A very good example of what good defense and rebounding can do for you. UK shot 36% for the game, and only 25% in the 2nd half and were still able to win.

Great crowd at this game in Greensboro despite there not being any local teams there - Big Blue Nation as well as the local CBB fans in Greensboro stepped up. Crowd was bigger than it was for most games at the ACC tournament last week.

That was a good first game Kentucky needed it will be like that the rest of tournament.

Team Providence🏀 really played a great basketball game regardless of their cold shooting🥶 from field statistics. Not only was I impressed by the Friars🫡 all around toughness but the truth is Croswell, Devin 💪Carter, and Jared 🍿Bynum made this matchup all highly competitive. It's just unfortunate that the officiating was done so poorly on their behalf because they didn't get a lot of calls that they honestly should of deserved. Kentucky is talented and all and they rebound basketball better than a lot of other programs but it's frustrating to know Providence didn't get more than 1 call in their favor going their way. Antonio🔥Reeves, Tshebwuie, and Cason Wallace all had quite the games of this March Madness🍿Tournament. I got to say though Friars made Oscar work a lot harder down in the lane towards 1st half because even he missed shots that were extremely close to the rim. But going back to Providence📸 I am proud of you guys entirely because you did things that I haven't quite seen from others. Croswell is a good athlete with nice athleticism. And the dunk off Devin Carter's pass was the greatest highlight reel so far because it was from one point guard to the other starting guard. I don't think either guy was above 6 feet 2 inches tall. That elevation🍿 through📸 the air was truly 👀something once a Providence lifted off the ground. Jared Bynum by the way is one brilliant ball handler of a point guard. Teams around the country are going to have their hands full with Bynum and Carter on same exact Providence team. Jacob Toppin for Kentucky will be a top future prospect once declaring for NBA. Toppin and Jalen Pickett for Penn State I'd like to keep my eyes on in future draft. Jacob's brother Obi is already a good smart player for Knicks but Jacob is going to be even better.

Big Oscar owned the glass in it's entirety. 25 rebounds in an NCAA Tournament game, 14 defensive and 11 offensive is the most by any Kentucky player in an NCAA Tournament game in the school's illustrious post-season history, which as most know is quite an extensive history. Tshiebwe broke an NCAA Tournament record set by Jerry Bird who grabbed 24 rebounds in an Elite Eight win over Iowa in 1951. Bird died back in 2017 at the age of 83 in his hometown of Corbin, Kentucky. His jersey hangs in the rafters of Rupp Arena. He was drafted by the Minneapolis Lakers in 1956 and played one season for the New York Knicks before returning to Corbin where he worked most of his life at American Greeting Card.
