I don't get why critics are saying the story is hard to follow, it really isn't in fact it's pretty simple if you're actually paying attention. In it's most basic form it's a betrayal and escape story, sure none of the characters aside from Nyx, Luna and Regis really leave an impression or matter but aside from that it's a relatively solid film as far as FF films go and a good prelude to the story of FF15.

After watching this review and checking out some other reviews, I have come to the conclusion that the movie is an awesome movie for action and Final Fantasy fans, but complete crap for people who don't care for Final Fantasy.

As someone who never played any Final Fantasy games, I must say the film really caught my attention. My main interest in the film comes from the fact, that I have no idea what the fuck is going on, but it it looks like a really awesome power fantasy movie.

i am balls deep in to ff lore, and i don't think spirits within was garbage , yes it was not the greatest story telling or action but i still liked it, but man advent children ? Fucking loved it - but i could see why a lot of people felt lost with it, because without playing ff7 you don't really know of what is happening and who are all these characters , but Kingsglaive raised the bar above that. Loved it, and shame these movies don't get the publicity they deserve

Knife-throwing teleportations? I've seen that somewhere. It has something to do with someone called The Yellow Flash or something if i'm not mistaken. Regardless, it's a great review, and i'm looking forward to get the bluray release. And btw, does sasuke play a big role in the movie? He's going to be the next hokage right? Ehm, i mean Noct.. KS is absolutely mindblowing... the post credit scene stops right when FFXV starts... and this does just says it all: this movie is made for and only for fans. Personally, it gave me chills, and the next 2 months ahead are going to last forever it seems. Technically the movie is perfect, the story is totally coherent from what we already know of FFXV. I would only reproach it to take quite long to reveal what's going on but damn the last 3rd part is just amazing and so emotional. I think that with Brotherhood SE simply did a crazy enormous job to put players in good conditions to enjoy the next FF, and for me it is worth a 10 out of 10 hands down because it's simply too rare in the industry, not to say unique. And the best part, as I bought the digital copy of it, is that I will watch it again on November 28th... so yeah, thanks Nyx for allowing our heroes to have a future :) I am so ready to rock that game now more than ever

This "reviews" made me realize how disrespectful, mediocre and biased Angry Joe's channel is. The Kingsglaive movie works perfectly as a stand alone story, it explains itself even if it leaves things in the air (because of the game) but nothing previous to it is needed to understand it. Joe seems to suffer amnesia and can't remember a single name or thing in the movie properly. The world is Eos not Eon, the royal family is Lucius, not Lucian, Nifflheim not Nippleheim, Lunafreya is not Regis daughter and the "lightning casting" power is not from star wars Siths or Jedi's, they're called Spells. How can you hold a subscribers base of over 2 million with this "quality" of content? Is it supposed to be a joke or a "comedic" character that portrays the typical super ignorant throwing assed opinions about everything without a clue? I don't get it... I believe you owe more respect to your subscribers, viewers and supporters. More than "reviews" about movies you didn't understood, you don't remember and you clearly didn't even payed attention to.

You probably already know this but, most of the names they come with (Noct, Nyx, ect.) all have SOME tie in to an element of darkness/night/death, it's one of the things I REALLY like about this and how nice the subtlety in it is. I really want to see this movie and I'm INSANELY Psyched up for the game! I even loved the Platinum demo to hell!

I'm just sad that this was in such a limited release. I'm sure they could have got a good ROI if they released it to more screens, even if it was still the one day showing. But, I will definitely grab the blu-ray when it releases on the 30th!!

That movie was for the fans , and only for them. I watched the Warcraft movie and it did just that wrong. Massproduced fancy mainstream crap built around the lore. Square Enix and Sony did everything right here. A lot various scenes , visuals and dialog depth. Not one single moment I got board. Too little character development but non the less, bravo Square Enix. Bravo! Btw the movie was made with English actors. Japanese people see only the dubbed and subbed versions.

You have to keep in mind, this movie was fully crafted with CGI and that alone should boost it up a point or two over an acted film. (Not that acting is bad, but I fee a lot more goes into getting good CGI to work). They have to put so much effort into the physics, and lighting, and character models, audio, visual effects, voice acting, movements, environments so that they all line up together. This movie was crafted with a lot of attention to detail, and done so well people don't comment about anything being out of place. The fact that the movie doesn't fall apart or take away from the experience due to it being all CGI should say something.

It seems no CG animated movie can compare to the fight scenes from FF7 Advent Children, which came out in 2005 (yes *11 years ago*).

The problem with the movie really was that it was just a 2-Act movie -- like, imagine if Empire Strikes Back ended right after the battle of Hoth, only here that entire chunk is stretched to feature length. I do think a lot of critics would've been much more appreciative toward it if it had a proper ending, or if it was Part 1 of a 2+ part series of films; the fact that they, the Critics, were never going to see the end of the story, clearly irritated them somewhat, and while I think they were WAY too harsh on it, I do find this particular facet understandable from their perspective. Having said that, I just rewatched this movie a couple of months ago and it's genuinely really good --- There are emotional beats that work, the pacing and tone are consistent, the action scenes are genuinely top-notch, and the animation, both artistically and technically, is still unmatched; I think this movie featured more visual creativity than Pixar has shown in the past decade. The only thing I genuinely don't like is the way that the goodguys lose because there are traitors in their ranks, and powerful ones at that. Underdog stories are already compelling, so complicating it with turncoats only acts to frustrate.

Lucians in Insomia are like full of mages and wizards that their use magic powers came fro the crystal. While the Nifelheim are only have machines and daemons. The emperor of Nifelheim wanted more powers to conquer the world Aeon, thats how the war began for the crystal from Insomia.

This is the first movie based on a video game that I've been generally entertained with. Although it's not a great movie but it's a guilty pleasure of mine.

I believe that the "huge monster that fire missiles" Joe talks about is actually I "weapon" (like ff7 diamond weapon) along with summons (or demons like Joe says)

STOP THE MOVIE SHIT AND START REVIEWING F*CKIN GAMES!

The ring will most likely be the source of summons in the game. Which will have to fall into the hands of Noct for the player to be able to use summons eventually. Otherwise it wouldn't be a Final Fantasy game without a mechanism for summons.

The website is not just any media website with critics. All it does is take all the reviews that have come out for a movie and put a percentage on the movie depending on how the critics recieved it. Thats it.

Actually first FF movie was quite alot of Final Fantasy setting. All series bring us stories about spirits, gods and planets. Movie was about planets like a living criture with a soul that shares all livings on it. It's good onw if you stops waiting huge swords and magic blasts.

Final Fantasy The Spirits Within was an awesome movie to be honest. I agree it had very little to do with the final fantasy everyone knows and loves, but I feel like so many people hated it purely because it wasn't what they were expecting it to be like. Kind of like expecting to drink some of your coke, and then tasting it only to find out you just drank sprite. It kind of messes with your mind to the point where the sprite actually tasted bad because you were expecting it to be something else, even if you liked sprite.

ok city name is lucis, (now this part is totally my opinion) i believe this world is the same world as previous ff games that have used crystals like ffxiv but this one is obviously way beyond into the future making lucis the last kingdom that uses crystals as their magic source, now idk if they would probably have hydaelin as their goddess or is the world is still named eorzea, but the primals are in there hope we get to see garuda, shiva and ifrit

Kingsglaive is easily a 9/10. For a VideoGame movie it is extraordinarily worthwhile. The production value and the level of enjoyment as a regular movie just on its own it is excellent. It is 2 straight hours of high level storytelling and modern entertainment. If one knows just a little about the FF series and is used to fictional content in general - which almost everybody is today - there is just nothing to complain about here. And I think 7/10 is hugely unfair. OAO.

Joe started Final Fantasy in it's dark age when XIII, it's sequels and vanilla XIV were staining the franchise. But Joe will also witness Final Fantasy rise from the ashes as XV leads the JRPG world into Ultra HD age.

It's not his daughter, I believe it's the daughter of a friendly nation, that still trusts him till now. And I was rather sure that the crystal was something only lucian(not sure the spelling) have, but the empire started to eat into their borders until they setup the barrier. The situation of the massacre happen during the time when lucian royalty went out to meet the princess's nation(which mean out of the barrier.) Unless I misunderstood, I am rather sure that was it.

I love how out of touch Rotten Tomatoes is. It gets funnier by the day. According to it, the movie has an 8% fresh rating, but the fan reviews give it an average of 4 1/2 stars out of 5. If this were anywhere near me I would watch it.

Is there a dvd or blue-ray on the original language? I'm personally not interested in dealing with the dubs just in case.

I am probably in the minority, I actually liked the Spirits Within. It could of had a bit more action or been a bit shorter but I actually cared about what happened to the characters. Advent Children was definitely better then SW but it was just pure eye porn, they just exploited our love of FF7. I look forward to seeing the movie, playing the game and also the re-mastered edition of FF7.

Joes movie reviews are not reviews. They are "Movie Opinions" no one cares for them. His game reviews are what people trust. Everything he says in his game reviews are always the brutal honest truth. Thats why his game reviews get 1 million to 2 million veiws in a few days.

Major disappointment. Spoilers. Best parts were the action scenes, but Square was not able to show them really well. Shaky cam all the way, a cut every two seconds and the camera was sooooo zoomed in, that the screen often seemed obscured. Just show me the action for what it is worth. Luna was completely unnecessary. The condition from Nifelheim for the truce, Noctis having to marry Luna, made sense. Luna is a princess in Nifelheim territory. When the prince of Lucis is married to her, it would strengthen the political ties between Lucis and Nifelheim. But scrap that because the actual plan was to use her as simple bait for the Kingsglaive to go get her out of the battleship fleet. BUT would an undisclosed fleet of battleships in near proximity to the crown city not be enough reason for the Kingsglaive to investigate - without Luna on board? The commander of the Kingsglaive was Glauca, and like at least half of the KIngsglaive were traitors anyways - so couldn't Glauca just have said: Hey guys, we discovered a fleet, go check it out. ?????? Why not have the fleet full of explosives? The moment everybody is on you can detonate it and be done with this wohle thing. Nifelheim could have been in shambles. The signing goes awry and the Lucis council summons super many blades, ready to strike. And this evil, old king pulls out a gun. Cool. And then to robots break in and shoot. Cool, cool. Then the Nifelheim king and the Nifelheim chancellor just walk out. What!?! If Glauca was there already I would have understood. He can really turn the tides. But just two robots and a few guns and Regis and his possy do nothing? Kill those evil bastards while you can, they are in the same room. Why were the evil king and chancellor even there to begin with, if they did not plan to sign the treaty? They did not serve any purpose being at the palace - just flee Insomnia while shit goes down and be safe. Regis died in vain. He sacrificed his life so that Luna and Nyx were able to flee. Only problem: they did not flee until he was dead and Glauca was just standing there, chilling, not trying to power through this magical barrier between them at all. Have Regis and Glauca fight long enough so that Luna and Nyx can escape for the time being, or have Regis escape with them. But as is, Regis' death was for nothing. Glauca working overtime. Never has it been established, that the Glauca who attacked Tennebrea (spelling) 12 years ago, and the Glauca attacking Insomnia are two different people. So I have to assume it is just one guy, who, twis incoming, is also the commander of the Kignsglaive. But being a super highly ranked general (Glauca) and the commander of an elite force of soldiers (Kingsglaive) in times of dire war, with many battles to be fought, is surely very, very time-consuming. What exactly should the audience beliefe? That every time Glauca did something, the commander of the KIngsglaive disappeard under mysterious circumstances? Come on, is the logic of this movie not tortured enough? Weak, illogical movie that could have been so much better with a few little tweaks.

Fair review guys, I can understand the confusion with the story and whatnot, Final Fantasy has always been one of those suspension of disbelief kind of games where many things are highly fantasized and out there, you're either okay with that or not.

Huh, the knife-teleport thing was done in Warframe a while ago with Nezha and his hula hoop of death. One of his abilities is to throw a giant chakram and if you cast the ability again while it's still in flight, you teleport to it's current location.

The country is lucis, the last remaining city not under niflheim control is insomnia, the girl at the start is lunafreya, she is the Princess of tenebrae (the place that gets attacked at the start), noctis and her are childhood friends and are later to be betrothed

Lunafreya isn't related to King Regis in anyway am I right ? She's supposed to marry Noctis for the joint forces of the 2 kingdoms. I could be wrong tho.

From the trailers and visuals here I didn't even know it was an animated movie until someone mentioned it.

I guess I'll have to be the first to explain that most of the FF universes don't connect in any way. Even the FF anime movies are in their own universes. This is why I am one of the few that enjoyed The Spirits Within, because I saw it as it's own story, instead of trying to connect and compare it to the games. Plus I felt Advent Children was crap because as a true FFVII fan, I noticed all the plotholes and shit that didn't make any sense.

I actually like Final Fantasy Spirits Within. It might of not have been the "Final Fantasy" we wanted but it was still an enjoyable movie. It is still impressive CGI for the time as well.

The spirits within is an awesome movie, if you forget it's supposed to be a final fantasy movie and just think of it as a cgi sci fi. It really doesn't have anything to do with the ff universes/games apart from 'cid' and the final crater.

I enjoyed Advent Children despite its flaws. I recently picked up the Complete version to see if the extra footage helped it. Will play the game if I ever pick up a PS4 or if it comes to PC.

I find it sad that they don't market it properly, it costs over 100 million to make if my research is right, and even worst that they don't care to make it watchable for non-final fantasy fans, Even I had moments of "ok wtf just happened" having that aside it was awesome!

its funny as i cant say i didn't enjoy watching this movie since it was a feast for the eyes. but the story was hard to follow and a lot of it went overmy head and the fight scenes at times were really hard to follow with how fast the camera is darting around.

Kingsglaive is basically an epic mixture of Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid (The one that had Kojima producing it)
