I usually call this one the'Mother Ship'. But yeah, SO many tropes originated here, many in CANON. Such as 'FoD', 'sex pollen' or 'huddling for warmth' or 'trapped in a cave' (all literally, bonding, 'heat', etc. It was shipping and fanfic gold.

THIS VIDEO. K/S is my OTP of OTP's. You did a great job presenting the historical context of the ship and the voice-overs were hilarious! Channeling William Shatner for sure. :D This video makes me so happy. One thing I'd add that is an essential part of the ship is Spock seeing Kirk as his T'hy'la according to Roddenberry himself, a word that is translated to mean either brother, friend or lover. It's basically the bread and butter of K/S fics and is rarely not included in some form.

I find it so cool how you make fandom such a safe place for everyone. It's so cool to see a content creator advocating for alliance between shippers and fandom as a whole! Always looking forward to your videos and your super positive attitude and awesome research on all my fav ships. Xo

When I started watching Star Trek a few years ago, I was like: nah, just platonic. But the thought, the feels and all those so *damn shipable* moments didn't leave me alone. And after I re-watched The warth of Khan, I had to admit that I'm shipping Spirk. I will go down with this ship. But in the reboot... I never saw this... love. In the reboot, all I can see is Spock and Nyota, and that's fine! Btw: I shiped him and her when I was a little kid in the tos ♥

Ah Kirk and Spock basically the epicenter that got me hooked on Star Trek. Although I must give a shout-out to Scotty/Uhura and say how much I would love to see a video on them. Being the only canon pairing for the TOS crew outside of lady of the week one offs. Also one of the few things I enjoy about Star Trek V besides the McSpirk camping trip.

I will always love kirk/spock i grew up watching startrek in the 60's when it first aired in sept 66

Definitely one of my favs. One of the oldest I am shipping. Occasionally difting into the McSpirk zone or the McKirk region, mainly because of the reboots. I ship a lot of pairings and they grow in number with every fandom I join (tv series and movies, comics and cartoons, anime and manga, books and so on) but Spirk will always hold that special place in my heart.

Could you do Ereri? It's such a popular and controversial ship, I think it would make an interesting video :)

Could you make a video about Mckirk (McCoy and Kirk) because I've always seen more potential for that one. Mostly because of affectionate their friendship feels.

My first OTP. Hells they were the first fanfics I ever read! I'd heard about the pairing before I'd ever watched Abrams!XI or TOS (had to borrow them from my Uni library). I've never looked back. Always have a soft spot in my heart for these guys :D

I swear Uhura and Spock had moments in the original, not just the 2009 movie! That was always my ship in ST. I'm glad they made that a part of the new movies. I also love what they did with Spock's personality. He is half human, it makes sense for him to blow up sometimes. Basically I can talk about that Vulcan all day. As for K/S, I always thought of them as brothers, but I can see why this is a pairing people like.

Great video! But then you always do great work. The Kirk and Spock pairing is one of the few I can think of that I ship both romantically and platonically. I would adore a video about Garak and Dr. Bashir, they are one of my OTPs. A video about Picard and Q would be interesting as I have never thought of them as a ship before....should be educational! My top OTPs for Star Trek are!!! 1. Kirk/Spock -- No shit!2. McCoy and my OC Kathy Weller -- In my fanfic, Kathy was a nurse on the Enterprise, who struck up an instant bond with McCoy. And Kathy also happened to be Kirk's fiancee. But he dumped her for Spock. (Long story, which is still a work in progress). And well, Kathy went to the next guy who didn't treat her like dirt. MCCOY!!! Although I haven't finished my story yet, I have big plans for them!3. Scotty/Uhura -- Perhaps it was that cute little scene in The Final Frontier, where Uhura mentions going on shore leave with him. I don't know. I've just always shipped them. They've always seemed the most likely to be canon, too.4. Uhura/Chekov -- I've always loved how dopey Chekov is and I can absolutely imagine him having a mad crush on Uhura and not being able to handle it. Squee!! He's just so dayum cute! And last but not least, my one and only ship from TNG: Data/Deanna. I know Data isn't supposed to have human emotion (in the show at least), but there's something in me that can't fight it. I love their friendship; their dynamic. And when Data installs the emotion chip, ooh God!! I can imagine him falling head over heels with her.

Honestly I'm aromantic and asexual so my shipping does not often leave the platonic zone. However I have great respect for Kirk/Spock shippers and will read fics as long as the pairing is not the center of the story (like I prefer stories that have plots not dependent on any romantic pairing even if they are part of it). I think of it as the modern original ship. With Achilles and Patroclus being the ancient one. Incidentally would you have any interest in doing a Patroclus/Achilles ship? I would love to hear your thoughts!
