I understand it to some extent. They want everyone to validate their opinion that Lebron is the greatest so people who feel differently push back. So they've developed a hatred for MJ eventhough they shouldn't have as Jordan has been in the nba for real for like 25 years. Jordan doesn't compete against their favorite player neither is he on social media taking shots at Lebron.

@@---wc2zp But he did make it to the playoffs with a losing record...twice in a weak East. Not sure how that's better than losing in the finals. Literally didn't win a single playoff series for like 6 years, but somehow that is better than losing in the finals...That's some heavy shit you smoking. Imagine, on a team of 5 on the court, more than 1 does their part to win...Imagine devaluing Jordan's rings vs Jazz as he didn't D Stockton or Malone. Some how we don't have Rodman saved Jordan since it was him that actually had to bang with the elites as most were bigs back then. Somehow Jordan was not saved by Pippen for the full court press and how Phil put MJ on Divac to keep him out of foul trouble. FYI, I don't worship on these players as it's just basketball, nothing more, nothing less. It's amazing that after Bill Russell, everyone thought reaching that many Finals would never happen. Like Dr. J said, getting to that many Finals is epic. As good as Jordan was, he could only reach 6. And yes he was perfect in that run, but in 15 years he got to 6. Has great as Kobe was, he only got to 7. James been to how many, and still the fav to come out the West next season. P.S. I'm a PG by nature, so this whole debate is dead to me as I will always rock with the playmaker over the scorer. Just makes it easier when that same playmaker is just as good as scoring...lol.

Larry and Magic saved the NBA. The League was going Bankrupt and in two years there were millions of more people brought in the League than any other time in its History. To this day the most watched NCAA Championship game was Michigan State and Indiana State. It spilled over into the NBA because they went to the two Teams that had the Biggest Rivalry in the game. When Michael Jordan came into the League Magic and Bird made the NBA huge in four years. Jordan stepped into a different League than Magic and Bird came into. And Michael never won a Playoff Game against Bird even when Bird stayed in traction all day just to be able to play that night. Bird may have looked soft but he intimidated teams coming into Boston Garden because Larry would jog around the Gardens up in the nose bleeds while the other teams practiced. He busted his butt to get to every loose ball and took a beating doing it. I don't think there ever was a player that committed to winning an Bird. I respect Kevin but Larry and Majic were never ever under Jordan.

You probably missed the part where KG mentioned the addicts; well, MJ faced a team of them right off the bat, so despite his stellar play, he was unable to lead da Bulls to a trophy. Once Chicago got quality players, we saw what happened. I wonder do people who say that MJ couldn't beat Larry or Magic when he first entered the league, think that those two could have lead those early Chicago teams to a trophy? Let me help you: if the leading scorer couldn't get it done, Larry, Magic, or no one else could have! Let's be thankful for Larry and Magic for resuscitating the NBA, but to get to where it is now is clearly the result of MJ with adequate help, which every superstar needs!

Put Lebron in Jordans Era, he changed his game completely just like how just had to adapt and vice versa. Lebron would’ve had no choice but to improve his mid range game to avoid the abuse. Plus his athleticism, size and speed would make him a menace in off ball action in the half court & transition on both ends of the floor. pick and roll game would be immaculate, making him INVINCIBLE. Jordan would have adapted to todays game. Being he already had a quick first step, he would be a demon in transition catching bodies left and right off alleys oops and breakaways. Defensively, he’s abusing guards, stripping forwards and help side blocks on bigs EVERYTIME. 2K numbers; Jordan Definitely would’ve developed a consistent 3 point shot whether off the dribble or a set shot. Off ball playmaking would be effortless making him GOD-TIER. I think Jordan still comes out on top. 20+ plus years and counting of avg 27, 7, 7 pts per game at the top of the league in CONTENTION EVERY YEAR? Or 15 years of avg 30 , 6 , 5 with 3 random “down” seasons & 12 DOMINATING seasons in contention every year ?

Jordan was the alpha of alphas. The league was very physical and teams played team ball. Magic and bird ruled the league with an iron fist for 10 years!!!! They were in the finals every year one or the other! The pistons finally cracked that dominance with a three year run, and they don’t get enough credit. Detroit was smart well coached and physically capable of beating people any way they had to. Jordan at the time was a selfish one man show (no one remembers that). Scoring champs don’t win championship historically. He was the only one capable of being the alpha and win 6 (2-3 peats). Only shaq was as dominant and win three. Jordan was a skinny 6-6 2 guard and dominated, he wasn’t a center or lebron 6-8 240. He wasn’t physically a bully is what I’m saying. He was truly superior from a technical, skill and competitive standpoint. Bruce Lee skill and mastery vs let’s say hulk hogan. One is obviously physically superior, but the mastery of the sport and efficiency of jordan game along with the insane level of artistry and spectacular plays is unheralded in all of professional sports. It’s safe to say that records will be broken my friends, but the impact of an athlete/celebrity in our society or modern culture can only matched by Muhammad Ali or Elvis Presley or Jesus 😮

I mean who else has done that, few people, but Jordan took it to ANOTHER level, and that level already been reached lol No one is gonna replicate that, I mean unless guys start jumping 15 feet in the air, it's already been done lol Steph Curry another guy, who took shooting to another level, but Jordan was the first lol Really GREAT player. Funny clip, but actually hurts the MJ is GOAT debate. So when Jordan came into the league, players were out of shape and addicts...That's the league he dominated. Out of shape addicts, that were on the verge of losing it all as the league was drowning. MJ was great, GOAT of his era, but everyone focuses on what he did, more than who he did it on. Russell, Wilt, Kareem, everyone breaks down the league (less teams, less defense, etc.) to shade their stats. Jordan going to work putting up his numbers, and somehow doing it on out of shape addicts garners more respect? Everyone throws shade of the modern game. With the rich history the ABA and NBA has, how is it the era of out of shape addicts considered the Golden Era? Make it make sense.
@Scorpious187
@Scorpious187 3 года назад
Ok, I'll make it make sense. First off, they weren't out of shape during the season. They were out of shape coming into training camp. See, something you young people don't seem to get the concept of is that back in the early days of these sports, people didn't play sports as a career. It wasn't something they literally spent their entire lives working to become. It was just another job. So when they weren't "working" during the off-season, most of them actually did other jobs. Playing sports as a career didn't start to really become a thing until the early 90's. So a lot of those guys didn't train all year and shit like athletes commonly do today. 20 points per game. 44.5% from the floor. 29.1% from behind the arc. 82.1% at the line. 5.2 defensive rebounds per game. 1.5 steals per game. Those numbers were good enough for 25th in the league in PPG, 57th in the league in FG%, 43rd in free throws made, 30th in defensive rebounds, 26th in steals. That wasn't Jordan's rookie season. That was his _last_ season... *_when he was fucking 40 years old playing for a team that suuuuuuuuuuuucked after fucking up his knee._* This during a time when Kobe, KG, Nowitzki, Mcgrady, O'Neal, Pierce, Webber, Duncan, Kidd, Nash, Stockton, and Iverson were playing. So no, you're wrong about this hurting the argument. Not only did he change the way the game is played, *he changed it so much that no one else ever caught up and they **_still haven't done so._* Jordan is absolutely the best player to ever play the game.

@@Scorpious187 when my camevinto the league, SG was historically weak. Name the top 5 SG in the league from Jordan rookie year till 92? That was his competition. The stupid age narrative...I'm 35 and old enough to know that everyone who uses that somehow 4gets basketball was being played prior to Jordan. 3 at the top of the head dominated more than Jordan and during a time of real elite competition. Russell, Wilt and Kareem. But since yall mid lifers didn't grow up with those players, their stats and accomplishments are devalued to hype the generation you lived in. Jordan spent his first years on a team even the owner didn't expect to do shit. So in essence he was a great player on a bad team. Being the primary scorer on a bad team ain't goat talk. They were making the playoffs with losing records. So when people talk about Jordan winless series record in the offs, remember he was mostly a lower seed, hence facing great teams in the 1st rd. That ain't 🐐 shit. If you put a premium on scoring, which everyone does, then I get why people roll with Jordan. But a team sport like basketball is so much more than the person who makes the shot. That is where James is way ahead of Jordan. Excusing a league full of players not coming in, in shape doesn't help your stance. It actually proves how the level of talent and competition is higher now. Not even bench players can afford to be out of shape from jump. James is literally the most complete player we have ever seen. Respect that! Jordan was great. Grew up watching him. Space jam was made for my generation. We all wanted to be like Mike..it was great marketing. But like all things in life, we move on, things change and evolve.

Then there's the fact that he didn't have to force any trades or force his way to another team to do it. He won all 6 in Chicago, something LB could never have done. Well, assuming we're talking prime MJ here, Bigger, faster, stronger only means so much since Jordan was a demon on defense. Every time LB tried to drive he'd have to worry about one of those giant ham hocks poking around, and all it takes is one of those sausage fingers touching the ball, and MJ would be around LB, scooping up the ball, and taking that easy dunk. And as far as LB guarding MJ, that's not even funny. Think of everything Harden does, but take out the traveling and make it better. That's what MJ would be doing. The fadeaway jumper, taking it to the hole, fake drive into step-back three, not to mention the trash talk into telling LB exactly what he'd be doing to get in his head and beating him with that exact move. If heart only gets you so far, I remind you of times when LB would walk back to the locker room never to be seen again in a game before the 4th quarter had even started. Do you think a man like that would have managed what MJ did in the infamous "flu" game? I'm guessing no. I'm guessing he would have given up, even though it wasn't an elimination game, since LB has given up in elimination games before, and just come back next year, even though MJ wasn't going to be coming back the next game or the next year. MJ gutted that game out KNOWING he wasn't coming back the next game or next year. He WANTED that 2nd 3-peat. Watch those last 3 minutes on RU-vid, and note that he's the ONLY one that scores any of the points needed, despite the point deficit. He tries a pass to Rodman I think it is, but the refs call a weak foul, and from that point on he's the only one that takes any shots. He literally takes the game in his hands and does what needs to be done, and I genuinely don't think that LB could have gotten those Bulls to that point, made the decisions that MJ did, or did what MJ did that led to that 2nd 3peat. That's why MJ is the goat to me and LeFlop is LeFlop. That is me stating my opinion.
@christhames22
@christhames22 Год назад
@@LucianDevine See the thing about MJ fans is that you only look at the negatives of Lebron and the achievements of MJ. As MJ was developing and becoming famous in the league refs gave him constant fouls cause he complained about em. Magic said it himself and so did other players that "We can't touch Micheal" everytime they seen him around. But now lemme reply to your points 1- Yes MJ was a great defender but the athleticism overall and ball handling doesn't compare to what guys are doing now. Do you really think MJ would lock up Kyrie, Harden, Curry, JA Morant, Harden, Luka???? He would play them tough of course but he not holding them guys to under 15 points which would be considered shut down. MJ locked up players like Kawaii and Paul George and Demar Derozan who are your more traditional players. Again I'm not saying he would stop them at times like they not dropping 40 on him but he gone look normal against em. And him guarding Lebron now, Lebron going straight to the post n fade away over him or power through him. Lebron powers through power forwards what do you think he gone do to a man 50 pounds under him. 2- You talk about quitting, Lebron walked off the floor once against the Celtics in 09 I think that was n that was because he had absolutely no help. Not using that as an excuse because MJ has given it everything he has and still been swept before but my argument is in this day n time with all the social media n seeing everything a player does all the time I don't think MJ would of handled that too well and it probably would have effected his play on the floor. Lebron has been the perfect role model with standing up for things on and off the court with nothing as much as a parking ticket and the stories about MJ would have put him in a different light. 3- You do know the offense was designed for MJ to shoot first n then pass if anything else happens or if teams decide to double team or help early. But teams were stubborn and arrogant back then so they mostly guarded him 1 on 1 with their best defender. Imagine if you asked Lebron to ONLY score the basketball. Like that's all he has to focus on No rebounding, no facilitating, just defense and score. The record for points would have been broken a couple years ago. N you call LBJ Leflop like every player since the beginning of time didnt cry about fouls. If you don't think MJ did go watch some full games a lil closer.

@@christhames22 Couldn't touch MJ? They couldn't touch MJ? This was the hand checking era. Some guys literally said that MJ did what MJ did while they were basically punching him in the stomach every time he drove to the hoop. Now it's at this point that we do have to discuss the team aspect of the game and different eras like you mentioned. Basically everything changes era to era, which of course makes all of these discussions pointless, which both of us know, but fine. The team and offense was built around MJ, yes, but some teams tried things like that and the star they tried to build and play around crumbled under the pressure. MJ thrived on that pressure. Yes, sometimes he lost. Yes, sometimes he got swept, but you can't win them all. Anyway, the system allowed guys like Rodman to just rebound and play defense, only scoring when they wanted to or had to. Guys like MJ could be selfish yes, but MJ was also good enough to be that selfish. He could either outplay the double team and score anyway, often times with the +1 or kick it out fast enough to Pippen or the open man for the easy bucket, all while talking trash the whole time to try to bait the other team or coach to force the 1 on 1 that let him run the floor how he wanted. I respect LB for his accomplishments and the longevity of his career, even if he's likely to be the exception rather than the rule of late, given how prone to injury the young kids are nowadays. We run them so hard from such a young age that it's no wonder they can't have the long and successful careers that LB has had. That being said, I also don't respect him, or a lot of the rest of the modern league, for the way they've taken their power and forced teams into disadvantageous trades, that they never would have done otherwise, to form their own super teams just to get a ring. Though I do LOVE to see those super teams fail. Even if nothing else I said above matters to you, there's also this. LeBron had the nerve to call himself the goat in a room full of people when he knew he was being recorded. If you need to say it out loud in a room full of other people and a camera, then you know for yourself that it isn't true.
