I was surprised to see Sander not abuse the cool interaction of Ardenn and Skullclamp. He could have attached his clamp to Adam's Priest of Titania or Fyndhorn Elves, or Jesper's Skyshroud Elf. Kill an opponent's X/1 and draw two cards for free every turn!

I’m liking how there are more Commander Legends partner combos. Like, it used to be Tymna/Thrasios or Thrasios/Ludavec or 10 other combinations. NOW though, after Legends, people have more options and are being original with their partner combinations and I love it!

Wouldn't the Empherate fizzle as it has no legal targets, meaning Adam couldn't use it's Rebound for it anyways, since the target it was after died due to Marath's ability?

Drannith Magistrate wouldn't let him cast it as well, and if you don't cast the rebound it stays in exile. Oddly enough it ending in the graveyard was the correct place though.

It’s not a big deal when you forget the opening hands, but I ask in the future when you do forget them to please show all the commanders being played so that we can refresh our memory on what they do. I don’t have encyclopedic knowledge of every commander, so I appreciate the reviews in the opening hand section

Two questions how did Adam die when he had more then 20 life, and shouldn't have alms collector counter the card draw from sylvan library.

Yes to the Library + Alms Collector interaction. And as for Adam, Sander cast Curse of Bloodletting, targeting Adam. The curse makes it so all damage dealt to Adam was doubled.

3:54 - the most busted thing about Ardenn trigger is that you could move your equipments to ANY creature, this whith skullclamp is nasty. Sander could killed the prisest of titania and draw two cards. Most of the people didn't notice this

7:13 The spell had no legal targets when it was attempting to resolve. This has the spell removed from the stack and placed into the graveyard without resolving, therefore Rebound would not have happened. But, this is a very small detail and ended up not impacting the game.

10:18 There is a missplay. Batterskull has non-may ETB trigger, so first giant's ability fully resolves with searching and attaching equipment to giant, and then batterskull trigger resolves with creating Germ and attaching itself to it.

Stonehewer Giant's ability can't attach equipments with living weapon, because they attach as part of the resolution of the ability, and then the etb forces them to make the germ and attach it to that, so Sander shouldn't have gained life that turn he tutored for Batterskull

Wait... how did the Marath killed avenger of Zendikar ? Marath was already dead when the trigger resolved, so marath didnt have deathtouch

702.2e : If an object changes zones before an effect causes it to deal damage, its last known information is used to determine whether it had deathtouch. So I think the last known information about Marath was that it had deathtouch, even though that ability came from the collar ? Additionnal ruling on Deathtouch says : "If a source of damage hasn't changed zones by the time that damage is dealt, its characteristics are checked to see if it has deathtouch at that time. If the source has changed zones by then, its last existence in the zone it was expected to be in is checked to see if it had deathtouch at that time." (source mtg.fandom.com/wiki/Deathtouch )

Like what happens if i fling my basilisk collar equipped commander at a creature, then my opponents delay the fling? What happens if ive recasted my commander by the time that fling resolves, 3 turns from now? Its so counter intuitiv

@@holphe3787 Once the last time counter is removed, you have to sacrifice another creature to Fling as an additional cost to cast it. Also Fling is dealing the damage, not the sacrificed Creature.

with online games, meaning bad webcams and not everyone arranging their boards the same way. I think it's nice to still keep your commander intros in the videos.. for most of the video I had no idea what commander certain players were playing.

So heres a legitimate question. If Marath uses her last counter to deal damage with Basalisk collar, wouldnt she die to having zero toughness before the damage? Would that remove the collar before damage?

Sorry for the late response. It died while equipped, meaning the creature had those abilities as it last existed on the battlefield, so it would have deathtouch.

Sanders couldn't cast Anger and Skull clamp in the same turn because his land was supposed to come in tapped. Also Ephemerate did not rebound because it did not resolve the first time, so should have just gone straight to the graveyard.

The curse causes any damage he takes to be doubled. Lage hit for 20, which became 40.

I lend my Krenko deck to all new players I'm trying to teach the game to. Easy to understand and generally performs well or wins so they're hooked. ;)

Pir and Toothy? I'd say it's probably very satisfying for a newcomer to just see their board grow and wreck face. At the same time, +1/+1 counters offer plenty of nice interactions and synergy that he can discover on his own while piloting the deck. Partner commanders might be unintuitive and another thing you need to explain before starting. But on the other hand, there's synergy between two cards right in his command zone. That might make for a nice "aha!"-experience. Or just some generic goodstuff deck. Animar, Chulane, etc. It's nice and simple to be rewarded just for playing the game.

He has the curse on him that makes him take double the damage. Lage's 20 damage was actually 40 in this case.

I haven't seen the end of the game yet but with the stonehewer giant ability getting an equipment and attaching it to a target creature wouldn't that be an illegal move with the lightning Greaves giving the creature shroud before the equipment attaching

Stonehewer doesn't target. Taken from the Gatherer page for it: "Stonehewer Giant’s ability doesn’t target a creature. However, the creature must be able to be legally equipped by the Equipment. For example, you could attach the Equipment to a creature with shroud, but not to one with protection from artifacts."

As a fyi for rules: Stonehewer Giant tutors a Living Weapon to the board, and it gets attached to target creature as it ETBs. Living Weapon then triggers as it ETBs after Stonehewer Giant's ability resolves, and the Living Weapon gets attached to a 0/0 Germ token.

I think they would if they could, but everyone spend their resources during the last 2 turns and Sander couldn’t kill me anyway. Also I might have tabletalked a bit assuring people that I wasn’t able to win in my turn just to find out that I could find mana enough if I untapped the elf with the bell ringer. But; I do think both Sander and Andrew should have held back the beast within till a crucial moment. Just glad they didnt

As soon as the double damage curse DID NOT go on to Jesper, I knew he would win. The board was spicy at that point for sure but still, I've watched enough Jesper games to know that he is a constant threat and could potentially win at any time.. Which means he's a good player and I take nothing away from that. Good Game!

In our playgroup we don’t have any agreement or look down upon endless combos. Some playgroups does, but we are not one of them. I think it all comes down to play style and spending your interaction spells right. Both Andrew and Sander would have been perfectly able to stop the combo with their beast within but chose to spend them otherwise. Had they killed my bell ringer I would have been dead before my next turn. I think it comes down to reading the table and going for the win at the right time.

I hear what you're saying... but this game he didnt have a board state to warrant alarm. He tutored EOT for a combo piece and won out of nowhere, whereas muddsta had marit lage threatening lethal...

We all play the same power level of decks. We make sure of that before playing to make everyone have fun. We also describe our win strategy so everyone knows what the deck is beforehand, in a short description. I always pack some kind of combo or instant win threat in my decks so I have something to turn the tables with. In this case I would NOT have been able to do anything had either Sander or Andrew kept just one of the 2nbeast within ready to kill my Bellringer before Kiki hits the board. I prefer to call it : waiting for my chance and making my move. Believe me; NO one is letting me win, ever. On the contrary.

Infinite combos always ruin good games imo

I really don't mind combos at all. Sometimes they don't work as well and it takes a level of skill to be able to recognize when you can safely go off.

I dislike those simple two-card combos that just come out of nowhere and end the game. As soon as it's three or more cards, I don't care anymore, because it feels much more "earned" already.

@@corhydrae3238 I think that's fair. I will say that if I and Sander hadn't blown our Beast Within's earlier, we could have easily pushed back on the combo though. As I said, I think Jesper was able to recognize how lucky he was at that point that we were all but tapped out and had used a ton of removal.

Infinite combos that are relatively easy to interact with are fun to play against toolbox combo decks however, are quite challenging for most people
