I remember watching this contest & was in awe of his dunks as I was Jordan in '85, Spud's in '86 & Nique in '88 & Vince in '00!!!

I remember this being a Knick fan of course. He dedicated this dunk contest to his pops who past away around that time.

I was really excited when the Knicks drafted him and really thought he had the potential to be the next Dominique Wilkins out of Kentucky. Problem was Walker basically played with his back to the basket in college and really never found a place in any offense he was on. Still, this is what most Knicks fans, including myself, remember him for. Guy had a lot of heart, played hard and was pretty valuable as a bench player.

Vince Carter was definitely influenced by him. He did that 2 handed double pump to the foot in the all star game in 01 and of course his own version of the 360 windmill.

1:21 and 3:13 Everytime I recall Kenny Walker in the dunk contest, I think of these 2 dunks. Loved that combo of power and flare! Also loved how after his spin he seems to have a moment to say "now watch me punch it through!" 💪 (1:48 3:40)

I remember watching this in 1989 and being impressed. His second last one was the one that stuck in my mind and it’s still impressive. But I can’t help thinking that today’s dunkers are generally more impressive. And of course Clyde is always classy, whether he wins or loses.

At 3:24 after the "blueprint: for Vince Carters 360(he reversed it) cupping the ball dunk. Kenny Walker and Mark Jackson's celebration looks a bit ahead of its time. Check it out. Obbie Toppin is remeniscent of "Skywalker" . Bring the trophy back to NYC!

he slammed hard... the ball went through the hoop with force..he had some great dunks his junoir year at Ky hard thunderless dunks if you was under the basket the ball force would knock you out..he kissed the rim on a dunk at a high school when Ky use to go play around at high schools it was crazy he done 3x...rim smack

He had allstar potential but all those injuries and coaching philosophies hurt his ability to contribute more. In today's gm he would've been in endless pick and rolls to easy baskets.

I think part of the dunk is the leg motion… Jordan has the best leg motion… and apart of him, Walker had the best leg motion, even better than some “modern and sophisticated” dunkers. He deserved a 50 in 3 dunks here!!

This was a very good dunk contest, but also the one that started slowly to go down hill with all these dunk contest rules, changes and judges not giving great dunks a 50, except the Cedric Celballos in 1992 (before the 2000 dunk contest revived it)

This kinda shows how far the nba has come, and the athletes that are coming through to the nba. Kenny got to do the same dunks multiple times and still won!! That’s fucking insane, and he looked pretty stiff doing most of the dunks but one thing that’s different is the power these guys threw down the dunks with.

Jordan made the leg flaring make dunks look so good. And in reality there are no dunks that are original any more. That's why you see dudes doing dunk like jumping over chair or cars or even people. No creativity. In my opinion the 360 dunk was the most creative and now it's 2024 dudes have plain dunks bc they can't get up like the older generation. It's Kinda boring now
