So my new part 2 "perfect duel" is out, if you like this one be sure to check the other one out as well. I'm using a shortsword there and managed to do all 4 shortsword combos. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lXMHBXOKsWc.html
No matter how hard I try, those damn combos NEVER work on me. I unlocked the training ffrom Benny ( Bernard ) , I tried different weapon style, short sword w/o shield, long sword ,maces but to no avail. I simply can't do any combo whatsoever, the outcome are always the same, either the enemy is badly armed and dies from 1 or 2 random hits, can't even follow up sometimes and they die, or the opponent parry's and blocks every single attack I throw and uses riposte ,dodges or whatever. I am not using combat altering mods, I also have the combos unlocked and I tried to follow the patters of a few, and yes I used the right weapon, but nothing ever works... I keep seeing these awesome videos with PROPER fights but to me it's just very bad and always repetitive, always the same shit... I also found out a nasty trick to kill most if not all enemies, you simply move into them, perform a clinch and press attack button fast and you push them away, they are staggered a bit so I just follow up with a nasty hit to the helmet or head and they take alot of damage, especially if I use a Mace.
@@arashnayeb6106 i5-6600k, GTX 1070, 16gb Ram, ssd Samsung Evo 850 500gb, outside of cities and villages it runs great, but as soon as I go in a city there are nasty fps drops
@@doneflounder7086 you'll just randomly run into him at a random time and a random place. Theres no real way to "find" him. You'll just eventually run into him.
@@doneflounder7086 oh really? What the hell. I found the guy super early in the game and he kicked my ass and I found him again at a higher level and just barely beat him. Like the guy in this comment. That's strange that you never saw him. Do you do a lot of fast travel?
I fought him, but he beat me... so I quickly drank a bunch of potions and knocked him over the head with my sword. Ended up letting him leave without his sword.
if you need good armor go back to skallitzs, there are knights, gaurds merchants, and the eastern barbarians (i dont remember the name) you can farm i, very lucrative
A lot of people don't understand that you need to get weapons training from Bernard in Rattay. I think a lot of people miss that and end up stuck with the awkward hit and run combat and never learn to parry or riposte.
What I meant by hit and run combat is people never learn to parry, backstep or combo because they didn't do extra training with Bernard and Robard. If you don't learn to parry or backstep then you really are stuck with hitting an enemy then back away or blocking for the rest of the game. A lot of youtubers who complain about the games combat system are either too early in the game before the training or just missed it entirely which means they will never have fun combat lmao
It make sense, think in real life. 1 vs 3 or 4 or 5 people... You have no chance to win. In the game if you are high level and got skills you can, but in real life not.
Don't do that "in real life" crap, the combat system is simply bad for group combat. Your reticle is locked on one target only and it's slow to switch between them
I’ve never seen a game realistically model combat against multiple people without turning you into a god. Skyrim for instance you can wipe out 25 enemies at once and not break a sweat. In KC:D, fighting 1-2 people involves a lot of legwork and a lot of short aggressive attack bursts into openings. That’s fairly realistic.
Jeff B Mount & Blade Warband multiplayer did that PERFECTLY. If you had got enough skills in the game you could 1v5 (in PvP ofc) and such numbers easily.
The one thing I really love about this game is how enemy's deteriorate. At first they're fresh and very fast with reaction, but blow after blow they come to a slow down. Eventually a pig in the mud ready to die.
well these combos are made to pull of plus they make little damage since most of teh time you only hit him with the last hit from the combo but they look very nice and thats enough :D
Well it depends of your level, how you start the combo, how well versed you're in using the specific weapon and how armoured your opponent is. I'm uploading a video now, showing different ways to begin a combo and with some of them you have a guaranteed first hit, if all goes well!
Haha no i didn't. I still believe the combat system got some serious flaws overall, but i never thought i was a bad system AS A WHOLE. Keep these videos coming.
@@meisterproper9676 if you are willing to practice, then yes. you don´t start out as an allmighty entity, you´re a nobody, you need to learn and practice
This game is actually so realistic in combats even hits are marked on the armor : Have you guys noticed that the Knight's helm didnt had a scratch at 1:35, then he hit him in the head at 1:45, afer, you can see the slash on the helm : 1:50
Some people swoon over Elden Ring or some other game with swords twice the size of your character that's roll-dodging all over the place with spiky plate armour. I on the other hand, drop my jaw when I see the combat in this game. So realistic, so beautiful, all the blocking and parrying. No oversized weapons, no ridiculous rolling with plate armour, no horns or spikes. Perfection.
@@GlarusGaming And I have no doubt that ER is a good game, but whenever I see a game with oversized weapons or overly-agile heavy-armour-wearing characters, I get put off. KCD looks realistic, feels realistic and plays realistic. I just like to see blades clash, instead of rolling constantly like Sonic.
I wouldn't call it realistic, just plausible. If you used your sword to parry like they show in the video, it would be blunted to hell and back and practically useless, if not broken. Knights didn't fight like that. But at least it makes 'sense', unlike those other examples you mentioned
plays.tv/video/5a95c36da70ee43367/headshots-do-not-kill-instantly That was first hour of gameplay so my skills weren't good at all (neither the character's) but a headshot is a fucking headshot.
Again, I have to disagree. Anyway, it wasn't just ONE arrow, watch the video again and you'll see that I hit that guy at least THREE times in the face. Even if I don't kill kim or pierce his skull, his eyes and face would be completely destroyed.
Be aware that many hours went into him fighting like that. 'tis nothing you can do from the get go. Awesome fight this, first yt video ive seen where the dude fighting actually knows how to do it. shame you did get no perfect defenses though. that would have ended it even quicker
How's performance? I have a laptop, 8th Gen i5, GTX 1050 Max-Q. Not planning on getting this yet, but with my historical interests I definitely will at some point.
mid game you have nice duels, then you become a monster of str who breaks the arms of anything daring to block your attacks. i have fun playing anyways but it ressembles m&b now with 1v6 battles at every bandit camp.
Or if you play in console like me, get a weaker weapon intentionally. I use a bardiche now _because_ it sucks. Using a bad weapon with high skills and strength makes it a better fight.
God I remember playing this game and finding out hours later how to do those parry attack moves which made my experience thousands of times better. I love this game
it helps alot obviously if you are really skilled at fighting then yeah its easy but if you have 3-4 enemies attacking your plate armour with a sword its going to less damage then a mace for example after progressing ive found Cumans are easy compared to brigands but my set up ive got Nuremberg armour with German bacinet, Heavy battle axe and shield and its quite easy plus i don't use a bow either
For all people wandering:he dead? No. But it can happen. I was duelling the other knight (the coward) and just hit him once or twice over the shoulders. I thought the fight has just began... i tried stabing to his face. The idiot didnt block and had open face helmet... he collapsed in a brush and after a few seconds he was dead... so a duel with deadly weapons can be deadly, even if you there was no intention to kill. I didnt get the price and felt bad for killing the guy... but hey, thats part of it. Both agreed on using sharp bladed... just makes the game feel like the real deal even more:D
Excellent video. This combat was very instructive, and gives the lie to the complaints that it's clunky. Perhaps it is in the beginning, but you've shown that, with the skills gained through time, it becomes precise. Thanks for uploading. EDIT: I finally have the game and I love it. Just trained with Bernard and learned Master Strike and Riposte. I absolutely love the combat. Except, however, when my opponents die and fold in half like a flour tortilla.
the developers even said that combat early in the game isnt meant for henry. seeing as henry doesnt know how to properly use a sword, why would he know how to just because youre controlling him. therefore, in the beginning, combat is difficult due to that reason, as you progress and henry starts training, he gets more proficient in combat and thus, swordfighting becomes easier.
They start your character off at such an uneducated point in the game, first timers won't realize they are straight up missing perks that unlock more advanced combat mechanics. Which I think is where the 'clunky' complaints come from. All of the systems in the game take a bit of learning (Watch a youtube video if you're really unsure) but once you see how things work, it gets a whole lot easier, Lockpicking being a huge example (atleast on PC). I was so pissed at this game up until Bronard started teaching Henry how to fight. Only problem is, once you get to the high end, sometimes bandits will kill themselves attacking you. I've blocked an attack, with no kind of counter, and had bandits just ragdoll instantly. Cumans too, lol.
*Gibblets* I thought I was the only 1 with that bug. I’ve missed parries and got the regular block and had dudes just fall down dead and it’s not even the normal ragdoll.. it’s like a Bloodborne ragdoll where the body is hella loose with no weight lol
When doing a run-through, when you knocked them to the ground, back up and give them space to charge at you, then repost and jam the sword to their chest.
During my second play through of the game on hardcore, I found him and accepted the friendly duel but I completely forgot I still had some bane poison on my blade from a previous attack on a bandit camp and I accidentally killed him. I felt so bad about it I didn't even loot his corpse. I just picked up his dropped sword, added it back to his inventory then carried him off the road like I was hiding the body and my shame.
I was so frustrated at this game in my first playthrough that i uninstalled it because I didnt know that timed quest was a thing in this game and it actually mattered how much time you spent doing a quest. It was very overwhelming for me. I didn't play a game like this before. I kept failing quests like house of God, The prey, etc. And i also didn't want to start a new game because I would lose my hours of gameplay. But after playing some other games, i suddenly started to get urges of riding horses, perform master strikes, play everything from the beginning in the right way. So i installed it again and i am telling you now that this game is my new favorite(except RDR2 of course. This game will always be on the top of my top 10 list. ) Edit: Also if any of the players can relate to me and still haven't reinstalled the game, it's my sincere request to them that they reinstall the game and start a new fresh playthrough. And that not all. There is also a tip that i would like to pass onto you. Whenever you are doing side quests, you have to make sure to never do multiple side quests at the same time because as I said before timed quests are a thing so you can fail some quests. It's not skyrim so dont bother picking up multiple side quests at the same time. It will only increase your frustration and thus you will lose your interest playing this game. Also make sure to check the bugs section of every mission that you are currently playing in the kcd wiki website. And also if you are using a trainer (Don't worry I will not judge you for using a trainer) or a mod to increase your reputation, stop using it now as it will be impossible to complete the main quest "Baptism of Fire".
I was doing my pilgrimage journey, barefoot, wearing only my penitents robe for the Madonna of Sasau quest, and this guy appeared right next to one of the Shrines. Of course I fought him, wearing only the robe and bearing my St. Georges sword, like a Jedi Knight. God willed it, and I prevailed easily with a couple of master-strikes.
Damn you owned that dude and for the second time apparently. I’m looking forward to getting to grips with this game soon. I hope I’m half as handy with a sword as you.
During fights i just go for clinch then strike. Sometimes a combo gets thrown in there, but very rarely. Get them backing to a wall or a corner so the distance after the clinch does not increase.
These are not comparable. It's built around PvP, KCD's combat system ist built for PvE. That's why are there are combos in KCD. In For Honor it would be very frustrating to know that the other player has a guaranteed hit.
It won't be too long when the next patch rolls in and just on time, I'm getting a GPU upgrade from 780 Ti to 1070 Ti. Won't be long til I start playing this game
Well I’ve encountered a shit ton of bugs, from the floating one to complete audio and texture loss to not being able to interact with anyone. Saying there’s “quite a few” is a bit of an underestimation but most should be sorted with the next patch.
Tzeentch the bugs are really annoying, i have had cutscenes where the subtitle shows but not the video, cAn’t talk to characters, quest not updating itself, it’s really annoying when you have to restart because the game failS you
HandyMan101 more attack angles doesnt make it better. This is a much better system with precision and realistic attack moves. Not wild unrealistic physics flailing with unauthentic attacks. Once again, more options does not make the old game better. Quality over quantity seems to have eluded you. Thats where your math has failed you. Youre probably one of those types who is good at thinking on paper, but would be held back by failures when it comes to practically applying things.
Mount & Blade have this system too, instead of 5(6) directions yout got 4 there, left, right, up, down in Mount and Blade the down attack is a pierce attack all other three are strikes. and Mount and Blade is far older than KCD but those two are way different games and not compare to each other.. M&B is more focused on commanding an own Army and lead them on the field.
Wow you must have done a lot of practice. Right now i am just putting everything on hold and now doing rattay tourney to improve my master strikes and perfect parry timing. Right now I can do pull off like 75% perfect parry and can now pull off like 2 to 3 master strikes although 2 master strikes and some other combos are sometimes enough for the opponent's health meter to go down below half or surrender completely. Master strikes are surely very overpowered and takes a lot of practice to pull it off. Those who are saying this game is too hard is just utterly impatient. I mean when you play this game you have to practice your skill. This game is very unique. I get lost in it without any sense of time. This game is hands down the best mediaeval game I have played(or am playing right now) . I can't for KCD 2 to come out.
Wanna know how I dueled him? I walked up to him, crouched, ran around him and kept trying to Stealth kill him till I could press it long enough before he turned. I finally got it and I fucking stealth killed him, took his armor. Put it in a box and waited awhile, then picked it up after a few days and it was mine.
From my experience, the best way to fight is just standing in defence and riposting your opponent to death. It's kinda boring, but you're perfectly safe with this style.
Before I had perks that were over powered and before I could basically one hit anyone wearing plate, I once had a duel with the wayfaring night that lasted through the night and into the next morning before I defeated him. It was amazing. I loved the fights then, it felt scary to fight one strong person, never mind fighting multiple people at once. Now, with the perks and such, I can just walk into a camp and one hit anyone wearing anything as long as I hit them over the head with a mace.
Aye, I made the mistake to pick it up on my first playthrough, which this video comes from, but sadly there was no potion to reset your skill points at that time. Made for some fun moments, though.
The stab when having sword and the Mace(Esp Bailiffs Mace) is truly the best in this game. Mace is of course the most effective agains heavy armor. When reaching high lvls in strength, vitality and main then you can oneshot a plate armored foe :D (with master strike that is*)
Best fucking game i've played. Hope they stick to this kind of realism on KCD 2 and not listen to the crybabies that want to pick up a sword and 360noscope 1v10 everything.
i wondered what would happen if i killed every NPC in rattay, so i saved the game and went on a rampage. After about 20 mins, every npc in rattay was dead.... only the lords live because they cant be killed. Now i wander around rattay, and there isnt a single npc left. They dont respawn! not even the guards^^
Hahahaha you scoundrel! I did the same but in Talmberg as I found out youcna actually carry a spear while mounted and it's awesome, I'll be doing a video of it a bit later!
When I was a noob starting the game a few days ago, I knocked a guard out in Talmberg and stole his knight armor which I used for a long time to great avail. 30 hours of gameplay later he's still patrolling the fucking castle walls with nothing but his underwear.
yesterday i encountered him while fast-travelling, thought he was a bandit and finished him off with my bow 🤣 sorry sir knight it's dark and I'm short-sighted
Combos works only on locked targed ? its realy hard for me to execute all chain of blows. Usually my opponet blocks/riposte my combo and i have to repeat. What im doing wrong ? or maybe i should do combos only my succesfull riposte? Any help pls. Nice fight and last blow perk activate was funny af :)
Hello there, to be honest I haven't tried it on unlocked targets. It's hard for me to, the trick is to be very focused and as soon as you see an opening to try and start the chain. I'm currently working on a more advanced combos video where I try to explain what I mean.
Actually I've killed the wayfarer knight in his sleep when I found out he was staying in one of the rooms of the inn outside of town. In his locker you can find his armor and weapons.
