Dumbeldore the events of the songs are different 97 Bonnie and Clyde followed the events after Kim was murdered and Kim was the events before he murdered kim
Critical Thinking I thank you for taking the time to correct the person, but you did get one thing wrong. The other man and boy were left on the living room floor, Kim was the only one in the trunk.
Picture yourself the angriest and most hurt you've ever been then imagine you have Ems skill set, upbringing, and a pen and paper... Like you said his story telling is so good that you felt uncomfortable, like it was real... That's what a good novel can do but Em managed to do it in a 5 min song and it rhymed...
I remember hearing how he actually played the song to her when the Marshall Mathers LP was still in production. According to him, the only thing she said in response was, "You're fucking crazy."
"Kim" is a prequel to "97 Bonnie and Clyde" which was released two years prior on the Slim Shady LP. The latter song is the one referenced in "Stan" not this song. "Stan" was released on the same album as "Kim", so there's no way the fictional character would know about this song. This is part of what makes it so good - 97 Bonnie and Clyde is about him disposing of Kim's body while talking to his daughter and trying to somewhat hide the fact that he killed Kim. This song takes you along for the ride as it (the murder) happened. The fact that this song was made after the other (in which Kim is already dead) allows fans to make the connection. The ending sequence where you hear a body being drug and then put into a trunk is the beginning sequence of 97 Bonnie and Clyde. This is one of the most well-performed and written songs (despite the content being what it is) of all time.
So many people see "Stan" as Eminem's greatest storytelling piece, but for me, it's "Kim". In "Stan", the story takes place over a much longer period, but this one is so much pure & raw emotion, and it all takes place within (maybe) half an hour.
@@Flip.713 Kim is before Stan. Stan, in the song, references Kim. "But I didn't slit her throat, I just tied her up. See? I'm not like you. Cause if she suffocates she'll suffer more and then she'll die too"
Wanna know something even more twisted that will change your perception of the song? It's actually a love song. He wrote about it in the book "Angry Blonde." I would try to tell the story but Wikipedia puts it best: "According to the book Angry Blonde, "Kim" was the first official song that Eminem wrote for the Marshall Mathers LP album. He and Kim were not in a relationship at the time when he wrote the song. He was inspired to write a "love song" while out watching a movie. At the time, he was feeling the frustration of breaking up and having a daughter with Kim. He said he really wanted to "pour [his] heart out, but yet, [he] also wanted to scream". When he started writing the song, he thought about tying it into "'97 Bonnie & Clyde", and decided to make "Kim" a prequel to that song. He did the vocals for "Kim" in one take. The mood he wanted to capture was that of an argument that he and she would have had. When Eminem and Kim started talking again, he played this song to her and asked her to tell him what she thought about it. Eminem also said to her: "I know this is a fucked-up song, but it shows how much I care about you. To even think about you this much. To even put you on a song like this". "Kim" was also the only track on the album that Eminem had nothing to do with in terms of production." That's why I was one who preferred u wait bc it is a deeply personal and twisted song. It can change your perception of him (good or bad). Growing up listening to him since the beginning this song made sense bc of our knowledge of his relationship with Kim through his music and news, interviews, etc...so when this song dropped, it was an instant hit with his fans bc they understood why he wrote it. It made it more clear once we discover the story surrounding it. It also gave us a look at how twisted his mind can get. But music is his therapy so this is as far as it goes (minus the fights and arguments). Good reaction. React to No apologies lyric video next!
i was a strict metalhead growing up... til i was in music therapy as a teenager, this song, and the marilyn manson remix of 'The Way I Am' got me into him.
It wasn't the song Kim. It was "Kill You" and Kim mistook it for the song "Kim" and went home and tried to kill herself because before the show Eminem promised her he would not play it and she was distraught that he did. But he really didn't and it was a misunderstanding.
@@purplegorilla9592 If Em promised her he would not play the Kim song, which she mistook the "Kill You" song to be it, then she must've obviously heard "Kim" prior to that live performance. And if so, how the fuck could she ever mistake "Kill You" for "Kim", lmao.
It's the song Kim and then the continue is 97' Bonnie and Clyde. You need to listen to it too. Greetings from Switzerland you guys doing a great job. I love your reaction keep going :)
@@mrtibbz10 there's just no way that it was one take. Dont bullshit me stans . The voices overlap so at the very least it was two takes which is quite doubtful
@@henrychinaski5938 dumb. He layered the vocals obviously but the verses he did in one take and then mastered the full track. Not that hard to believe.
I live in Detroit and Kim and Em were always on the news! Kim was on the news a few years ago for violating the terms of her probation. Those 2 should never, ever be together again!
they're not real metal heads, they are backwards hicks who think any song with a guitar in it is heavy metal. They bug the absolute shit outta me, bunch a posers.
It's funny because people don't realize that metal and hip hop music are pretty much really similar to each other. If you like metal you can find hip hop music to like as well and I would say the same if you like hip hop you would like metal too if you did some digging
That wasn’t a reference to Stan, Stan was a reference to the this “that’s my girlfriend screaming in the trunk, but I ain’t slit her throat see I ain’t like you”
I’ll start my comment by saying that yes, he has done this live. There also rumours that he invited Kim to a concert, promised he wouldn’t play it, then did specifically for her. Now, just like most reactions, people are pretty off base about what this song actually is. It’s genius. It’s a masterful piece of auditory art. There’s so many levels to what makes this such an intensely good piece of art. For starters, it’s a story in real time. A first person, real time story. Almost like a movie in song form. I could be mistaken, but I don’t know of any other artist that has done this. Most stories in songs are told in past tense. Moving along, the obvious bit...the emotion. There’s isn’t a music artist alive who could put forth this kind of emotion. Quite frankly, I don’t think that there’s many actors capable of emoting on this level, simply because this is Eminem’s story. It’s personal. He didn’t have to do character study or anything like that. This was his real emotion. Now we get into the actual story and progression (Or regression) of his state of mind. As the song goes on, we see his rationality deteriorating from an already violently irrational place. He thinks it makes sense that Kim killed her husband and kid in a fight, then spit her own throat. Any detective who finds three bodies with their throats slit, and no suicide note, isn’t going to assume suicide. The immediate assumption would be triple homicide, likely by the scorned lover who’s relationship with the victim was historically violent and tumultuous. Further proof of just how irrational he’s become, is when he tries to disassociate with the situation, by going back to happy memories...”remember the time we went to Brian’s party?/ and you were like so drunk that you threw up all over Archie?/ More to the seamless ness of the song...it’s almost like you forget that he’s actually rhyming. But he is...very well. Doing what he does best, using clever wording to perfectly suit the moment. Nobody does this better. He finds the most perfect wording to describe something, and somehow makes it all rhyme together. Oh, and let’s not forget that that’s him doing Kim’s voice, as well. Honestly, people hear this song and recoil. But I’ve listened to it at least once a week for the last nearly 20 years. I’m still picking up on things I didn’t notice. It’s such a masterfully crafted piece of music. I understand that the content isn’t for everyone. But as an artist, myself, I can’t help but listen to this in awe, even after nearly 20 years.
I listened to this song when i was 14, yeah his emotions in this track are dark and raw in your face!. And still to this day no matter how Eminem has changed, this song will always stand out as Eminem´s hardest track. I like Criminal too.
The catatonic expression on both their faces expresses all the feeling you need to know about this bit - and why this bit is genius. Holy crap the emotions it spawns. Em is *the* goat.
Twisted Truth yeah course she was in the audience with family and friends that night. There used to be a video of that performance years ago on the internet but it seems like it disappeared forever
So, this song first was meant to be a love song. But he started writing and this is what came out. I think he said in an interview that all the frustration of being abused just came out. As far as I've read about them two, she used to torment him, psychologically mainly, but there were even some physical moments. He kicked everyone out of the studio when recording it. And yes, she declared that this song made her want to commit suicide after he performed it on stage.
This is more than a song, it's a masterpiece. Who else can paint such a vivid picture of the battles of love and hate in song form like this? This is pure raw heartbreak, this is his pain and release in words. Yes this is a very powerful and violent song but it's also an amazing song.
I wish we got more ambitious and experimental tracks like this in the modern rap era. Obviously, this isn’t a bop to roll your windows down and sing along to, but this is what the best art is, an expression of incredibly dark things that we all have inside of us (to some extent).
HA-LARIOUS lol. This one of my fav songs. She was more than mad she tried to kill herself. Definitely hypes up the audience. This is a classic. Know your material. If it makes you feel better he goes on to have custody of their kid, also Kim's twin sisters kid AND Kim's kid from another marriage. #GOAT
He invited her and her friends to a open tour concert the first song he did was this with her and and her friends front row! She bawled her eyes out and left she said it in a interview
"GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME, don't touch me, I HATE YOU, I HaTe yOu, i swear to got i hate you....omg i love you" was pure emotion, this song is evidence that true strong hatred stems form love
He actually said he wouldn’t do this live but during a concert in detroit with Kim in the audience he did it live which led to her trying to commit suicide
@@EpickaNESSiskool he doesn’t do it live anymore just like cleaning out my closet but yes he did with Kim there after promising he wouldn’t and she left and slit her wrist fuck you mean wrong
He performed this live in Detroit with Kim the crowd and left to cut her wrists…..😮😮😮😮. other songs I associate with this Music Box, Amyityville, and Buffalo Bill would be great songs to listen too.
its one of those songs you either understand the ethos and feeling behind it or you take it at face value. The whole song is a love song told from the perspective of somone who has a attatchment to somone who FEELS betrayed by them but in reality as he points out in the song he cheated first so its not justification to kill her. Its just a pure expression of 'love' for someone the moment they do something to hurt you. As the song progresses he realises what hes doing but doubles down because he is manic and jealous. Also this song along with other songs hes produced that kinda follow the story so Stan and 67' Bonnie n Clyde and also you have my darling which is when hes fighting relapsing and the whole song is a double for kim and drug addiction.
No its a reference to a song on gis previous album, called 97 Bonnie and Clyde, where eminem and his daughter r taking kim, her new husband and step son to the docks to dispatch of their dead boddies. Its a great story telling track, u should react to it. Kim and Stan were on the same album.
Lyrics: Aww, look at daddy's baby girl That's daddy's baby, little sleepy head Yesterday I changed your diaper, wiped you and powdered you How did you get so big? Can't believe it, now you're two Baby you're so precious, daddy's so proud of you Sit down bitch! You move again I'll beat the shit out of you! (Okay) Don't make me wake this baby! She don't need to see what I'm 'bout to do! Quit crying, bitch! Why do you always make me shout at you?! How could you just leave me and love him out the blue?! Oh, what's the matter Kim, am I too loud for you?! Too bad, bitch! You're gonna finally hear me out this time! At first, I'm like: "Aight, you wanna throw me out; that's fine!" But not for him to take my place! Are you out your mind?! This couch, this TV, this whole house is mine! How could you let him sleep in our bed?! Look it, Kim! Look at your husband now! (No!) I said, look at him! He ain't so hot now, is he, little punk?! (Why are you doing this?!) Shut the fuck up! (You're drunk! You're never gonna get away with this!) You think I give a fuck?! Come on! We're going for a ride, bitch! (No!) Sit up front! (We can't just leave Hailie alone! What if she wakes up?) We'll be right back; well, I will: you'll be in the trunk! So long, bitch you did me so wrong I don't wanna go on, living in this world without you You really fucked me Kim! You really did a number on me! Never knew me cheatin' on you would come back to haunt me But we was kids then, Kim! I was only eighteen That was years ago! I thought we wiped the slate clean That's fucked up! (I love you!) Oh God, my brain is racing (I love you!) What are you doing? Change the station! I hate this song! Does this look like a big joke? (No!) There's a year-old little laying dead with a slit throat In your living room! Ha-ha! What, you think I'm kidding you?! You loved him didn't you? (No!) Bullshit, you bitch! Don't fucking lie to me! What the fuck's this guy's problem on the side of me? Fuck you asshole! Yeah, bite me! Kim, Kim! Why don't you like me? You think I'm ugly, don't you? (It's not that!) No, you think I'm ugly (Baby) Get the fuck away from me! Don't touch me! I hate you! I hate you! I swear to God, I hate you! Oh my God, I love you! How the fuck could you do this to me?! (I'm sorry!) How the fuck could you do this to me?! So long, bitch you did me so wrong I don't wanna go on, living in this world without you Come on, get out! (I can't! I'm scared!) I said get out, bitch! (Let go of my hair!) (Please don't do this, baby! Please! I love you!) (Look, we can just take Hailie and leave!) Fuck you! You did this to us! You did it! it's your fault! Oh my God, I'm cracking up, get a grip Marshall! Hey, remember the time we went to Brian's party And you were, like, so drunk that you threw up all over Archie? That was funny, wasn't it? (Yes) That was funny, wasn't it?! (Yes!) See, it all makes sense, doesn't it? You and your husband have a fight One of you tries to grab a knife, and during the struggle He accidentally gets his Adam's apple sliced! (No!) And while this is going on, his son just woke up and he walks in She panics and he gets his throat cut! (Oh my God!) So now they both dead, and you slash your own throat So now it's double homicide and suicide with no note! I should've known better when you started to act weird We coulda... hey, where you going? Get back here! You can't run from me Kim! It's just us, nobody else! You're only making this harder on yourself! Ha-ha, got ya! Go ahead, yell! Here, I'll scream with you! "Ah, somebody help!" Don't you get it bitch? No one can hear you! Now shut the fuck up and get what's coming to you! You were supposed to love me!! Now bleed bitch, bleed!! Bleed bitch, bleed!! Bleed!! So long, bitch you did me so wrong I don't wanna go on, living in this world without you So long, bitch you did me so wrong I don't wanna go on, living in this world without you
This is the most honest reaction out of many that I have watched in my opinion of course but I liked it and wouldn’t ya know the best reaction would be from metal heads like myself ...you got a new subscriber and like 🤘😎🤘 *Sidenote* I’m a metal guitarist and no I don’t have a RU-vid following or any really good videos but I was thinking of doing a metal guitar version to this song Kim..i think it would sound awesome with some metal guitar riffs and lead licks here and there..should I give it a try and metal it up a bit?..serious question
He did this live when they got back together and she was at the concert and it started with him throwing a blow up doll into the audience! She left lol
*Just think about it for a second...this “KIM” song actually happened in reality in another dimension outside of the one that we exist in at this moment in time but time really doesn’t exist but it does..we don’t exist but we do..🤯*
One: Kim sued him over this, if I’m not mistaken. Two: he did perform the song live in 2000 and, not only that, but he mitigated a doll that looked like her during the song.
Yes he did it in concert.. He kept it under wraps until he did his first big concert in Detroit. And Kim paid for a ticket and was at the venue when he unveiled it and everyone in the crowd had their jaws drop.. And Kim went in the restroom and slit her wrists... He talked about it in an interview with him and Dre.
The thing I love about this song, cleaning out my closet and stan is that it's the same chorus but with every verse the chorus gets a lil darker and more meaningful.
He did this song live and Kim was in the audience and all the fans started singing along with it and Kim went home and slit her wrists. I love em but this song is crazy but I art
I know this is old...but kim went to his show and told him not to perform KIM and he said he wouldnt. Not only did he perform it, he threw a blow up doll that looked like her into the crowd. Story goes she left and tried unaliving herself...
No kidding, in early 2000 when I haven't seen 8 Mile yet and I heard he won an Oscar, I thought this is the song he won an Oscar for, I thought it was part of the movie and I also thought he won somekind of an Acting Award for this one lol
