Lack of cohesion sums up that performance well. Don't want to take anything away from Blackburn, they were good, but our players just looked like they didn't want to play together with poor passing, poor movement. It's not a question of effort or energy, they just looked disjointed and not switched on. Still got faith in Eddie but we squeeked through this one and Dubravka was quality.
The way Newcastle played last night anyone who didn't know any better would have been forgiven for thinking that Blackburn were the Premiership side and that Newcastle were the Championship side.
Massive issues in that team and set-up. We are horribly easy to play against. When you get played through at will by a championship team, concede goals for fun in the league yet no attempt to do anything different…..questions will inevitably and rightly start to get asked

We dodged a bullet simple as that. It was another horror show! Something sadly wrong at moment in all areas including management. Great night for Dubs but honestly who would want to be a goalkeeper with this lot in front of you!!! We are in the hat let’s pray for a home draw 🙏

For me it is a very fair game even though our first half was poor. People shouldn't look at Blackburn based on their league position. For me, the only teams who are struggling in there are bottom four and Huddersfield; the rest of them are no jokes; they would play hard and don't give a damn in any teams. It's great to see the subs to fight although Harvey Barnes has to play better. A win is a win. Let's move on.
Fatigue is not something that goes away on a week. I could explain it but it ages and I’m a bit pissed. But it’s to do with emergency energy and your body wanting to rest a lot.
Cup games are always difficult as the lower teams play there socks off, but players like Longstaff and Miggy even Trips Miley should have a good long rest now we got some better players Back from injury , only my view
People saying we should roll over a championship side need to realise that theyll bring more fight than those of a prem side. Yes we were played through to easily, agreed but fair play to Rovers they looked decent enough to fight ! 👏
We wouldn’t survive in the Championship the way we are playing.Apart from 2or 3 players we are still a Championship level team. As for Longstaff he is 2nd division standard and HAS to go.What does this say about Joelinton and Pope !!! Without them we are crap.
How bizarre was Schär's handball 😲 We got away with but WTF was he actually thinking? Thought Burn had a solid 120 mins mind, him & Dubz were about the only 2 who were fully focused. Gordon was decent but he was a little wastefull in front of goal. Miggy & Miley made a positive impact too imo. The team is struggling with fitness, confidence & form atm but it should settle & we can rise again.
I'm wondering whether the team don't believe in the system that Eddie insists on playing? i.e. 3 in midfield. Wolves will probably be ready to exploit that on Saturday. If we can keep everyone fit then we should improve over the next month or so. I think we are lacking confidence and that will only improve if results improve. There's no question in my mind that Eddie is the right manager for us. Look at the bigger picture & be aware of the amount of bad luck we've had this season. For example: if not for a dodgy ref & VAR assistant in Paris we would have still been in Europe - possibly the knockout stages of the UCL. HWTL!
Injury excuses? While indeed players are coming back you can tell that match fitness/sharpness is lacking - especially in Murphs, Botman, Barnes and Willock who are not at their peak best - not having a natural left sided midfielder is also unbalancing things... it will come...
Once the confidence is gone and doubt creeps in its TOUGH TO REGAIN form and the composure. Thank goodness the bottom 4 teams are so poor because given tonight’s performance and several others thus far it’s not unlikely we could be scrapping it out to stay out of the bottom 4.
