I use these every day as an electrician, they aren't perfect. Over time the factory threadlocker on the screw hinge will break, and cause the pliers to loosen or tighten constantly, especially if you're cutting screws or MC cable. To fix it you have to disassemble and apply some loctite juuuust right. Not a big deal but it is a pain, I had to do it once so far after 5 months of everyday use. The grip knurl straight up sucks, put it on your thumbnail and pivot it and you'll see the lack of grip. They should use the tech they have that makes the cobras and twingrips grip so well and apply that to the strippers. As well, it's hard to clamp down hard enough on wires to twist them, even 18 guage is a pain to twist with these. That's probably a consequence of leverage and im not sure how they could fix that, better grip knurl will help, but all hybrid pliers in this style have this problem. The nut gripping part is also useless, too small and if it slips you risk damaging the stripping holes that are right there. They should get rid of that for either more stripping holes or more wire gripping surface area. Even with these problems they are still the best strippers ever made, two features I cannot live without anymore is the no-thread screw cutting, which feels like it saves me hours of time every day, and the cutter which cuts MC cable and all other wire like butter. And the actual wire stripping is the smoothest and easiest on the market. I'll keep using em and if I lose or break them I'd buy another pair, but I look forward to an even better improved version one day.

Thanks for the feedback. I think you are right. I had the same thought about the grips, why not use the cobra style grip? Thanks for watching! 👍

There's no one pliers as sophisticated, practical, and as high quality as those featured KNIPEX forged pliers. Who I'm to say such a sweeping statement? I've been into electro-mechanicals and electronic projects for the past 20 years and over the said course of time I've had the privilege to use a plethora of pliers models and types from all major brands/ manufacturers you name it - KNIPEX, KLIEN TOOLS, CK, GEDORE. NWS, MILWAUKEE, WIHA, ENGINEER, etc. At the end of the day, my hands reach out for these when I need one. Having said that, there is a cavil, I wish KNIPEX had offered a version with VDE handle grip- that's one of my personal favourite handle grips out of all that KNIPEX offers. Thank you for such an insightful review.

Got my knipex wire strippers recently, an added bonus if you use cotter pins, that unthreaded hole is excellent for cutting cotter pins flush and straight. Unlike side cutters where they will sometimes twist on the cut. These things are just amazing.

That's a good point on cotter pins, I will be trying that. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Hey @MORGANSMaintenance, that’s good feedback. I’m hearing if you cut a lot of screws, they can have some issues but solid otherwise. 👍

Good review! I'm a little surprised that there is no hole for 10 stranded wire as that is a thing. And it seems like they could have thrown a crimper of some sort on there.

I have that Milwaukee 6 in 1 and then the Klein with the curved blue handle that’s basically the same as the Milwaukee 7 in 1

I understand you’re a Knipex fan, but taking them out of the equation, how do you feel about the two Milwaukee compared to each other? I like the idea of the needle nose tip for closing down wire when you’re putting together outlets/switches and need to bend the tail that extra few millimeters around a screw

All my tools are Milwaukee. So I'll stick with Milwaukee. I don't like mixing other brands and colors. Milwaukee $30 vs Knipex $65

Can any N in one whatever replace your dedicated tools? Answer is No. My versatile tool will only be used in DIY jobs which is barely fulfilling different entry level requirements. Keep your dedicated one for money making jobs. Thank you.

This video is not declared as a paid review that i could see. It sounds like it is and is kinda biased. Also this guy is no electrician because he stripped some wire and nicked the copper which is dangerous if done like that. I feel like I'm watching a paid ad!
@projectpinehills
@projectpinehills 5 месяцев назад
Well you are wrong. I bought all those wire strippers. Nicked wire? It’s a demo, not an install. You are too funny. Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍

The nose of the knipex being used as a loop hole would also potentially mar and weaken the copper.
