I was thinking about that as well. I'm just thinking why do i believe this guy can smash everyone he says he will in welterweight. His so convincing lol. His got this mysterious aura. If he wins this weekend as easily as his other fights I'll say his easily top 3.
I met a guy in Thailand who wrestled with him in Sweden said he was very dedicated and had no problem wrestling with the biggest guys in there even when he was less skilled then he is now.

Chimaev hasn’t proved himself in the top top tier yet but he does have something in him that 99% of people don’t have. He really enjoys dominating and competing and it’s all natural and fun to him. Hard to beat someone that loves to run into the fire and see what you’re made of.
Khamzat is a beast. I saw him training when I was living in Stockholm, Sweden. I used to go to the same gym. He is a machine. Works tirelessly and obeys his couch so much! Good luck to him. Hard work and determination always bring good results!

From what I learned.... coupled with the fact he was born in a warzone the fact he had to see his mother not eat to save for him... and his mindset which got swithced on that 'all you need to do is smesh somebody and get paid and what can be better in life for one' is imho whatmakes him tick.

Conor may not be smart in many ways but he's a gifted speaker and extremely charismatic which is what made him into the biggest UFC star. This dude doesn't have the speaking skills of a Conor but he used the template that Khabib laid out (mystique, undefeated, smesh) and used it to market himself. That's smart. Guess what Islam is always with Khabib and he didn't even do that infact Khabib himself didn't talk like that until he was champ and was still more humble than this dude. Khamzat knows what sells.

If you pay close enough attention you can tell his English is fine too. He doesn't look puzzled even when reporters speak fast. If anything he's probably underselling his English because guess what that sets you apart from everyone else makes you unique keeps the mystique. I'd say he's pretty smart..

Khamzat is surprising good at interviews. His ability to respond to any question quickly and intelligently is super impressive also considering it’s not his native language .
Think about this: it is his fourth language! He grew up bilingual speaking chechen and russian, then learned swedish and now quickly developing in english. Looks like Shevchenko has got some competition in polyglot division
@@christian_urocar in some other interviews he said that he only started learning english 2 years ago. most of us non-native english speakers started learning english at a young age in school, the fact that this guy started learning in his older years and can already do interviews like this is super impressive.

I heard thru the grapevine that it wasn't only covid that messed him up. He was going thru some extreme depression and anxiety due to various misc issues. He used covid as a cover up. Keep in mind it's just s rumor though.

@OK Well first of all Usman has actually fought in UFC against ranked opponents for years. Khamzat haven't. Anybody decent fighter can look amazing against non ranked opponents. Last year a lone many prospect hype jobs lost when they actually fought resistance. The fact that Khamzat declined fight with Luke "chin" Rockhold speaks volumes.

I always used to feel this guy gave off a more legitimate "tough guy" aura, and holy shit his life experience is on another level from almost anyone. Go read about the First and Second Chechen Wars and realize that was Khamzats life from birth to like 15 years old, dude has got to be completely jaded to violence of any kind. Big respect to him for making his life into what it is now, I'm pulling for him in the UFC!
@Ben Dover exactly. A lot of people dont realize that theres tons of fighters who come out and express only a small portion of their thoughts due to the language barrier. And often times the translators the UFC uses are trash and dont translate correctly. Once these guys do an interview in their native tongue, they express themselves a lot easier and more thoroughly.

Lingling is a tough opponent... but so was Geraldo meetshart. Khamzat really seems to many of us to really just be that good. I personally think he will fight for the title soon and win at 170.
