I remember them performing this at Oxegen 2009 and I fucking loved it! Was beyond amazing live! One of my favourite songs of that set - Caleb's face was beyond sexy...
this type of song suits calebs voice perfectly! ive noticed from watching recent-ish performances, his singing voice sounds kind of raspy, strained and tired or maybe its just changing becoz hes gettin older, but the dark, bluesy, chilling, amazing sounds of this devil song work so well with his voice now. this is promising stuff for the next album

Agreed. It was originally quite hard to find all of their B-sides but nonetheless very rewarding once I found them all. They also did a few collaborations with other bands. Very cool.
This song beats any song on the new album in my view, wish they would do a dark bluesy album in the future i think his voice goes well with this type of music.

Originally, the new album was supposed to be released this fall, but it seems they're taking a 6 month break to play golf, believe it or not. Apparently they're obsessed with golf now. I have no doubt album #5 will be amazing. I just hope it comes out sooner than later.
Okay hear me out. If you are reading this you probably are a fan and fully aware of how out of this world this band is but why they aren't getting the attention they so very much deserved? Here's my theory, this song reflect how they refuse to be a tool of spreading and pushing degeneracy ( sex, drug abuse and much more ). Caleb is a Christian and even though they have song such as sex on fire ( still can't brain why this is the only song this band known for ), it reflects on how much such things affect them. They have several song base on the theme of alcoholism and Caleb mentioned in an interview that he struggled with it. If you are into the Illuminati stuff, this song explain that they refuse to be another puppet of them like so many other mainstream singer who pushing sex, drugs and alcohol. The price that they have to pay is they will never get the recognition that they deserve. They getting shunned by group or person that control the music industry. My two cent and p/s, i am high and fell into the rabbit hole of mass media shaping and controlling the world through hedonism and entertainment
it cool to see how the song has developed from when they first began to play it live because from what i'm hearing they have add new bits to it. Lets just hope it comes out good recorded and makes the album better than the last one, which shouldn't be hard
This is proof theyve still got really good songs in them, theyre just not going that way. Hopefully after they break up and reform theyll release stuff like this that theyve been sitting on and itll be one of the coolest records for a long time.

im a Christian and when i saw the title i was like , "welp, i guess i cant listen to these guys anymore." ( i say away from music that is obvious illuminati and songs that clearly put God down or in courage satan.) then i decided to just listen to it before i judge. im sooo glad i did. the line about getting filled with the Holy Ghost, i love it.

I heard them do this live in toronto last april,I sew them again that september they didnt play it but they did do tranii ... it was an amazing show @afyreinside theres also an awesome alternate version of Dusty thats pretty amazing
@Laron2219 Yeah actually they are taking a much needed break right now but they're rumored to start touring or at least release their album during June/July. They already have most of their songs written so its just a matter of time before they start recording if they haven't already.
Yeah Jared said that they have all the songs written and their going to start recording in March, and they hope to get the new album out by September or October

This song supposedly is going to be on the B-side of their new album, which I believe is scheduled for release in October 2010.. it was pushed back if I'm not mistaken.
Well I've been waiting to hear KOL play this song live at their concerts and they barely ever did, but finally at one concert they started playing it and I got out my camera and started recording it! Quite a bit of an accomplishment for me! haha
@HugoDoguh: Actually, he's had that raspy voice since their first CD. It was only on their most recent album that he started to sing more clearly. BTW, The Devil's Song ROCKS. I hope it's on their new CD
I love all the previous albums. I mean, I'm not going to lie, I LOVE Only by the Night but I really prefer the other 3. It's a little too crisp. I like it when they're the dirty, sexy, country boys they are. It's amazing.
@Scousetom16 I know i know it's so unfortunate. I saw them about 3 years ago, and the crowd was so great. Everyone was jamming and singing to everything. Then i saw them last year at ACL festival, and whenever their new songs came on, everyone sang, then whenever their old stuff was played, i felt like i was the only one rocking out!! for instance, they played "four kicks" and i could hear people around me saying, "whats this song?"...it's just tragic.
Actually, fans know this song as "Lucifer" or "The Devils Song". Some even know it as "Newcastle", I believe. Who cares if it doesn't have a name yet? I saw KOL play it live and it was mindblowing with or without a name.
I'd love for the next Kings of Leon album (if there is to be another one after all the commotion lately) to be like this, raw blues rather than over produced soft rock!

I haven't heard too much about that actually. I know someone compiled all B-sides, mashups, alternate versions (there is an AWESOME alternate version of Talihina Sky) , and remixes; and that's floating around on the internet somewhere. I forgot where I got it but I know it's out there. Also, Miike Snow made a remix of Crawl that someone (hopefully) will post on RU-vid.
