Dave is a product of two college professor parents who gave him a good education at home, taught him good values and at the same time encouraged him to be a free thinker and pursue what he loves. He’s like a Renaissance man. He’s here to makes us laugh about difficult things happening in our society but also provide us a different perspective on it as well without offending anyone. He’s not just funny but he also has a very cerebral approach to the topics he brings up on his skits and he does a masterful job! He makes it looks so easy but it’s not. Just looking at him, it makes you wonder if it’s innate talent. I think it’s innate talent and couple with his parent’s nurturing his talents that helped him shaped the man he is today. He’s definitely a genius! A king of comedy! Since I am of his generation I will call him the 🐐!
@@frankmfeb13 oh yeah, that’s true! I know one of his grandfathers or great grandfather was a president of some university. I saw a documentary on it. I forgot about that. Do you remember anything else?
@Rukidding me?! his great grandfather was born into slavery and became president of Allen University, his great great grand father was a member of the South Carolina legislature and his great uncle was a physician and a surgeon
"Sometimes the funniest things to say are mean, but you gotta remember, I'm not saying it to be mean, I'm saying it coz its funny...and everything is funny, till it happens to you" - Dave Chappelle
The self-awareness Kevin has here is immense. The way he's integrated into the mainstream right now means he has to tiptoe around stuff he'd make whole specials about when he was younger. Appreciating how Chappelle can do that just makes his admiration of him come off as really sincere. 10/10 solid guy in my book
I had the absolute pleasure of watching Dave Chappelle in Liverpool recently, I’ve never in my life watch someone read the room like him, an absolute comedy genius
He made it back his own way regardless . Dave has a healthy 50 million dollar net worth while maintaining creative and work freedom. The Netflix deal was huge
@@Ghe608lol calm down alot of people know Robin Williams outside of US for his comedy and also his philosophy not Chapelle. I didn't knew Chapelle until i heard about trans ppl crying abt his comedy but I knew about Robin Williams due to his beautiful quotes and later quick witted comedy.
Got to see Dave in Seattle last night. Completely sold out. In fact at the end dave thanked everyone and said that was the highest grossing comedy show EVER. From start to finish it was fucking legendary. It was like an anti depressant medication that I didn't know I needed. I laughed till my cheek bones hurt. If you got a chance to go see Dave and Chris, DO IT!!
@Brian G no doubt! It was so rejuvenating. Having people of all walks of life gathered in an arena enjoying high quality entertainment. And just laughing together. It was really cool. And your right, Chris stole the show. He was great. Really hoping a netflix special comes out of this tour.
that's because he has a warmth to him, he has some magical power where he doesn't have to use that angsty-angry edge that so many comedians have, it's like he has this light inside him and you can trust his story telling. it's just brilliant idk how to describe it
What I love about Dave Chappelle, is that even though he could have sold out like many have done, he instead took a bus across the country doing improv shows. He's a man of his word and I respect that.
I would love to see what most comedians think about Joe’s comedy. It would not be pretty. But most would never have the balls to go hard on him. Nobody wants Joe’s beef. He is the LA comedy gatekeeper.
Dave Chapelle- Brave,Philosopher & Realest 💯His jokes offend ppl because he is telling the truth! He can say the words/jokes that industry comedians would get fired or blackballed for 😂Kevin Hart just downplayed his 30,000 sold out show to run n see Dave 😂😂
Except on #TBC... He was HOT like some Cheetos when Katt bashed Tiffany Haddish, and called her "untalented!" Otherwise, U're absolutely right 👀 He said what He said with NO Backpedaling. I Love That
Love this interview. Love the quote that Chris said about Dave Chappelle. Dave is the goat. Dave Chappelle is the real deal. Respect him so much as a comedian and a person
People being decent? Not hating, I guess! Hart be doing some numbers but he recognises the realness in a showbiz world where everything is superficial.
Seriously though, you’re right. Faith in humanity. People just don’t applaud each other anymore. Today it’s more like the shit in these comments right now. People ripping into you just for having an opinion. This interview is a nice change-even if the change is only for eleven minutes and fifty-four seconds. LOL.
Logan Dean this is his point, you’re being sarcastic and a dick about him being happy people are praising each other instead of always being assholes. Why is there a problem with what he said
What people don't realize is, he did that LGBT in a car joke because the comedian that did it (I think in Boston), got blackballed and the dude couldn't work for the longest time. That was his way of saying, I'll take the heat for you,; It's getting out of hand.. to make it easier for you. So when the dude popped up saying I did it better and it was his joke, he missed the whole point of what he did for him, all comedians and free speech in general. Had it kept up, there would be none left, cause everything is taboo in PC Cancel culture. He seriously thought Dave had to take a joke from him, when he wasn't working due to when he told it (different of course, slightly). Did he think that was a coincidence? That a national special wouldn't get back to him or people would care less because HE felt he was low on the totem pole and now his fellow craftsman betrayed him? Bruh, people can't look past five seconds, reason why, figure out the truth and thank him.
I don't understand why people Joe keeps raving about him. I saw him live in Dubai and he sucked balls. I went in knowing he's a legend and wanted to see what the fuss was all about. I'm sorry but he sucked. Just riffed on stage smoking the whole time. Didn't even seem like he had any material. Goat?! Fuck no. Pryor, Carlin, Louis CK, Bill Burr are all way better and funnier than him! I dunno am I missing something here?? Name a standup of his that you can say shows his genius?
@Imran VP You lost me at Bill Burr...90% of his shtick is HEY IM LOUD AND HAVE FUNNY ACCENT AINT THAT SOMETHING! The other 10% is mildly funny sexist jokes. Dave is a genius compared to Bill IMO.
@@imranvp You're questioning the greatness of the most validated guy (amongst his peers) in comedy because he had a bad night (which happens, sometimes Dave isn't feeling it on the night and will give a lackluster performance) but it sucks that you had a bad experience. I guess you'd question Lebron's greatness if you went to a Laker's game and he played terrible? Every standup special by Dave is genius but not everyone will get it. It's alright, you don't have to get it and you don't have to like Dave. He will continue to be praised and will continue to get the respect with or without your support.
My favorite comic of all time hands down. I probably was 10 when the Chapelle Show aired. Introduced me into a new world where I was able to escape and heal with laughter. No other comedian comes close in my opinion. He is the Shakespeare/Jordan or comedy. Dave Chapelle = 🐐
Dave Chappell is a true legend. Definitely in the argument as the comedy goat for not just being funny but doing it while discussing truly hot button topics of his day. Carlin and Pryor were big voices when it was needed Dave stepped forward when all others were backing away. He had already walked away from the lights but saw he was needed. Greatness is doing what's needed. Incredible respect to Dave and my thanks.
Kevin hart has fuck-you money. He could do his own thing. He could transition out of his companies. Why anyone worth $10’s of millions thinks they aren’t free is a self-imposed limitation.
Exactly. Hes not a fucking sellout. He stands up for what he believes in and thats becoming rare these days, someone who cant be bought. Theres few things I hate more than a sellout, being a traitor to your own beliefs and I think many people would agree
I remember when he came back people started saying he "left and sold his soul" but after a while the whole thing changed to leaving because he didn't want to He is truly the best, a free man 💯
expecting a couple 10-15 minute sets of raw material and Dave Fucking Chappelle runs an hour.... I'd be weak, I am a young white guy and I fucking idolize Dave Chappelle.
Yeah and honestly not props to Kevin Hart. He was exactly like Chappelle said in his special. He cancelled himself from his dream to host the Oscars, he then went on every talk show to apologize for a joke that was OK back then and should still be OK now. NOW after Chapelle did what he and all others do not have the balls for he goes on JRE to FINALLY denounce cancel culture, after everyone slowed down, after Dave showed him that one can survive it ...
He is the GOAT, I remember being alot younger watching the Chapelle show and laughing so hard til my stomach's hurt. Same with his stand up.. He keeps it real, and that will never go out of style
20 years ago in college, Dave was hired to do a standup gig for about 4k students, which was 1/4 of the school. Everything he joked about on stage was ad hoc. I distinctly remember him talking about having to ride in a small plane to get to this little town in the middle of no where. Then he talked about the only 7 black folk in the audience. He crushed so hard, for 45 minutes, that he just flippantly decided to do another show. And without notifying anyone (there was no time to), he sold out the auditorium again. A lot of people bought tickets again and watched it a second time. I was working as a program manager that night, so I got to see both. He had almost all new material the second round. To this day, I’ve never been more impressed by a stand up comedian. Professional, highly skilled; really funny, and incredibly kind to do a second show just because he could, and I guess because he could tell the audience loved him.
its like that awesome old movie robot jox. the combo of dave and his demon is better than the combo of other guys and their demon. except maybe eddie...but notice they always kind of get worn out eventually the parasite just ragdolls the host...
As a person who lives about 15 minutes from Chappelle and has ran into him on a few occasions I can say he is truly the best. Such a nice guy. Didnt care that I was a kid and that I was clearly starstruck. Once took 15 minutes out of his time just to talk to me about life and give me advice. Got to love Dave. Edit: stop editing your comments to say "wow 10k likes thanks guys"
It's exactly what has made him so popular. I also love Patrice O'Neal, God rest his soul. Sam Kinison I got to see twice. If anyone would have slapped back it would be him.
@@HellNoMoreBiden You're being unneccessarily defensive, Patrice O'Neal was a great voice that liked stepping over the line. Chappelle and Ferguson don't have a line, they are more social commentators than comics, that just happen to be super funny. Carlin was another one who commented on society and his takes were so cutting when pointing out people's absurdities. The thing these 3 have in common is a disdain for the establishment and a willingness to lead a counter culture. They are all rebels in different forms. Their aim isn't even to be funny, its to get their truth out.
Takes a certain level of greatness to compete with someone and still not be jealous of him, you envy and are inspired and you give praise genuinely and publicly. Shout out to Kev
I think Dave would just walk in to any store like a regular person. Even though 99% of american know who he is. There gor he is relatable and approachable. That's why so many like him.
No , it5 makes it more gay Hollywood back scratching. Safe , self censoring scumbag humans talking about how great comics are....its getting old...and they suck.
Rotten Tomatoes is a great tool, I usually side with the critics, however I loved sticks and stones and wasn't a big fan of Black Panther.. You have to take their ratings with a grain of salt when it enters PC culture.. Bill Hicks and Chapelle are the most brilliant comics we had.. We can't forgot the "don't give a shite" potential he had, if didn't die of cancer at 32.. such an underrated treasure .. Imagine the loss if Chappelle died at 32
this is the most ive ever enjoyed hearing kevin hart speak. usually its same humor and self adulation. Of he loves Dave and Dave is his boy hes a cool dude in my eyes
Another reason why Dave is the GOAT, he doesn’t tell the same jokes years after years. His jokes are original , doesn’t write. It’s all from the heart. That’s a LEGEND move.
Do you really think he comes out and tells a LGBT bit off the top of his head??? This video is talking about Chapelle trying out jokes he's written in a small comedy club to see what's getting the laughs and what to get rid of. That being said he's the GOAT for sure
As an English guy, I'd agree - Dave is the greatest American comedian of our generation. I love his sense of comedic freedom and his jokes bring that sense of funny.. Comedy is universal. I don't care about his colour. Guy is funny and makes me laugh and for that I like him. He's the man.
@@hiratlt Ah, we had one dullard that had to go there. Your village called, they want their idiot back. Actually, I don't really have any black friends but that's mainly because I don't know too many that like playing metal on guitar or riding sports bikes. A few black guys that I sometimes have a beer with after work but that's about it. My first girlfriend, when I lived in England was Indian, her parents moved from Lucknow in the 70's. I later moved to the US and married a gal whose mom was born in Taiwan. Fair to say that I have a good chunk of the northern hemisphere covered in my list of dating likes. I'm sure you'll find someway to get bent out of shape that I didn't include most places from the southern hemisphere or your particular demographic. Comedy has one job for me: make me laugh. Bring your life story, views and commentary but leave the politics and BS behind. Billy Connolly, John Cleese and Dave Chapelle are the folks that make me laugh the most and do so with insight and intelligence. Folks that have been around the block a few times and have something interesting to say.
How is he humble. Literally right after giving Chappelle praise he cites himself as being one of the only other people that is at the top and can do things no one else can.
He’s def not humble. He talks in speeches. He can’t just have a conversation. He keeps pausing as if every single thing coming out of his mouth is profound. The rhythms is super annoying. Just talk.
I'm not sure if he wants to I remember hearing something like that while back but if it is gonna happen it will be when joe moves to spotify, hell probably have some massive guests when the switch happens
Did you see that special he just dropped? It wasn't very funny at times, but it was definitely Dave at his rawest, Dave at his most vulnerable, and Dave ready to unleash. Especially on Candace Owens.
When I’m going through tricky times in life, I get onto some DC material, and like the magical, free spirit he is, my spirit is let free. Thank you Dave C, you’re so much to me, and more to millions brother. 🤜🏽💥🤛🏽 #onelove❤
Yeah lol idk why you think there wouldn't be video it's going to be exactly the same just on spotify maybe more ads inbetween if you're not a premium member
I swear to GOD we need you guys more than ever .You people are so important to exposing the evil that walks amongst us. GOD bless and thanks from one of your cousins from the UK
Odd how people bow for this. This is doable for litteraly EVERYBODY. Thats called life. We all sit and collect crap we dont need in a house that we dont own and do it again tomorrow. People arent living, they are consuming. Existing at most

I remember the 1st time I saw Chappelle. Skinny little dude that me laugh. It is amazing to see how far he has gone. And the way he has done it. He is truly the GOAT. Much much respect, May you live many many more years. I cannot wait to see him do his magic again
Watching and listening to two guys at the tops of their games shower some praise on their friend, colleague, and fellow artist is friggin'' beautiful. The social dynamic when those three are hanging out,, off camera and stage, has got to be fascinating. Like...who caps on who more? It can't be a constant respectful schmooze fest, can it? Who is champ smack talker? Without it going too far? That stuff would be 🪙.
