Sign-off of today's Ion Network station KPXN back when it was the flagship of a three-station network owned by the late W. Eugene Scott's Faith Center church. Among the visuals seen in this one and one-quarter minute sign-off are views of the Faith Center's headquarters in Glendale, the transmitter building and tower atop Sunset Ridge (since relocated to Mount Wilson), and a videotape machine. There's even a plug for KHOF-FM 99.5, the TV station's radio sibling. If there was any patriotic or inspirational film that was shown before or after the sign-off, it was not included in this recording.

As I remember, there was a big ruckus that resulted in Scott and Faith Center losing all the stations. But I did not find out what happened.

It had to do with taxes and licensing fees that the church did not pay, which resulted in the FCC shutting down the station in 1983.

@@dariowiter3078 Ah! Thanks. I remember the TV station going dark. The FM station is now owned by Salem Radio.

@@gidzmobug2323 Dr. Gene Scott claimed that the tax issue was nothing more than a ploy to get him off the air. He ranted and raved about it on the night that his station shut down by order of the FCC.

Yes, exactly! On the evening that the FCC, under orders by the IRS, pulled the plug on KHOF Ch. 30, Dr. Scott went on the air live and went on a verbal rampage, accusing the feds of the stuff that I mentioned previously. He declared that the accusations about the taxes that weren't paid were false, that the church did pay the back taxes in question and that the feds were out to get him because he was a preacher(Dr. Scott was also an attorney). He vowed to fight it in court if need be(if I remember correctly, his rampage on the air sounded like a libertarian tract), but nothing came of it.
