Wish we could stop the comparisons, Kobe doesn't even want to be compared to Michael he has said that many times.

Assuming both players take like 25 (which is a lot) shots a game, that’s literally the difference between 2-4 points a game. That can easily be made up else where with rebounds, steals, or just good defense.
@DALykes
@DALykes 2 года назад
Yes buttttt Jordan's shots were more mid-range shots and going to the basket tho, Kobe's shots were more mid-range to the three point range. Jordan took less shots at the 3 point range and Kobe was more of a threat out there beyond the arc so he was heavily guarded more and sometimes double teamed as well.
@leq6992
@leq6992 Год назад
@@DALykesBecause Kobe was a chucker. He shot 33% from 3 for his career, and if you take out a 3 year stretch where he shot 35-36% each year, he's a Westbrook/Giannis like 30% from deep every other year.

@@deanmitchell1575 the disrespect to kobe, shaq didnt carry kobe, jellybean was averaging 29 in the playoffs with shaq. Shaq was the big beast but he damn near had a lot of help. In 04 karl malone and gp were out of their prime that wasnt defensive god gp. If your gonna use stats dont tell half a story in 91 finals though defensively he couldnt shut down this beast of a pg in magic and needed pippen to do it, other wise magic would of cooked on him again. Mj needed a top 50 player all time in scottie pippen and he needed another all star or great player like dennis lead the league in rebounds ffs. Horace grant was a all star, bj armstrong was a all star. Mj had hof with him all the time and kobe had average players. And you cant disrespect detroit if they dont face injuries and not to forget time was knocking on the door they win again. They were spanking the bulls so whats your point? They even said our strategy was make mj keep shooting thats how we win. What we do know mj never won without pippen but kobe could win without shaq. Because pippen without mj was one whistle away from the finals and mj without pipp was a 1st round exit You cant disrespect kobe like that. His fg% doesnt paint the picture this man worked harder than everyone else thats why he was so great in his system he was asked to shoot more long range shots they both 33% shot from 3pt but kobe had 3x more so clearly the one guy believed he could shoot better. Thats why to me we base legacy of our stars to much on stats im talking skill and skill wise kobe no.1 all time

If you compare overall talent of Jordan's Era compared to the talent of the last 13 yrs, the shooting guards of that era, team mates, and more between Jordan and Bryant, trust and believe man...you will DEFINITELY find a reason to compare Kobe to MJ! Stats don't tell the entire story! And A LOT of things folks like to brush off when it comes to Jordan too...he's overrated in tons of ways the folks don't even know
@turtleislandlac1490
@turtleislandlac1490 3 года назад
Why don't you list the ways Jordan is "overrated" instead of making some broad general statement as you Kobe fans tend to do.
@AriesMarquis
@AriesMarquis 3 года назад
@@turtleislandlac1490 For one, which I already stated, he defeated weak competition, and you are only as good as your competition. The 90s had some of the most unathletic, watered-down players ever, plus 6 expansion teams? What players can compete with prime Kyrie, McGrady, Westbrook, Harden, Ray Allen, Durant, Tim Duncan, D-Wade and like 40 more, in their primes?? Craig Ehlo? John Starks? Detlef Schrempf? Jordan was, literally, the most athletic person on the floor every night at his position, and overall. Kobe could not say that. The tallest players were usually the best in the 90s while during Kobe's era, nearly every position could shoot and run post game. Plus, the game's defenses were not just one on one based on position, or just a hard-double team, but anyone can guard anyone, and use man or zone, and even no names can shoot the lights out compared to the 90s players. 🤨 Teams with one HoFer in the Finals, yet the Bulls couldn't sweep the playoffs? Probably NO player outside of Jordan, Hakeem, and Pippen could compete with Russell Westbrook in the 90s, and it's not close, yet Kobe faced, defended against, and defeated a ton players with athleticism, shooting, handles, IQ, everything! Next, folks love to talk about "Kobe had Shaq! Shaq was the most dominate whatever", yet only base this from FINALS MVPS (stupidest logic ever), but when bringing up how Scottie actually handled the assist, block, rebound, defense, and backup scoring help in almost every Finals (which stats and live action prove he out performed Jordan in most of those categories in the Finals) then Scottie is spit upon. Smh. That overrates Jordan because people REALLY claim Kobe was carried, but Jordan carried Pippen 😂. I have even heard people say they would take Pau (a better scoring Charles Oakley) over Pippen just to undermine Kobe and overrate Jordan. 😂😂 The real logic is Pippen AND Jordan carried the Bulls just as Kobe AND Shaq carried the Lakers. This is why Jordan and Lequeen fans overrate Shaq as well, as if Shaq is not the most swept big man.

Shaq didn't lead them past the greatest player of all time...if you were 33, you would remember that Jordan left for baseball and he was still getting used to being back..that being said, he also had if you don't remember Penny Hardaway, Horace Grant, and Nick Anderson. Jordan was hardly EVER single covered on D - the man was routinely double and triple teamed his ENTIRE career. Illegal D just basically prevented players form guarding areas ala Zone D. Once a player got the ball, you could throw as many defenders at him as you saw fit. And Transistion? Hell, most of MJ's points in the second 3peat came from his own creation in the low post. Stephen A is off on that argument for sure.

When Jordan played against a Prime Magic he DID not tear it up the exact opposite happened and there is video footage on youtube to show the contrary. But the reason Magic and Larry say Michael is the greatest is how quickly he improved from his Rookie season and his ability to dominate on both ends of the floor in the games that they played against him in the TAIL end of there career. It has been acknowledged by everyone that when Jordan entered his prime Magic and Larry were on there way out.

None of them are looking to be in that spotlight and receive that level of scrutiny for no reason. Jordan was, sometimes, shooting 30 times a game, but if KOBE does it, he's a ballhog, JORDAN does it, he's taking over the game! GTHO! Why don't t care about Kobe's flaws? Very good point Stephen made about why there is a difference between the FG% of Jordan & Kobe. The same applies to Lebron's FG%. Miami's defensive pressure is great, combined with how quickly they get out & run off turnovers or rebounds, Lebron & Wade usually finish the break with high percentage dunks. I'll stick my neck out without checking numbers and say Lebron was in the top 5 in the league in dunks per game. To quote Barkley - I may be wrong... but i doubt it!

Same way Jordan needed Pippen and/or Rodman, and vice-versa. Fact is, Kobe appeared in 3 straight finals from 08-10 and won 2 of them back to back with one of the weakest teams to ever win a championship, let alone repeat as champions. The Lakers 2nd best player was a soft ass Pau Gasol who got ramrodded by the Celtics physical defense down low. His 3rd best player was a toss up between an Odom who only showed up to play half the time, and a D Fish who was 35+ and couldn't play defense for shit.

Brandon Guthrie Jordan was playing at age of 40, and Kobe isn’t even 40 now and he’s been retired for 2 seasons. So who in reality played longer? You only say that because Kobe had more seasons, and started his career earlier. Jordan had a full college career and retired for 2 seasons due to the murder of his father, which is the only reason he doesn’t have more seasons than Kobe. So you can’t act like Kobe is so much more superior in terms of longevity. Lmao MJ is just clearly the better player, at age 33, and his career as a whole. The only player that’s on MJ’s level is Lebron at his best. Kareem is a close 3rd.

Guy - ENTIRE TEAMS couldn't contain Jordan. That's a straight up fact. Teams became so frustrated trying to hold him down, they devised their own underhanded strategies to keep him from scoring. Notably, the Pistons and the Knicks. People always use the age factor with Larry and Magic - so what was the Entire NBA's excuse when Jordan was in his 30's and STILL destroying everyone? Magic was a damn MVP runner up in 91 - and people say he was past his prime?? Rubbish.

Okay, I know this is an old discussion, but the last thing you want to do is compare rookie seasons when talking about MJ vs Kobe. Bird was still fresh and the top dog of the Eastern conference in the late 80's, with Magic in the West. Those are respectable losses for a rookie MJ (or any rookie) with what was practically a no-name team. Kobe's rookie season? He lost two years in a row to Utah (whom Jordan beat), and in his 3rd year to the Spurs. Neither of whom were on Bird/Magic's level.

Thats a very poor argument considering the fact that MJ didn't have Rodman and a seasoned Pippen during his most productive years. These guys are paid to disagree. Its a show for them. Steven is going to counter Skip no matter what. Even if he really agrees with Skip. Its a show for these guys.

Continued....Very True that Michael performed extremely well against Bird&Boston,scoring wise.But to say he tore Bird up,is hyperbole.The same with Magic.During the 1991 Finals,Michael was schooled by Magic(who was at the tail end of his career),w/Magic averaging 18.6ppg/8rebs/12.4ast/FG 43%. Michael ruled that '91 Finals.....offensively period.But defensively,he couldn't keep up with Magic,as to the reason why Phil Jackson took him off Magic and put Pippen in(who was a better defender).

Typical Kobe fan - assuming I'm a 'hater'. And the irony doesn't escape me that you're calling me 'kid' when i'm 33 years of age. So - Shaq leads the Orlando Magic past the greatest player of all time and the Chicago Bulls and then goes onto the finals and that doesn't warrant being called a superstar?? I think you need to do some research. Kobe is a legend, one of the top ten greatest all time, and one of my Fave players for your information.

I respect Stephen A. Smith is saying but I think he missed out on his homework a bit. Michael Jordan was 33 during the 1995 and 1996 regular season and he averaged the entire regular season and not the playoffs included 30.4 ppg, ok he was out for a year and a half before that which means the question is can Kobe accomplish the same feat if went out for a year and half and come back to the NBA and post 28 points right off the bat, I seriously doubt that

But YOU think those expansion teams were FULL of legends, so have at it bro! And How many players in the 90s are the top 50 greatest of all time?? 10, and 3 played for the Bulls! How many are on that list from the 80s/70!? HA! Legends future HOFs vs Kobe? Ray Allen, Jason Kidd, Jordan, Pippen, Reggie Miller, Lebron , D-Wade, to list a FEW!

MJ couldn't take the Mamba. Kobe ballhandling skills 2much 4 MJ 2 handle & last if they would have met a final KB would've guarded MJ but MJ wouldn't guard KB pippen would've. Game 6 98 finals Jordan score 45pts 4steals 1 turnover while Scottie could only play 26 minutes. Kobe has scored 40 once in 40 finals games. MJ averaged 40points for a whole finals series. No comparison Kobe is no leader why the hell you think he only has 1 mvp and he s an overrated scorer 2scoring tittles.

Wrong..I never said anything about hist "rookie" stats, because I stated that he was gettin' his ass handed to him until Stern softened the rules up enforcing flagrant fouls, no hand checking, etc because Jordan was bitching about "How tough they play". Pistons were owning him until the rule changes! Evern Wilt Chamberlain made statements about how rules were changed to BENEFIT him! It took him 7 YRS to win anything!, and the only thing he was doing in those 7 yrs was SCORING POINTS!
