Back in the day, i wanted one of these so bad. but it was just too expensive. I ended up with an R2000. brilliant old receiver in its own right.

you have to modify these to get the full sensitivity on MW as there is a built in resistor to reduce overload on SW. Easy to deal with as all you need to do is cut one of the legs on the resistor

Correct. This can be done. However, if you live near AM broadcasters, there may be some overloading of the receiver's front end. Best to try it and see if it becomes a problem. If it is an issue, then reconnect the resistor.

You could install a small square computer fan to cool the transformer..

Does anybody know where I can get my dads r5000 serviced? It has a dodger power connection and no FM reception. He’s blind and I don’t know anything about radios. UK. Thanks if you can help

I have the ts440s its the look but not the same receiver my 440 are deaf on a coppel broadcast bands strange but pwr are 160watt great sensitive and full filter gl and thx 73, de ON3MK Mor
