Great video, I’ve been point shooting for 40 years. You will never use you sights when the threat is closing in on you at self defense distances. If you have the time and presence of mind to use you sights, you probably don’t need to be shooting.

I'm in a wheelchair 24/7 and this video on point of aim really helped. I actually have practiced point of aim from my hip area and it works pretty good, thnx.

Fairbain and Sykes would be proud of your work on the range there. They actually trained their cops to point shoot all the way out to almost 10 yards.

I always have to watch something from y'all's channel every day. Kim, you are doing great and making such progress because your husband is a gifted instructor. You are shooting almost as well as MixUp98 does on his channel. :)

If you have to defend yourself from a threat, i believe you will end up point shooting.Your muscle memory will take over, and you will bring the front sight up and instinctively you'll have the sight on the target.I like to dry fire practice with my eyes closed as well.When i open them, i'm usually on target or slightly off.

I enjoyed the lesson "point shooting". it was good to see the adaptibility to be able to pull your weapon and shoot. To be able to hit the target in a defined area is even better. This is something my wife and I will practice. we enjoy your lessons and hope to visit your training camp this next year. Thanks for safe training tips.

Good video! Hey Neal (Neil?). Could you do a video on how hard to grip the pistol...comparing strong hand versus support hand? I've heard and read a lot on this subject...and, at the end of the day, it doesn't seem very clear to me. I've shot for a very long time...and am comfortable with how I grip the pistol...but I've also never stopped learning and improving...and maybe your video could fine tune what I already do.

I 've been teaching this type of shooting to my family for years. I call it cowboy shooting. In a real time self defense you will never have time to find that sight. I feel if our LEO 'S would train this way less would die and not have all the missed shots we see.

Tricorn Tom XDM 3.8 Subcompact and M&P 2.0 compact for Neil and I use the XDS and Mod 2. I like the XDS because I shoot it well. And the size is one of smallest 9mm I feel confident shooting without it being snappy. Thanks for asking -Kim

Thank you. I'm going for my CC license right now in Massachusetts and am leaning toward the M&P 2.0. I like how it feels in my hand vs Glock (which has a "hump" in the grip) and I also shoot with a Smith/Wesson 22 pistol, about the same size. I try to buy American when I can, and Smith Wesson is still made here in Massachusetts (we make great guns but have very bad anti-gun laws, unfortunately).

As always a very informative video, and your wife does a great job of demonstrating what you are trying to convey, but watching her draw from the five o'clock position confirms completely that the one o'clock position is much quicker and more controllable. I am 65 years old, and it took me a while to switch to appendix carry, but I have, and feel much safer carrying my gun there. Do a draw test with your wife at both positions, and after she gets used to the new pull from in front of her, I know that her speed and accuracy will be even better than it is now. Logic is hard to argue with. I bet within the year, you both will be carrying in the appendix position!
@geaugafirearmsacademy
@geaugafirearmsacademy 8 лет назад
Ken Day Ken I've been carrying for 14+ years and I've carried appendix, which is why I have chosen 5 o'clock. Thanks for the suggestion and for watching.

I cringed at the beginning when she went 'load and make ready: the barrel of the gun went all left and high. Why? If you are in a crowd, when there is pêople left of you? Just keep that barrel pointed forward when you rack the slide.
