Duct knives are one of those hidden gems you find in less likely places. Cheap, blade is an awesome design (A fine edge and serrated edge dagger makes the knife way more versatile) and it's top notch quality. I've seen these knives survive things that would total top shelf brand knives. These are amazing knives.
Ive just got one of these, here in Scotland, for use on my boat. For once, our price wasnt a total rip off and double yours. It cost 25 quid. It was the cheapest stainless decent sized fixed blade i could find. Should be good for ropes, netfing etc, which seems to be everywhere over here at the moment. Just last week we fouled our prop on rope. I realised my knife at the time would just tickle it, so i went to look for something more substantial. Now im hoping to foul some more stuff, haha
Tool companies make knives that can surprise, that's for sure. I ended up with an old Proto USA lockback that looks almost identical to a Buck 110 aside from the tang stamp and its just about as good as the real deal.
That, is a great fishing knife! The serrated side is "perfect" for scaling and the regular side cuts bait beautifully! Pretty good beater for 20 bucks!
Great video! Now I know what abuse mine will take 🙂 Thanks for testing it out. I might make a leather sheath for mine, to give it a bit more class. Also considering a new handle.
@@DonnieBAllDay Luckily, my other hobbies are leather crafting and model making. I've got some black leather which might be good. Wood wise, I've got some Box wood (might be a bit too soft for the job), and somewhere there's a strip of Mahogany that was meant to become a Pipe Rack 😀 It'd be nice to have a metal guard, but I'm not equipped for Metal working. I don't know yet. Might just leave it alone 😄
I've got a duct knife similar to this, except it's made by Milwaukee and has a solid plastic "sheath". It's allegedly got a full tang, according to the package and the lanyard hole in the handle as well. It makes for a pretty good utility knife, at least in my experience so far.
I have a Milwaukee duct knife made the same way & itd make one heck of a combat knife. It has d2 steel that is a full tang so I assume that klein prob did something similar.
Check out the Menard's Masterforce duct knife, i just got one as it was only 13.00-14.00 $ but its very heavy feeling, the handle is weighty i guess as its got through length tang and thick steel pommel. 6" length blade. They make several different trades knives that look really solid. I got this one for a regular carry knife as i like fixed blades and its a bit understated as opposed to other of my sheath knives that are a bit to ....ostentatious...to carry around in city. Hey its a duct knife bystanders...just officially for duct killing...says so on the package
I actual have one of those on my tool belt even though I’m an electrician… because the world is nuts… Estwing also makes one with a kydex sheath that’s Aus 8
Heads up, in stated where double edged knives and daggers are unlawful, this knife isn't likely to be considered a "tool" by the cop busting you and you are going to be charged with carrying it.... with the possible exception that you can actually prove you need and are using it at work. No judge or juror is likely to agree with you that it's just a tool if the cops find it protruding from your X-spouse or even if you were using it for self defense. Yes, it's a cool knife design, but it's likely just about the worst design from the view point of a legal defense.... ever.
@@DonnieBAllDay All states are different, but in my state you can carry a non-banned knife for "any lawful purpose" it's up to the state to prove your purpose was unlawful. Or up to you to state an unlawful purpose. In the case of unlawful knives there is an minimal exception for "unlawful" knives in as much as you have to prove that they are necessary for and being used for a lawful purpose. In other words the burden of proof is on you. So if you are an HVAC tech, without a criminal history, working on a job site, cutting ducting when you got busted, a judge might rule that you had sufficient cause to possess and carry that kind of knife.
You did better review than Bozo the Clown(IMO) You actually mentioned price. Anyway, I like my Milwaukee better($22), although both prob came from same(or similar factory) in near-by Provence.
