I just watched Oscar Liang video right before watching this one and he's getting almost 30 minute flight times on a 4S 18650 pack. Seems like the perfect grab and go compact explorer, or as I like to call it aerial sight seeing. I'm mostly an analog guy, I need the low latency but for "aerial sight seeing digital is the way to go". I may have to pick this one up despite the fact that I don't need any more quads lol.

Always a thumbs up from me man. I like this quad. You will never hear my girlfriend say this but I think 4 inch is going to be the way to go over 5 inch quads esp with the 250 limit for unlicensed flyers.

I would like to see a competition where there's a set list of features such as digital video, RTH, and less than 250 g using the same battery specification. The goal would be flight time and distance. I think this product could be as popular as the concept of Kabab's toothpick. I'm not good at freestyle or racing but I would definitely like to be able to see things and go places but not have the government breath down my neck.

I think this is just the first of this kind in this category. I think there are a lot more people who just want to fly versus doing flippy floppies or racing gates. In my estimation, the "competition" aspects of FPV is only about 5% of the potential market for FPV and these companies are starting to tap into that.

I was just thinking of a newer type of fpv racingat least new to me, I dont know if it's been done. Kind of like a waypoint style race that's 8-10 minutes long, a real test of speed and efficiency and range. Couple mile long snaking track through the face of a mountain or rolling hills in nebraska, or through a forest in russia. Start at 1 point, and end at the other, no laps. Go too hard on throttle and your battery will die before the end, go to slow and well...ya know. Kind of like the baja 1000 for fpv. Set weight limits separated into classes, battery size limits per weight class and any other rules to keep it fair, but still allow a range of different build styles to fly in any one certain class. If anyone else thinks this is cool, and lives in Florida, I'd like to set something up like this and find somewhere to do it.

We dont need return to home but rather position hold which should up the power so you get control back and then you can fly back closer to your position. Return to home will just end you up in a tree limb. No one has built one the right way yet, I guess I need to take the challenge on.

with the analog version, i got 18:35min flight on a GNB 1100 4s hv. 6miles round trip. probally could have gotten 20min if i slowed down, or if it was less windy, or if i just hovered infornt of myself for the last minute.

Yeah, the video is from the DJI goggle DVR. There is no onboard recording for Vista. My goggles are completely stock. If you're not getting good range, try reflashing all the firmware and also doing a reset to default settings and that usually clears up the problems.

I don't have the V2 but I think it's mostly the same. I think I used the4S 650 to 850 for this quad and that felt pretty good with the PID tune out of the box.

I guess you have to decide at what point you move from a quad to a wing. This is super cool but a wing is so much more aerodynamically efficient (and quieter). Wings have a bigger minimum size (I dunno about carrying a 3-foot drone around), but also crash much better :)

I'm fairly certain the FC supports DSMX receivers but I have no way to test that scenario. I own no DMSX equipment. It should have the same range as anything else out there flying on Vista. I think the max is 10km?

Kind of a loaded question. It will work with almost everything out there with the right receiver setup. I was flying mine with the Jumper T12 Pro and Crossfire Micro TX module.

I'm pretty sure that all things being equal, you'll be able to have better control reception with crossfire, but ultimately it doesn't matter because there is a hard 10 mile limit with DJI that no one can get beyond for video. On 1.3ghz analog video, guys can go much farther on crossfire. I don't have the equipment to test this kind of range so you won't see it on my channel.

Hey Albert, did you fly with your DJI remote? (not crossfire) Like to see a test with a naked GoPro too. (4k quality)...maybe under sling a larger battery to allow for the GoPro on top? Flywoo advertises a naked GoPro setup on their website.

I flew with Crossfire since it came with the Crossfire receiver wired up. Don't worry there will be future videos but I need to clear out other videos first.

@@AlbertKimTV Busy! That's good. Yeah, like to see some distance and timed flights in future with a naked GoPro...even using the DJI remote...maybe comparing the stats with the crossfire. I don't have an analogue RC but if the flight times were substantially longer and the distances farther, I might consider investing in one!

Hello, thank you for the review... I have a question regarding GPS Rescue. At 5:30 in your video, I see your switch indicator is inside the "GPS RESCUE" brackets, however the GPS RESCUE box (AUX 4) is not illuminated. Such as when you configure other switches like ARM, BEEPER, etc., those turn yellow when activated inside the brackets. I've been battling this for a couple weeks now. I have everything configured just like you do in Betaflight, it locks up on 15 or 16 GPS satellites, Failsafe is properly set up, craft flies great... however I just can't get my GPS Rescue box to illuminate. But now after noticing this in yours, I'm wondering if it's supposed to? Thanks! Any advice or information on this is greatly appreciated! By the way, I'm flying a TBS nano receiver, and I was not getting good satellite lock. Only could get maybe 8 or 9. But would take 5 minutes, if I was lucky. I have a RunCam Nano 2 (not the Tarsier). What I did was move the GPS module to the top of the battery. Kept the wires away from onboard components. Mounting the GPS module on top also allowed me to shorten the four wires to the GPS module. Now when I go outside and power it up, I get 15 or 16 satellites in less than 2 minutes. In the stock configuration with the GPS module mounted in the aft end, I believe the wires to the GPS module are too close in proximity to the VTX. That't the only thing I believe it can be. And in addition, shortening the wires probably minimizes picking up interference from on-board components. Thanks again! Looking forward to (hopefully) hearing that I may have had the GPS Rescue config. correct all along and that the GPS Rescue doesn't illuminate.

AFAIK, the illumination is only on the arm switch. I've never seen it on any other switches. The GPS unit on this quad is sensitive to other RF noise so moving it away from other noise was the right thing to do as you have discovered.

Thank you Albert! I was just wondering because when I'm hooked up to Betaflight and flip my "Beeper" switch on my transmitter, the Beeper Box illuminates, like the Arm and even my Failsafe switch. The GPS Rescue is the only one I've not been able to get to illuminate.

looks cool and great spec ! nice video , its twisted my arm to get one, except i fly with Ibus/flysky RX , would it take one of these ? or.. i use Jumper T8 handset, but am unsure if could link it to any long range Receiver thats included, anyone tell me whats best to do please ?

For long range you really want to go with Crossfire. However, if you musy fly with Flysky/iBUS, then you can certainly wire it up to the FC. The FC is similar to most other FC's out there so just about any Flysky receiver installation tutorial will be about the same. Just get the wiring diagram from the Flywoo website and you're good to go.

Although I find the Fli10 receiver very decent and get about 1km with it, though compared to crossfire is minimal, and with flight times like this flywoo it's an injustice .. love the DJI goggles , all change at the mo ! 3:20 is that a right hand polarized antenna? I hope not, since all the other DJI stuff is LHCP. But yeah, this has been intriguing me ever since Dave C first posted about it... will almost certainly be picking one up. Thanks for a great review.

It's RHCP but seems to work just fine anyway. I assumed just like your comment that there would be problems but the DJI FPV system is so damn good it doesn't care.

I’m confused. Why does it have a GOKU F411 Micro Stack that contains a VTX625 when it’s also got a Caddx Vista HD System on it. Does that mean this does analog and digital video? I’ve got DJI goggles and controller on order and assuming the explorer lr will be bind and fly without the need for anything else. If this is true wouldn’t it make since to not include the VTX625?

This has the stack WITHOUT the vtx. They sell the stack both with and without the VTX. I think if you get the analog version it will come with that VTX. Since this is the DJI version, that VTX is pointless on this build.

Is MSP enabled for the UART the Vista is on? If not, you might have an updated version of the FC that is different from mine.

Toying with getting this as my 1st fpv setup with the full dji kit from the website probably with the naked gopro they sell as well. You say that it's not really built for acro, but will it really mess anything up doing it anyway? Or should I just go buy the hd bnf 5in from Rotor Riot? I have some simulator time in, but I'm sure the translation to real life is a massive difference.

You can acro this for sure, but there are so many other kwads that can do acro better. If you're primarily doing acro, I would choose something else. If you want this mainly for long flight times with some acro on the side, this kwad would be perfect.

@@AlbertKimTV That's exactly what I'm wanting. Long flight times with the occasional flip or dive. Not trying to go all LeDrib or Steele at the moment. I want a drone that I can really practice with and not have to worry about changing batteries every 5 min. Maybe I'll pick the whole setup from their site for a Christmas Present to myself or something. The even have a naked gopro with the required mount ready to go on their site.

Has anyone demonstrated 30 minute flights because it seems completely unrealistic on a 4s li-ion. That's the sort of times you'll get with a wing so I can't see a quad pulling

Might be possible but there's not much space up there for the battery so you'll probably have to move the battery to the bottom... Also, you'll need to come up with a way to mount the Session.

This is the first drone Ive had with gps, i can’t seem to get my gps rescue mode tab to turn yellow when I hit my switch. All other switches are working properly, am I missing something?

Albert Kim I did, but I recalled you rewired a drone (to use the DJI radio, think it was the Titan. Not used if you used the same approach here). I noticed everyone who's reviewed this drone online has used the crossfire. Guess dji not good enough for the drone capacity?

I did not change the factory tune but they are now selling V3 of this model with all new parts so you'll have to ask them what the best tune is for whatever version you have.

R9MM will have more range but getting the R9 system to work properly is challenging. I'm not sure what other equipment you have but I would try something else like Crossfire or ExpressLRS if you need reliable range. The XM+ will work for 1km or less range but is not as reliable.

The analog version with Frsky receiver is. You can also add Frsky receiver to the DJI version but it's not really long range anymore.

Has anyone else had trouble with shipping from the company? I ordered this over a week ago heard nothing then i emailed them only for them to say they can not ship with the batteries I ordered, that if I want it shipped I have to pay extra for shipping. It took me emailing them to tell me this , and there was nothing saying that when I ordered it online. Then they say they have so many orders they cant keep up, I'm not too happy with this company.

Yes, I had the exact same problem. I bought the Apex 5 steele quad with 8 × 6S lipos from the getfpv.com version. Getfpv: We can't send the lipos !! But I got everything, including the lipos 👍

You would not happen to know where I can get the CLI Dump for the ORIGINAL Explorer analog ? Flywoo only provides the V2 version and I can not find one anywhere. As such my Explorer is not usable. Thanks

I guess you didn't see it in the description? Search for "factory settings". FYI, make sure you check motor temps with those settings. I've heard there's 3 different V1s and 6 different V2 settings. I don't know if the one I got works with your hardware. YMMV.
