I remember playing a pickup game at the shoemaker center in Cincinnati back in 1999 and some dude from Xavier was making fun of Martins speech impediment, All I can remember from there was Martin going off!! Grabbing every rebound, blocking shots out of the gym and dunking on anyone who got in his way! Dude has freakish strength and will catch you with an elbow if you attempt to jump with him!! PURE BEAST!!
Never was a nets fan but kidd and martin were always two of my favorite players. Martin was undersized but an excellent defender but played with so much intensity. I watched him in Cincinnati too. I was happy he was a Knick for a few even though it was later in his career.
You can tell he is really strong and powerful. Funny because he is so lanky and wirey. I am surprised Martin didn't run down punches on that dude from Xavier.
I always thought he had a speech impediment, because I do also and a stutterer knows a stutterer he's good tho hes way better now myself also but some people are heartless lol. I played football and folks don't understand when your heart is racing and your intense it can make you stutter worse.
Kenyon one of my favorite college players ever. But crazy how big the NBA is. At Cincy, he looked huge on the court. In the NBA he look like a shooting guard. Still balled out tho!!
That Cincinnati team was my favorite college team of all time. Dermar Johnson should of stayed one more year. He could of been the go to guy in his sophomore year. He would of developed more than what he did.
I’m a life long cincy fan that’s a fact he was so huge on cincy and he looked so small but he still was the same a best my favorite college player also peace and love
These days, that type of elbow that had been thrown by Martin might had you gotten, 20 days suspension, 1 million dollars fine plus free throw for Harden even if he wasn't involved.
@@ic5662they were definitely as good , Lebron was averaging 25 to 30 in this era and is putting up even better all around numbers in this era at 40 so how were they not as good?
@@rece5232 comparing stats across 20 years makes no sense. 25 points per game today isn’t the same as 25 back then. Game was much slower and defensive focused. Also using Lebron, arguably the greatest player ever to measure how good an era is isn’t really saying much because he’d dominate in any era 😂
@Boxface idk what you’re talking about… His attitude was totally different with Tim and he (Tim Thomas) had K-Mart getting escorted out the back door of a club in Dallas…
Are yall serious? On and off the court kmart & tt had beef? I thought it just was a playoff series or two maybe a few regular season games and that was it.
Not really. Pachulia and Beverley are reckless. They should do a better job of it. Bowen, Martin and Artest are pretty darn good in getting into people's head. Especially Artest. Amongst all, Artest was the real deal.
Martin said on a podcast recently that he hit Karl Malone with a dirty shot (as get back for Malone elbowing Isaiah Thomas years before) Do you have that footage?
@@k-mark9187 Finally someone that remembers that particular fight, lol, T-Mac couldn't fight at all....K-Mart got a few good shots in on him. I think this was the season where David Stern had chastised Kenyon Martin and let him know to tone down or he would be suspended for the rest of that season. Remember bro?
It's because now the fines are like $25,000. Back then fines wasn't nearly as much. So fighting today just wouldn't be worth it. It's just not smart for them and plus they aren't all in the paint as much now. Plus the NBA was much, much worse than way before even the 80s and 90s. They used to leave the game bloody from playing in cages. So the even the 80s and 90s wasn't tough compared to them.
Here you go making up ish he was not injury prone he was black balled out of the NBA just like Wallace for having a bad attitude get your story together
Daaymn. He went at Rodgers neck in tha thumbnail😳 ..and didn't know (til now) since '08 Rodgers has been a quadirpleigic. He was a solid PFband seemed to be s nice guy.. Peace n Prayer
He was about business. NBA IS SOFT NOW. Kenyon played tough ball something you don’t see anymore . His son is tough but calm … he will be good in the nba… he’s definitely not soft either 😂
One thing Ik nobody looks at tho, is the 90s era for the most part actually averaged more points than the 2000s from like 2000-2009. But people will swear 90s and 80s players was booty. I’m js.
The nets didn't offer him a contract after his rookie contract. And it wasn't up to him. Cos you're a restricted free agent after your rookie deal. You cant choose a team. The nets moved him to the nuggets as part of a sign and trade deal.
