learn the peak times and try to avoid those. I would never go there with an 18 wheeler if I had load choice as a driver.
