If you’re familiar with dragon ball z, this quote is my favorite because it makes me look at Terra & Vegeta similarly. Both was possessed, & both fought back out of sheer pride. Both got knocked down multiple times & kept getting up against all odds to ultimately lose (until KH3 happened). Pride to make things right for Terra, & pride to not take orders from anyone again for Vegeta. Just a comparison I’ve always thought when seeing this scene, but it’s also just a badass quote in its own right
@@MrBepis-qx5ye and after winning he just sat back down taking the blow. he was an empty husk without any thoughts. at that point he was just the physical manifestation of his determination to win. he literally just stood up to fight and to win no matter how by sheer will power. i get goosebumps everytime i watch it again.
What’s even worse is that is actually a fragment of Tera’s Hate, lament, and determination to defeat Xehenort… A fragment of his Will/Mind. His Will/Mind is capable of releasing a fragment detached from the Soul/Heart. Essentially a doppelgänger made of armor… Im thinking how cool it would be to play as tera in a future game and have the Lingering Will appear during special attacks and as a temporary companion like in the DMC series… Vergil…. His doppelgänger/clone abilities were interesting….
Lingering Will 10 years later: I don't know why, but I have this strange urge to beat the shit out of a random keyblade wielder teenager Sora: Bro the hell is this armor doing in the middle of nowhere? Lingering Will: *Bingo*
@@OmegaChase1002 ok, didn't have to be an a$$hole about that like I'm stupid or something but sure. I said that cuz I thought Sora at the time was 5 in BBS, making it 9 years during KH1. Then 1 year from KH2 is 10.
I just realized that Xehanorts dialogue would later be echoed by Ansem when Sora confronts him in the remains of Destiny Islands. "All hearts begin in darkness. And all so end."
The Camel Channel It doesn't feel natural though. "Yay I got a new body, better exposit my belief that there's nothing after death to no one in particular. Because _That's_ important for some reason!"
There are a lot of flashback quotes in the game. Ven's "My friends are my power" line was used by Sora during his confrontation with Riku in Hallow Bastion.
It just means that Terranort really was that powerful. In KH3, he one-shot and near killed Ventus before anyone could even see him move, and then proceeded to wipe out half the cast by himself. Terranort was easily the strongest of the Xehanort clones due to the quality of the vessel he was in. The only reason you manage to "beat him" in KH3 was because of injuries he sustained when Lingering Will came back for Round 2, and even then it needed Terra-Guardian to actually finish him off.
Xehanort had plans for Terra and Ven, yet they had their chances of resisting via beating the crap out of him and denying him the x blade. While Aqua was seen by him as a disposable extra. She ended up screwing him over the most.
@@benjaminmcneil574 Tbh that’s nonsense, people always love to exaggerate and put Aqua on pedestal when literally Ventus also screwed Xehanort plans by sacrificing himself to stop the X-blade. And are we pretending that Aqua didn’t messed up big time by Saving Terranort which what made Xehanort win?
@@aoto8897 sry for a 1 year late reply but tbh if Terranort did fall to the realm of darkness it would've most likely resulted in both him and Terra's heart being lost to darkness although we could counter point that and theorise if aqu figured out Terra literally forced his will to exist within his armor one could think that he'd maybe somehow pinpoint where his body and heart are given he's still a part of Terra's original self in some way Would've been awesome to see that happening although it would've made the story even more confusing XD
Can we just take a moment to realise that Terras last thought before he was norted was coming to the realisation that the X-Blade had been completed and Ven and Aqua were probably dead? The last act he did before his demise was coming to the realisation that the only ones he had still left had just died by Xehanorts will. No wonder he was too angry to die. Also with Terras heart missing and only his mind remaining in his armor, is he technically the first Nobody ever?
lingering will is an extension of terra's remaining thoughts that were not scattered when terranort was divided into ansem and xemnas, after master xehanort returned those thoughts returned and thats how namine brought lingering will back in kh3. In no moment was terra divided into a heartless/nobody
I still think of this way: Terra -> possessed by Xehanort = Terranort Terranort -> stabbed himself with a keyblade = Ansem (heartless) + Xemnas (nobody) So I imagine Terra's nobody would look like Xemnas with Terra's brownish hair colour.
Ladies and gentlemen, the only unambiguous defeat Xehanort has ever suffered. In all the other times this guy's been beaten, in some way or another it's only helped his long term goals. Here? Lingering Will hands him his ass so hard, it would take a decade for Xehanort to fully recover.
LEGOMANIAC419 actually if you look at it carefully xehanort was already losing his memories before he met aqua. In fact, he remember who he was because he remember who aqua was. Also aqua end up going to The Realm of Darkness at the end of the fight so in hindsight, the only person that he actually fought that hindered his plan was his fight with Terra.
Lingering will has to be one of my favourite designs. It's just so freaking awesome. This lonely, immensely powerful being that you face only to find that in the end it's just a suit of armour animated by its warriors sheer willpower to right their wrongs.
This is quite possibly one of the most important fights in the entire series. Both fights agains Terranort, both as lingering will and as aqua, are what delayed Xehanort's plan long enough for Sora and Riku to grow up, become keyblade masters, and help stop Xehanort. Terra essentially managed to buy them about 12 years of extra time, otherwise Xehanort would have won when Sora and Riku were like 5, and far too young and ignorant to even know what was going on, let alone do anything to stop it. It was truly a decisive battle, because if Xehanort had defeated lingering will, he would have won. The fact that lingering will managed to delay his plans, (and Aqua delayed them even further by whooping the dude so hard he got amnesia), is really a lot more vital than people probably realize. Ventus's final battle is incredibly important for the same reason. He managed to prevent the successful forging of the X-blade. If he had lost to Vanitas, it would have been catastrophic
Defeat Xehanort and TAKE YOUR BODY BACK! -The greatest lie in Kingdom Hearts😂 edit: Wow!! Thanks so much for the 400 likes guys! hahah and I’m pretty sure a lot of us have played KH3 here so...🤣
King Sama Guardian and Lingering Will are both Terra. Guardian is his heart and Lingering Will is his lingering conscious, his will to defeat Xehanort.
Putting aside the fact that Xehanort played Terra like a kazoo (a fiddle is difficult to manipulate properly, and considering Terra is even more dense than a pound cake, it wasn't that hard, really), it makes you wonder if there are more like the Lingering Will. Just imagine it; empty suits of armor, devoid of heart, devoid of body. Just horrific suits of armor comprised of only the leftover mind of the keyblade wielder it once used. It could have been a neat third type of enemy for Sora and Co to face at random, since it wouldn't really be allied with either Org XIII or the Heartless. Just random enemies of the past that existed and still persist after the Keyblade War. Alas and alack.
Blue the long haired boi hd I saw a video on youtube where the bloody mysterious figure was ended with a zantetsuken. Sadly, it wasn’t the critical version, so no fancy camera angles.
I did not feel like that when I played, I just felt like it was a tough boss battle, since... still had my same command deck and stuff, now if it was like "here's a new command deck specifically for this fight that lets you wreck" then i'd agree
I feel that the Lingering Will fight against Sora was partly because of it's possibly still clouded mind, and he felt som connection to Sora. But also partly becuase he was aware of what was to transpire and wanted to test Sora's strength, and build a connection with him through combat.
I think it's because Sora is wielding a keyblade and it's not Riku ... LW know Terra bequeath Keyblade to Riku, but LW don't know where Sora got the Keyblade ... All LW know, Ventus and Aqua died in that Keyblade War ... And he know Terra killed Eraqus ... So who else Keyblade Wielder that possibly bequeath their Keyblade to Sora ? ... Xehanort ... LW think Sora is with Xehanort ... And only after Sora beating him, he sense Ventus inside Sora so LW become chill again and stop attacking Sora ...
Fun Fact: "No matter what Keyblade you equip here as Terra, you always end up with Ends of The Earth variant of the Earthshaker when you play as the Lingering Will."
Actually it is possible Keyblades can transform into other Keyblades via Keychains forged from connections Terranort is part Terra, and from that connection forge a Keychain allowing No Name to transform into Terra’s Keyblade So in that instance Terranort uses Ultima Cannon, he transforms No Name into Ends of the Earth to use its weapon cannon form
I think Terranort use Terra's Earthshaker keychain to turn it into Ultima Cannon ... While Lingering Will using End of Earth keychain for his Ultima Cannon ...
That badass moment of triumph where Terra comes back as armor is really contrasted by the hopeless resignation at the end of the fight Such an amazing moment, god damn
Just like Fairy God Mother from Cinderella told Terra ... Don't stop dreaming even if there's nothing you can do anymore, only then miracle can come to you ... Despite losing Heart and Body, Terra still believe in his dream to protect Ventus and Aqua ... His dream what lead to the miracle that his Armor live on its own and carrying on his lingering will ...
Just noticed a detail that honestly im surprised i never noticed before The lingering will didn’t say anything when attacking or casting spells. Well, it literally cant since it has no body in there but i just realized that enhances the feeling that Terra really is gone and all that remains is the rage and desire to defeat xehanort at all costs
That's why Lingering Will talking in Kingdom Hearts 3 is BOTH make me happy and disappointed ... I'm happy to finally hear Terra again ... But kinda disappointed because it ruined the "The armor is empty and all it know is beating Xehanort" thing ...
3:50 gives me goosebumps every single time i watch it. thinking about what is at stake, identifying with terra in that situation and when the best part of the song starts i see him run, getting hit and then he responds dancing with his keyblade. absolutely perfect.
7:27 “Alrighty then. Now it’s time to wait for a Brown-haired clone of Ventus, a talking white duck with magical abilities and a talking tall dog who’s silly so I can brutally murder them.”
But, instead, Lingering Will got brutally murdered trying to protect a time traveling Sora. If it wasn't for that, he would have given Xehanort another concussion.
The way Kingdom Hearts closes itself with the clouds over Lingering Will.. as if it was God and was satisfied with the performance Terra put on for it.
The classic PSP game and system limitations couldn't handle the cape at all. It was added in as armor detail in the PS3 and PS4 remix versions of the game, since he had a cape in Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix
in the original secret ending of kh2 thee was an secrete animation showing 3 key blade warriors in a key blade graveyard. they met in the middle of the grave yard to retrieve key blades as a mysterious figure approached them. this was the first glimpse of the story that takes place in birth by sleep. in this teaser video the warriors were all wearing capes. the lingering will boss fight in kh2 FINAL MIX featured one of those key blade warriors albeit taller and with a cape. later as birth by sleep was being developed they realized the cape render would be hard on the processor. so the capes were removed.
“this heart belongs again to darkness, all worlds begin in darkness, and also end. the heart is no different, Darkness Sprouts within it-- it grows, consumes it, such is its nature” my most favorite Kingdom Hearts quote
Kingdom hearts was summoned by the forging of the X-Blade. When it was destroyed by the combined forces of Mickey, Aqua, and Ventus, it returned to darkness. Terra was right below from where it was summoned. So it makes sense it would dim on him.
When I played Birth By Sleep last year I didn't like it that much because it was made for PSP, but when I saw the ending where Terra (Lingering Will) has his cape and kneels down and then kingdom hearts appear above him with the music in the background then the scene darkened, I had goosebumps all over my body because my mind wasn't ready for an epic scene like this. In my opinion this is the best scene in the entire Series. 7:21
Now when I think about it, Terra might comeback in KH3 and sacrifice himself to save his friends. Perhaps not himself but his lingering will probably. There’s no way Nomura just simply made Terra “Aqua, Ven, One day... I will set this right” then nothing happens.
Watching this and then him returning in kh3 with the piano version of Destiny's Union playing was quite possibly my favorite moment in the series so far.
RIGHT! that needed more screen time especially since they let you play as Aqua against a Vanitas. They did a good job distracting me from wanting to be LW with that cutscene tho
I don't think anybody knows how hard this fight truly is. I'm looking for guides on how to beat him, because Xehanort is merciless here. He is constantly attacking, giving you very little room to fight back. You can't even be close to him, otherwise, you get pounded. So you have to keep your distance, and attack when the moment is right. I just can't figure out that right moment.
This fight was supremely hard. The first time I played this game was on Proud mode I got to Terra Xehanort and lost multiple times. I lost so many times I hade to go to the Mirage Arena and level up from 23 to 47. That's right this battle was one of the hardest in the Story for me. A easier way to defeat Xehanort use the invisible spell and you'll be able to attack him without having to block and use counter hammer most of the battle. I did manage to defeat him on Critical, I mainly used invisible and ShotLock as much as I could.
The dude is reduced to nothing but a mere vengeful ghost haunting his armor out of his sheer rage and hatred toward the old fart, and possibly (most likely) hatred toward himself. Then he stays there, kneeling in resignation, regret, and guilt for over 10+ years, a shell of his former self, rotting alone in his own rage and grief. Yeah, you are not the only one.
Just recently finished his arc in my psp emulator on android, man his story kinda feels like a dark souls boss, being a soul trapped within his armor wielding his weapon against his original body. Edit: minor spelling mistake fix
Even with Terra's younger, stronger, new body, Terra's Lingering Sentiment still managed to overcome Master Xehanort. Why do YOU think did terra-xehanort lose to lingering will?
In reality it’s a game In universe, Terranort is new and inexperienced, Which in that moment, Lingering Will’s Heart is stronger The Keyblade can weaponize the Heart into power, it’s why Sora won against impossibly strong opponents himself, so in that moment Lingering Will won
@@christophersanchez7731 Except... Lingering Will has no heart. Terranort's (and later Ansem's) Guardian is Terra's heart in Heartless form. Terranort's power comes from the combination of Terra's body (which is physically strong) and Xehanort's heart and mind (which give him superior magic casting ability.) Terra was always strongest when he was angry, and Lingering Will is no exception, being a manifestation of Terra's will because he was simply too angry and too strong-willed to just lose his heart to darkness.
